In Hot Pursuit (Catalina) Review

Catalina Studios has been around for a long time. It has given us (and still does) some of the best of our films. It was Catalina that brought us those astonishing pre-condom William Higgins films and gave a young director using the name Taylor Hudson his first opportunities. (Taylor Hudson is known today as Chi Chi LaRue.)

IN HOT PURSUIT is an early film of Jeff Stryker who owes his fame to Catalina and director John Travis. The gimmick here is that Jeff likes to draw pictures and fantasize about them. This is what links the scenes.

The first picture Jeff draws is of his friend Mike Hensen, a performer who oozed sex appeal. As though summoned, Mike appears drenched to the skin. Jeff tells him to get out of those wet clothes. (I’d tell him to get out of those clothes even if they were dry.) Mike feels self-conscious about being naked so—being the perfect host—Jeff joins him in the nude. Naturally when two naked guys are together the talk turns to sex. Their friendship takes on a new dimension when Mike goes down on Jeff’s claim-to-fame. Jeff cums on Mike’s face. He then proceeds to turn his buddy Mike into a fuck-buddy. Both guys shoot their load twice and this becomes the norm for this film.

The next drawing is of two manly cowboys. (This is long before Brokeback Mountain.) The cowboys are Mike Ryan and Doug McCall (better known as Steven Wright). Left alone in the bunkhouse on a Saturday night they play cards to see who will bottom. Mike loses (or does he win?). Doug fucks him not once—but twice—and both cum—twice.

Jeff next draws an Arab Sheik, Chris Grey. The sheik is visited by two French Foreign Legionnaires: Jim Pulver and Jeff Boote. These three are stunningly beautiful. Pulver being one of my all-time favorite fantasies. Chris shows he is very adept in French by taking both of their big dicks in his mouth and then becomes lucky Pierre sandwiched between these two hunks.

When fireman John Davenport (whose cock came close to rivaling Jeff’s) enters the bedroom of a burning house he finds a nude Robert Harris asleep. John hauls out his fire hose and….well, you get this picture.

Jeff’s final picture is of an Indian brave who finds an unconscious cavalryman tied spread-eagle on the ground. In this episode Jeff imagines himself as the Indian. When the cavalryman (Adam Grant) recovers consciousness he shows his thanks by attempting to swallow Jeff’s tomahawk. As he returns to the spread-eagle position in which the Indian found him, Jeff skewers him.

The legendary Jeff-of-the-big-dick is at the peak of his prime in this one and is surrounded by a bevy of beautiful guys. The sex is as hot as the performers and they fulfill every gay fantasy as exemplified by The Village People except for the cop. Jim Pulver and John Davenport possess cocks that would be jaw-dropping in any film where they weren’t up against Stryker’s. This is a super film made in the days before condoms. We should thank Catalina for rescuing it from oblivion.
