While I am still of the opinion that Woodman is selling himself short
with this sort of material, I have to admit that Hustler XXX 19 is not
without value in inspiring onanistic activity. Or to put it simply: it's
a half-decent stroke movie! Little effort has been expended on adding
anything other than basic locations, costume, lighting and so forth to
the scenes, and the camera work seems typically concerned as much with
the gory details as reflecting the overall beauty of the subject: the
gorgeous girls.
However, the girls are gorgeous, with the Brazilian contingent
a welcome addition, and they offer the predominant attraction. It's no
surprise to find that most of the sex is pretty mechanical with lots of
straightforward shagging and no chemistry, but lucky Titof's delightful
encounter with the Brazilian duo is a surprise in that Woodman allows
the trio to just have fun. That scene aside, I won't be spending much
time thinking about this movie but I did enjoy it more than I expected.
This may say more about my low expectations of Pierre's movies these days,
but Hustler XXX 19 is for the most part about uncomplicated, undemanding
pornography.
DVD Comments
Woodman's Hustler DVDs have taken some flak on picture quality, and rightly
so, as they don't compare well with either his old Private stuff or some
of Hustler's other product. This one has slightly better quality than
I've seen, though still inconsistent. There's some lack of sharpness and
the colours seem imbalanced - some over saturated, others weak and washed-out.
The sound is okay, what little speech there is supplied by stupid voiceovers
and dubbed dialogue. There's some annoyingly intrusive music that seems
added without thought. Extras are a very standard selection of photos,
trailers and the usual Woodman interview. Only the photos are particular
to this movie, thus little value is added in this department.
