Initial Expectations: All I’ve seen from Clive McLean so far has been Barely Legal 2, but I was impressed enough with that one that I’m really looking forward to this one.

Initial Reaction: It’s okay, but a little repetitive at times.

Audio /Video Quality: As usual with Hustler’s DVDs, the technical aspects are very good. The audio is clear and well balanced, while the video shows only a hint of grain and has nicely balanced lighting.

Music: The music has a bit of a techno - porno feel to it, but doesn’t goes through the entire scene. It starts out a bit loud, and then normally disappears by the time the main action starts.

Menus: The menus are nicely animated. The main menu has a simple feel to it, but gives a good first impression. The chapter menu is pretty standard, and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a title for the scene. After you make your selection, you’re given another menu that lets you choose where in the scene you want to go. It’s very nicely done, and shows some definite care.

The Feature: Hot Showers is an all girl series that’s spun off from the Barely Legal series, which is also done by Hustler and Clive McLean. There’s still plenty of hot, young, and fresh girls, but the focus here is showers. Each scene starts with a small lead-in to a shower, and of course the girls end up having sex in and around the shower.

Koko and Austin start things out in Ebony & Ivory. Koko joins Austin in the shower when Austin isn’t ready to go home yet and Koko thinks the shower looks nice and relaxing. The girls lather each other up and start playing, with Austin even working in a bit of peeing. After playing with Austin in the shower, Koko suggests they move to the locker room bench where they play with each other and tongue each other’s pussy. They also break out a couple large toys to play with before deciding that it’s time to go. I’m not sure that this scene even makes it up to average, and is very short of chemistry. The girls strike me as gay-for-pay here, and deliver their lines throughout the scene with lack of energy and emotion that normally comes with reading lines off cue cards. I was frequently bored with this scene, and couldn’t help but think that the viewer should have been the one getting the check for this scene rather than the performers.

Cirque du Femme pairs Ann Marie and Britney Alexander where they share a shower just like they always do in the circus. Right from the start Ann looks much more used to working with girls than Britney, and quickly takes command. She runs her hands, tongue, and fingers all over Britney’s body before breaking out a clear dildo to work on Britney’s pussy. Ann Marie gets the same treatment, only she takes a little control by sitting on Britney’s face and lets Britney hold the dildo while she rides it. Britney shows that she isn’t completely unfamiliar with women as the scene goes on, and ends up turning out a good performance as well. Sadly, the scene ends feeling like there’s a little left to go. Britney also seemed to force a bit of her performance, which is normally bad, but it stood out even worse here because Ann Marie seemed very natural. There’s a little heat and fun here and there, but the scene never wanders too far from average.

Nyomi Marcela, who looks a bit more Polynesian than Oriental, and Ginger Li, a light skinned Oriental with a great smile and a tasteful set of bolt-ons, hook up in Orient Express next. Ginger starts out with what looks to be a fairly traditional Japanese bath, and takes matters into her own hands since she doesn’t have any company. She’s joined by Nyomi Marcela, who doesn’t hesitate at all in getting in with Ginger and knows that Ginger’s after some pussy. Nyomi quickly goes to work on Ginger with her tongue and fingers before they break out the shower head to rinse each other off a little. The girls also share a toy, which Nyomi takes in her pussy but Ginger wants in the ass. Ginger takes it in the ass a couple ways before letting Nyomi hold the vibe on her clit while she sucks on her own big toe. The scene pretty much fades out here, feeling like it’s almost done but not quite. It’s a better ending than the previous scene, but still leaves a bit to be desired. On the plus side, Ginger and Nyomi play great off each other. Ginger looks to have a great time through almost the entire scene, and Nyomi looks to have a great time except that she looks unsure and sometimes bored during the anal portions. Although flawed, it’s still a pretty hot scene.

Uncle Tom’s Cabin teams Angela and Ramona Luv. Dark haired Ramona starts out taking a bath in an old fashioned tub in what looks to be an old cabin. When Angela arrives in the bathroom and strips down, Ramona invites her to share the bath where they wash each other up and caress each other. They move on to eat each other out and share a dildo, and even add a little sixty-nining near the end so Ramona can eat Angela’s pussy while getting fucked with the dildo. Although the sex is very familiar, the girls get into each other pretty good and the room they’re in is set up to give a few different shots and positions. I can’t say that the entire scene completely held my attention, but there’s enough good and different stuff here that I couldn’t look away for long.

Ashley Long and Veronica Lace finish things up in Green London taking a shower in Ashley’s outdoor shower after Ashley finishes a little gardening. The girls play with each other quite a bit as they shower, and work in plenty of kissing, before heading out to get busy without the water getting in the way. Unlike the other scenes, there’s no toys here, and there’s none needed. Ashley and Veronica do a great job of working each other over without any extra help, and look to be having a great time doing it. Sadly, by this point my eyes were half glazed over. This scene is nicely different from the other scenes due to its lack of toys, and has great chemistry. It helps push the sex rating just over the average mark, but sadly due to its placement it’s mostly enjoyable on its own rather than as part of the overall movie.

Hot Showers 8 does a good job setting up a one-trick pony. When I went into this feature all I knew was that it was an all girl series. Despite the title, I never thought the entire focus of the feature would be showers. In fact, if I would have known, I might have skipped by it because although I do like to watch girls in the shower, it seems a bit repetitive to me. I’m not going to say that some of the setups don’t feel at all similar, but Clive McLean does vary things nicely which helps give the feature a bit of variety. Like many pornos, the biggest problem lies in things other than the sex. When it comes to reading lines, whether in the setup sequences or when they try to talk during the sex, many of the girls show all the acting skill of a pimento. I also got the feeling that a couple of the girls didn’t really care to work with girls, which brought down scenes such as the first one quite a bit. Although there’s a little variety, the sex also seemed a bit repetitive at times. Almost every scene is the girls eating each other out and then breaking out a toy. A little variety here would have been very good. A scene without any toys would have really stood out if it were in a better place than the end, as by that time I couldn’t get into the scene too much, as would have a scene with a strap-on. There’s nice creativity to the setups, but the actual scenes feel extremely familiar as the movie goes on. Hot Showers 8 has a few flaws, but is definitely worth a rental for fans of girls showering and all girl action.

Extras: The photo gallery lasts about two minutes with six seconds per very nice looking photo. Trailers are included for Barely Legal 31, Asian Fever 9, Hot Showers 6, Young Latin Girls 2, Campus Confessions 1, and Real College Girls 1. There’s also a cast list by scene, website information, phone sex commercials, and featurettes.

The first featurette is an interview with Clive McLean that lasts about five minutes. He talks about how he directs and compares it to shooting sporting clays as well as talking about how his previous experience as a photographer has helped him. It’s a good featurette, and blends plenty of T&A with a little behind the scenes and a few interviews.

Finally, the behind the scenes featurette lasts about five and a quarter minutes. As one would expect with a featurette of this length, you don’t get much of each scene. It mostly works around a couple of the scenes, and shows Clive McLean working with the cast to get what he wants, as well as prepping the set and taking a few still photos. It’s nothing wildly great, but it does add a bit to the feature and gives you a feel for Clive McLean as a director.

Overall: Currently, the Hot Showers series can be found online for between $18 and $30 with most stores offering them for around $20. Rent this one before you buy it, as the movie gets very familiar by the end of the movie. On the plus side, the technical aspects and extras are very good, so if you like the movie you should love the DVD.

Note to Hustler: It’s great to see how consistent you are with the DVDs your putting out quality-wise. Although people might not always like the movie, they seem to be sure to get a well crafted DVD. Thank you for putting this kind of effort into your products.
