The Short Story

Initial Expectations: Michael Zen can put out some very nice movies, and he has a great cast here. I’m going into this one with a bit of hope.

Initial Reaction: It’s one of the best couples movies I’ve seen in a very long time.

Who Should Watch It : Couples who don’t want a lot of plot or anybody who wants plenty of passionate sex

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who thinks couples sex has to be slow and boring

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done. The audio is clear and well balanced, but there were a couple very minor background noises. The video is pretty good, but has just a little softness. There’s also a couple fast zooms and soft focus blurs to interfere with things.

Music: The music ranges from fifties style music to hard driving fuck music. The only thing that seems to be consistent about the music is that it’s overbearing and covers up a fair amount of the performers.

Menus: The main menu is very nicely done, and does a great job of blending the boxcover, a bit of the movie, and a little animation. The chapter menu, unfortunately, is extremely generic and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of the scene and a chapter number.

The Feature

When they head on their honeymoon, Lee reminds Jewel that according to their prenup she has to reveal her entire sexual past to him before they consummate their marriage. Jewel isn’t too happy that she just signed it to make him happy thinking it was a bunch of legal mumbo jumbo nobody would pay attention too, but as Lee prods her along tells him about all the guys she’s slept with. Jewel quickly turns the tables on Lee, and makes him tell her one story of his sexual past for every one of his.

Scene 1 - Jewel De’Nyle and Frank Fortuna

Jewel starts things out passionately kissing Frank in the middle of a bright colored woods. She doesn’t waste much time before unzipping his pants so she can mouth his manhood. She works him over a bit without ever taking off her bright colored bikini, and soon after he pops in her mouth.

This is an okay scene. As usual, Jewel sucks a mean cock, and I love the passion with the hard kissing at the start of the scene. Unfortunately, the scene seems to be done before it even starts. It was done within the first five minutes of the movie, including the opening credits and setup! This would have been a darn hot scene if you didn’t have to worry about missing half of it due to blinking.

Scene 2 - Jewel De’Nyle and Joel Lawrence

When Jewel and Joel bump into each other jogging, she suggests that they go take a shower. Of course Joel agrees, and moments later he’s pumping away on her doggie style over a bathtub. > This is a darn hot scene. I’ll admit that I was a little thrown by the lack of oral action, but at the same time it was kind of nice to see Jewel get right to it. Scene 3 - Gwen Summers and Dillion Day; Lee Stone

This is another great scene.

Scene 4 - Jewel De’Nyle and Haven

Jewel and Lee flash back to when they first met, at a bachelor party where Jewel was the entertainment with the help of blonde Haven. The girls work their way around the guys teasing them before getting in the middle and working their tongues around each other as they help each other strip down. They finally end up on the floor together, where Jewel throws Haven’s legs back so she can get in some muff munching. She picks Haven’s ass up so she can pile drive both her holes with her tongue. Finally the scene ends feeling completely cut off.

This starts off like it’s going to be a great scene. Haven and Jewel take things fairly slow, but keep them moving. They seem to have great chemistry, and Jewel really goes after Haven with her tongue. Unfortunately, the scene feels like it’s only begun when it comes screeching to a close. This could have been a darn hot scene, but it doesn’t last long enough to ever get there.

Scene 5 - Gina Ryder and Lee Stone

When Gina comes over to see Lee’s sister, she instead finds him beating his meat to some porno. She watches him a little before letting him know she’s there, and after they introduce themseves drops down to help him out. There’s plenty of energy and chemistry, and the scene was darn near done before I had enough blood above my waist to realize that there weren’t any position changes being shown. For some reason not seeing the position changes always hurts a scene for me, but this one’s hot enough that I barely even noticed. This is yet another darn hot scene.

Scene 6 - Jewel De’Nyle and Lee Stone

As Lee finishes his story, Jewel aggressively sucks his cock. She teases him with the prenup, but Lee quickly rips it up to get Jewel back working on his wedding tackle. This is a wonderful way to end the movie.

Going into Honeymoon Heat I full expected to be passing it off on one of my friends who beg me for porn now and then. I mean, Digital Sin was leaving plenty to be desired with their DVDs at this time by completely recycling all their extras except the photo galleries on their DVDs, and an hour and a quarter couples movie being the main event? Yeah, this one definitely sounded like it was going to mostly be another notch in the review pole. Needless to say, they’re going to have a hard time getting Honeymoon Heat away from me.

Sure, it has a couple minor stumbling points like the music being overly loud, showing very few position changes, and having a couple scenes that were so short that I’m not sure they should be considered scenes. Those things ended up being pretty minor complaints by the time I got to the end of the movie. The story’s simple, but works as a nice framework for the scenes. It’s also helped out quite a bit by Jewel and Lee, who bring some nice emotions into it and capture what I think are some fairly common feelings for newlyweds.

All that said, the main thing that makes Honeymoon Heat is the sex. There seems to be some unwritten rule out there that says that movies made for and about couples have to have slow sex so that nobody gets offended by it or something. Thankfully, either nobody told Michael Zen this or he just decided to ignore that asinine rule. All of the scenes, including the short scenes, have plenty of chemistry combined with couples who don’t want to take it slow and easy. They want to fuck, with passion, feeling, and energy, and they aren’t going to worry about whether or not they have a tanorexic partner who might break if they’re pumped too hard. If that happens, they seem content to know that their partner went out with a smile on their face. Honeymoon Heat is a great adult film that shows some of the potential a couples film can have.

The Extra Stuff

The only extra on the A-side of the DVD is a photo gallery that contains about three dozen fantastic looking snapshots and very good looking full screen photos. The B-side contains the standard trailers and interviews that Digital Sin seemed to leave there for well over a year.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Digital Sin’s DVDs can be found online for between about $15 and $25 with many stores offering them around the $20 mark. This one’s definitely worth the low end, and if Digital Sin would have been putting a little more care into their DVDs back when this one came out it’d easily be worth more. The movie is very nicely done, with plenty of passionate sex and a nice framework for it. The technical aspects are pretty well done, but the extras are generic as can be. This is a great movie on a DVD that somebody coasted through.

Note to Digital Sin: With movies like this I can’t help but wish that you’d still be making features.
