In the box cover blurb for this entry in the supposedly film noir style series, Hustler promise big things but as usual the wary viewer must take such hype with more than a pinch of salt. For while the girls are indeed beautiful and the sex is as explicit as one might desire, the truth is some distance from High Octane's bold box cover claims. Still, I always think it a bad habit to review the hype rather than the movie, so let's talk about this tale, set in "the world's greatest whorehouse". How charming. My thanks go to Sbando Boy and Speelie for their assistance with identifying the cast. Sandra It's actually the doll-like Ukrainian brunette Eva (AKA Alexandria, Alexandra, Alekssandra, Alexa Mai, Alexandra Blake) who swings things into action, wriggling around in black underwear by an indoor pool, providing entertainment for a stocky guy (Hari Jozef). He rises from his chair and throws off his robe to reveal…big pants! Oh no. How she keeps a straight face and maintains her seductive mode when faced with such a singularly unappealing site remains a mystery. She concentrates on fishing out his cock, and giving him a blowjob as the camera peers down on her beautiful face, one of the most beautiful in European porn today, in my view. She clutches her boobs and moans as required but again the meandering long shots almost symbolise the director's disinterest in his subject. Things come to a head with Eva sucking and stroking him off over her stunning face. The come misses, which somehow says it all. The tepid sex is really just a distraction from admiring the young Ukrainian's beauty. After this, the story is revealed, such as it is. The burly bloke turns out to be a gangster being rewarded for the protection he provides to brothel boss Eunice Deke, a tall, slim and pretty brunette whose physical similarity to Letizia Bisset doesn't stop at an abundant explosion of curly hair. The few conversations that occur are all clumsily dubbed over with an embarrassing Americanised script and in another dire dialogue sequence, the Madame is seen welcoming three men to her establishment. Each is to have his fantasy fulfilled, and in the first of these, Boldizar, is awoken by Eunice's phone call announcing the arrival of his breakfast. Osana & Roda The trick is that two brunette beauties provide his room service, both clad in superb black lingerie, one in sheer black nylons, the other in fishnets. Not sure which credit applies to which girl, but the one in fishnets is in Orgy World 3 as "Laya", 18 & Nasty 31 as "Dora", and Rocco's Initiations 5 as "Lea", which seems more likely. Anyway, orange juice and pastries are soon forgotten as luscious lips clamp round Boldizar's cock and the sexy duo feed it to each other. There's some very mild girl-girl action before he takes "Laya" in doggy while the other girl (Sbando very tentatively suggests Nataly from Superfuckers 19) kisses her and sucks her tits, before lying back and fingering herself as she observes the action. Her turn arrives and Boldizar licks her pussy before she takes it doggy style too. There is a slight sense of déjà vu about all this, but at least she has beautiful legs and a lovely bum to admire - if the blooming bedstead didn't get in the way. I am afraid this scene, like most of the movie, starts with great potential but is ultimately about failure: failure to fully exploit the beauty of the girls, and failure to provide any real heat. The trouble is that the sex is just too laboured for me; it starts well but lapses into a checklist of positions. In the end, I feel glad it's all over when Boldizar sprays a little come over the girls' faces and those luscious lips fasten once more on to his cock. Lena Renko The Madame sets up another meeting for a client. This time a 4x4 takes Dick Dart off to a garage lined with car wheels. What a crap location. Still, things are initially promising as long legs in old-fashioned seamed black stocking slide out of the driver's door. Their owner is revealed to be an attractive dark-haired woman in a black leather jacket, tied-off white blouse and skirt gyrates provocatively before beckoning the guy to join her. It's an effective if contrived tease, which gives way to Lena (she's also in Chasin Tail 3 as "Olena") taking charge of her man, pushing him back on the bonnet of the car and delivering hot kisses and a tasty blowjob. Dick spreads Lena's legs and goes down, then fucks her on the car, her thick nipples standing proud on tits that spill over her red bra. Clutching her hair, he takes her harder from behind but as this position goes on the director starts to toy with long shots and odd angles, rather than getting up close and personal to admire her body or capture her responses. Reverse cowgirl and spoons that show her legs and boobs quite well only partially retrieve the situation, and while Dick can supply no more personality, he at least injects more urgency into the sex. Lena strokes him off into her mouth to finish a better but hardly sensational scene. Martalina Chico (AKA Carlos or Carl/Karl Ben) has his foot massage fantasy fulfilled. I can certainly relate to this! Beautiful young blonde Martalina (AKA Amanda, very impressive in Orgy World 3) wanders into the room. She's dressed in sexy underwear and superb white stockings with black tops and soles. Lots of heavy breathing ensues as they kiss, and she rubs her stockinged foot over his body. He kisses her nylon-covered toes and she uses her feet to massage his now exposed tool. One could argue this is more appropriate to a foot-fetish genre movie, but I'd argue the opposite, as it brings more variety and colour to what's proving to be a very run-of-the-mill flick. Who could honestly resist the way she rubs her foot on his face as she manoeuvres her crotch on to his mouth? After the exchange of oral pleasures, Martalina hops on board for a quite enthusiastic reverse cowgirl. This show off her legs nicely, doggy does likewise for her ass. With lingerie removed, they get into doggy anal, the sex proving solid if unspectacular, leaving me speculating why her full potential isn't unleashed even if she does seem into it. Chico maintains a steady rhythm, banging into he backside in spoons, before slipping off her stockings and enjoying a barefoot footjob to finish. My appreciation of the girl, the clothes and the type of action means I enjoy this scene more but that doesn't mean there isn't plenty of room for improvement. Eunice The Madame finally has her own needs seen to by two chaps, Chico and Dick. Dick and Eunice kiss each other with a fleeting intensity sadly all too rare in this movie, especially during the actual sex. The tall, slim, curly-haired brunette, also known as Kelly and Isabelle ends up with a cock in each hand, sucking one and then the other. Her long dress slips down to reveal small, pretty tits and rides up to reveal her stockings and her pussy, which Chico probes with tongue and fingers. Eunice's stockinged legs and high heels wave as she's taken in missionary. While I find assorted things to admire in the scene, from her sexy attitude to her lacy corset, the sex again feels like a checklist of positions. Guy 1 has a turn, guy 2 has a turn, doggy, anal, and voila, there's the DP and the facials to finish. It often feels pointless to single out one movie about this as it's such a common flaw, but that's the way it plays to me, which is a shame as there could have been more to see from a sexy, willing, vocal performer like Eunice. The abrupt cut to black at the end is confirmation if any were needed that the story, laughable to use the term, really, is of absolutely zero consequence. Overall High Octane 12's greatest strength is its cast, which does live up to the promise. The girls are all beautiful and they are styled and dressed in a flattering way - the lingerie, stockings and so forth are especially appealing, and the movie could readily be enjoyed as a piece of fluff on that level. However, the elements of sex and story are sorely lacking in quality, the latter being utterly worthless, and not for the first time such a movie makes me feel that those viewers who simply seek beautiful women would almost be better served by soft-core. The girls could then be admired without the pedestrian sex scenes getting in the way. Honestly, I'd sincerely hope that having my utmost fantasies fulfilled would be a damn sight more exciting than this! Tame sex, by which I mean lifeless rather than lacking extremity, is not the only fault. The camerawork is lacklustre; the editing is particularly poor, consistently splicing shots that don't match. This sort of clumsiness is also evident on the soundtrack, both in editing original sound and mixing in the truly dreadful dubbed dialogue. All in all, it's disappointing to find such lovely girls embroiled in a cheap hotchpotch that neither shines as an all-sex movie nor even begins to thrill as a crime drama, more fool me for even considering that it might. DVD Comments The picture quality is reasonable and I suspect the major flaws are down to rudimentary failures to deal with changes in light. The sound quality is okay during the sex, though I note a little roughness here and there during rare moments of audible excitement, and as I mention the irritating dialogue is ham-fistedly dubbed on in clumsy lumps. Extras include a photo gallery, trailers, a standard interview with director Patrick Handsome, and a rather aimless collection of behind the scenes footage, mainly showing the taking of still photos during the scenes. Ironically, this almost serves to show the girls better than the movie proper, and provides at least one little insight as Martalina confesses with a giggle that her boyfriend doesn't know what she gets up to. |
