Hattie Goes Cruising is a short documentary from director Konstantin Bock that gives us a look into the life of Hank Major or, as he prefers to be called, Hattie Louise. Hattie Louise is a 70-year-old New York City resident that is in a relationship with Allen Brevard. Hattie Goes Cruising also gives the viewer a look into the disappearing art of cruising.

Hattie Louise is very open about his life, as is Allen, and Hattie Louise talks about the art of cruising throughout different periods of his life which not only gives the viewer a great look at a larger concept through looking at one individual but also shows how much the gay lifestyle has changed over time.

The short movie is broken into different time periods so Hattie Louise can explain how cruising has changed over the years. He also takes the viewer on a short tour of New York City so as to show the viewer some of his old haunts that he discusses during the documentary.

Hattie Goes Cruising is absolutely fascinating for a straight viewer because while yes straight people obviously go out to pick up people, there isn't any exact equivalent as cruising. Hattie Goes Cruising thus allows a straight viewer to understand this aspect of the gay sexual lifestyle that they otherwise wouldn't be exposed to. Since cruising is a dying art, this reviewer would assume that younger gay people would also enjoy this for a look at an aspect of the history of gay culture that they may not have ever been exposed to.

Hattie Goes Cruising is an excellent documentary which fits great into the short movie format that is well worth watching. Hattie Louise is great to get to know and is an excellent subject for this documentary on cruising.

Hattie Goes Cruising was shot digitally and is presented in the anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1 in 1080p. The image for the release looks beautiful with a sharp, crisp, and clean picture that exhibits grain in dark scenes. Colors in the movie look great.

Hattie Goes Cruising is presented with an English Stereo audio track. There are no noticeable issues with the audio at all with clear dialog that is easy to understand throughout the short movie.
