Harlot (Sin City) Review

Initial Thoughts: I'm becoming a pretty big fan of Sin City features of late, they really seem to have it down pat with thier current group of people, and time after time, thier coming out with very good couples friendly but gonzo fan supportive sex scenes, and fairly well written and acted out stories to put into making very top quality features. This disc completely continues that trend, and is a very fine effort with a real allstar cast. Aurora Snow is the headliner, and she is the co main character in this one, and without giving up too much plot, Aurora is an adventurous wife, and she has gone out and done some torrid things behind her husbands back, and much of the story revolves around her husband, Chris Cannon, with the help of Brittney Skye's paranormal abilities, figuring out all of what she has been up too, and finding and implenting a course of acceptable action to either correct or destroy the situation. It is not an incredibly deep story, especially considering some of the more recent Sin City feature releases, but it's a slightly creative similar adult film plot line, and the acting is quite solid with good performances on the acting and sexual side pretty much across the board, and that is really what turns this into a solid story with very hot sex to hold it together. There could have been more story development, and there are a few holes that leave a little to be desired in the story, but overal, a very solid total package of a disc, the extras really are nicely put together and feature a lot of feature related content that make this a very strong effort in most aspects.

Technical Considerations: The feature is presented in widescreen format, 1.85:1 non anamorphic. The picture quality is quite good generally, and the sound is pretty well balanced and sharp too, the lighting is generally set intentionally dark in some scenes, and occasionally too dark, but on average it is solid. Camera work is moslty stable, but occasionally I was not fond of the shot locations.

Final Thoughts and Recommendations:

This was one of those stories, that I would have liked to have seen more done with, while I liked the premise and the supernatural twist, there was very little done to kind of put the viewer in the story, I know, it's porn, it's about the screwing and not the scripting, but still some get it right and make an intrigueing enough story, this was atleast interesting, but just could have used a little more development. Good disc though, very little to complain about on a global scale, I had my nitpicks here and there and made them known above, and I think together they do take it down atleast a partial peg, but this movie weathers the storm pretty well and comes out a worthy purchase or rental to most couples, I think feature fans will want a little more story depth, but with a cast like this having some good old sex, it makes up for it's shortfalls pretty well.
