G.S.U. Play Offs Review

NOTE: This is an amateur video. Amateur and homemade movies don’t have the budget nor the resources of studio porn, and therefore rarely get close to the same quality technically. I’m rating this DVD on the same scale, but most homemade or amateur features would rarely make it above a 3 on the standard scale I use for studio porn for their technical aspects. The performers also aren’t normally the ‘glamour stars’ one expects from studio porn, and instead use people who look like somebody you might encounter in your day to day life. Finally, the camera work has a different feel, as it’s often shot from a tripod or with somebody who doesn’t have the technical training or experience of professional cameramen. That said, amateur and homemade features have a great charm to them, simple because the people in them are doing what they’re doing to have fun and because they enjoy it. All the things that separate them from studio porn contribute to that charm, I hope people will keep that in mind when checking out this review and not just look at the ratings as the ultimate word on this release. Since the technical aspects are normally lacking and there normally isn’t much for extras in amateur features, I’ve weighted my overall rating more heavily towards the sex than I do in most studio porn.

Note 2: Pixie’s Emporium has been remastering many of their DVDs recently. This is an older copy, and if you’re interested in it you might want to drop an e-mail to their top notch customer service babe to check and see if this one has been remastered or if there are plans for it in the near future.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are pretty good for an amateur production. The audio has a few minor balance problems, background noises, and camera noise. There’s also a very brief moment where Mandi* and the cameraman talk. The video is pretty good. It’s nicely lit but there’s a little camera shake, a few minor soft focus problems, and a little grain. For an amateur production, these are all very minor complaints, and the technical aspects are much better than those in many other amateur movies I’ve watched.

Music: There’s a little pep band music here and there in the movie. It doesn’t last long, but definitely adds to the fun feeling of the movie. There’s also a little rap music playing in the background of the second scene that adds a little to the mood.

Watermark Warning: There’s a small watermark in the lower right corner. It stays there nicely throughout the movie, which makes it easy to filter out for me, but I know some people hate them. I could be wrong, but I think Pixie’s Emporium might have discontinued using watermarks in their current DVDs...

Menus: The menu is extremely basic, and just shows a list of movies on the DVD (which is a list of 1). It’s not impressive, but I’d say there’s better than even odds that it’s been remastered by now.

The Feature

It’s getting close to playoff time, and the coaches know they have some problems. Their star players are distracted, and they know they have to do something about it. They call them into their office to get them straightened out, but when they’re late their players can’t help but start playing around.

Scene 1 - Mandi*

Mandi*, Pixie’s super cute “contract star”, starts things out getting ready for school. Scene 3 - Erica and Jay

He shows up late for when he’s to meet her at her place, and she’s more than upset because she has some naughty ideas on how they can work it out. G. S. U. Playoffs is a fun little amateur movie. The scenes all have a nice little setup, and the cast does a great job keeping them fun and playful. Yes, they sometimes look right at the camera and try not to laugh, but that’s some of what makes this fun! Sex is supposed to be a fun and wonderful thing, and everybody in the movie seems to think that very idea is the most important thing here. That feeling more than makes up for a few angles that might be off, some camera shake, and a bit of lighting that isn’t quite even here and there. I love how they mix up the sex in the scenes rather than having all of the scenes be the same, which really helped the movie to stand out for me. G. S. U. Playoffs shows that the people involved with Pixie’s Emporium love sex, and that makes this movie a real winner that kept a smile on my face through almost all of the movie.
