Groupies Galore! is an early shot on video production that is heavily lacking in production values. In the movie, Johnny (Barnett Philips) and his band Neon go to a club and end up hanging out backstage with their groupies. There is no plot anywhere within this venture, though. No story, nothing actually happens at all. There is just a bunch of sex scenes with a horrific attempt to pretend the band is singing one of their songs.

Groupies Galore! is very cheaply and quickly made and it is very obvious throughout the movie. Most of the movie takes place in the dressing room, where mostly undressing goes on. The dressing room is bigger than the “stage” on which Neon performs their song. The poor sets make the movie just look cheap. Neon's song is awful. The song is filled with lines like “get down,” “ya,” “whoa,” “come on,” and “shake it.” Since many of the band members are not part of the sex scenes, and a number of local bands that were in the Los Angeles area in the 80s, you would think the production would have gotten one for this movie so that at least their song sounded good.

The sex scenes range from average to just downright bizarre. There is one where the band's guitarist (Marc Wallice) fucks a groupie (Theresa Jones) with his guitar, in an act that just looks downright painful instead of erotic. The other scenes are, for the most part, uninspired. There is far better adult material that came out during this time period than this quickie.

Classic X Collection has done a poor job with this release of Groupies Galore! Groupies Galore! is presented in the academy aspect ratio of 1.33:1 in 480i. Classic X Collection appears to have sourced the master for this DVD from an old VHS tape meaning that the movie is actually presented in 250i. The movie suffers from a lack of definition, glitches in the video, and an overly dark picture. There is also haloing in the image. Overall, this is a very poor quality image.

Groupies Galore! is presented with an English Dolby Digital 2.0 monaural audio track. There is a hiss present throughout the entire movie. The dialog can be heard and understood throughout the entire movie.

Groupies Galore! is one of the early shot on video productions made for the adult movie industry. Unfortunately, it was also a very quickly and cheaply made production. The production values for the movie are low, the plot is non-existent, and the sex scenes are average at best, with some below average. This is an easy movie to pass on. Classic X Collection has done a very poor job with this release with an unacceptable transfer.
