The Grand Theft Auto video game series seems like an odd choice for the adult industry to take on to parody. The series is ultra violent but doesn't really have that much sexual content within it. Despite that Daring! and, the likely pseudonymous, director Dawn decided to take on the franchise with Grand Theft Auto XXX Parody. The rotoscoped-style opening actually gave promise to potential in the upcoming movie as it certainly gave the viewer the feel of the Grand Theft Auto series.

The potential quickly disintegrates though as the rotoscoped animation ends and the movie switches to standard shot footage that features Yuri (John Strong) who has come to America and needs money. He promises to teach American boss Dimitri (Bill Bailey) the Russian way to get money. Dimitri assigns Yuri “missions,” which consist of going somewhere watching someone have sex and then the someone being killed.

There is no real attempt to create any sort of plot for the movie. Nor is there any real attempt to make the viewer feel like this is a parody of the Grand Theft Auto series. There is one point when Yuri yanks a guy out of a car and that is it; the only point that the movie tries to emulate the video game series at all.

Grand Theft Auto XXX Parody was poorly shot. So poorly shot that after a while you wonder if Dawn is a pseudonym for random tourist footage from around Los Angeles. It appears that a handheld camera shot the entire movie. The camera is often shaking and the sex is captured by zooming in and out — maybe an attempt to emulate the capability in the video game to change the view. The non-sexual scenes are shot just as poorly. Also, in an oddity, sometimes the license plate for the Camaro used in the movie is blurred out and other times it is not blurred and perfectly readable. I only note this since the blurring is noticeable and distracting.

As far as the cast goes, once you get past the poor camera work, they don't do a bad job with the sexual material. John Strong seems to try to bring some life to his poorly and inadequately written character. Had the uncredited scriptwriter actually tried to create a plot that emulated the Grand Theft Auto series I get the feeling he would have been very good in the role.

I am unsure who might like this movie. If the sex scenes hadn't been shot so poorly at least fans of the stars would have enjoyed the sex scenes. But due to the poor cinematography, I'm not sure I could even make that recommendation. Fans of the video game series looking for an adult take on the series will want to pass on this title as there is nothing here for them.

Daring! has done a good job with their release of Grand Theft Auto XXX Parody. Grand Theft Auto XXX Parody is presented in the anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1 in 480i. There were no noticeable issues with the video presentation. The image was crisp and clear with nice colors and no defects.

Grand Theft Auto XXX Parody is presented with an English Dolby Digital 2.0 monaural audio track. There aren't any noticeable issues with the audio track. The dialog is crisp and clear and can be understood at all times.

Daring! has included a few extras on this release. There is a behind the scenes piece that runs for 30 minutes and has John Strong showing off shooting locations and talking with cast members. There is a three-minute cumshot recap. There are also five photo galleries on the release, one for each actress in the cast.

Grand Theft Auto XXX Parody is a poor attempt at an adult take on the popular video game franchise. There is almost no resemblance to the video game in the adult movie. The movie seems to have been shot on a handheld camera, which makes for a shoddily shot end product. Grand Theft Auto XXX Parody is an easy title to skip. Daring! has done a good job with this release.
