The Movie |
Gonzo Girls was initially conceived as a hardcore episodic web series for Adam & Eve TV by writer and director Paul Deeb. The pilot for the series “Broke as Fuck” was greenlit and produced; however, Gonzo Girls never proceeded to series.
The four main characters of Gonzo Girls, who appear to have been who the series — had Gonzo Girls continued to series — was going to center around, are Andre (Andre Shakti), Jiz (Jiz Lee), Ingrid (Ingrid Mouth), and Markus (Lae Charles Lawrence, Jr.). The viewer is presented here with just episode one (the pilot episode) “Broke as Fuck.”
In “Broke as Fuck,” Andre, Jiz, and Ingrid decide to make a porn because they are — as the title states — broke as fuck. They place an advert on the internet seeking a male to be in their porn movie. They audition the men, which goes disastrously until Sebastian (Sebastian Keys) shows up.
Gonzo Girls has the perfect balance of story, comedy, and sex. The main cast is excellent and plays beautifully off of each other, and the comic timing of the cast is on the mark. The set up in Gonzo Girls is perfect for an episode length piece. The story has enough to entertain the viewer, leave the viewer wanting to watch more episodes but also leave room for the sex. The sex fits into the piece perfectly, and the cast is on their A-game for the sex scene as well.
Paul Deeb always does an excellent job with the music in his full-length movies and short films. Gonzo Girls is no exception to this. Lae Charles Lawrence, Jr., performs the catchy theme song excellently.
This reviewer thinks that it is regrettable that Gonzo Girls never continued to series. Gonzo Girls was an absolute joy to watch, and this reviewer definitely wanted to see the further adventures of Andre, Jiz, Ingrid, and Markus. Needless to say, Gonzo Girls is a must-see short film.
The Edition |
The edition of Gonzo Girls screened is a digital screener provided by Lionreach Productions. As a result, there may be discrepancies between the reviewed edition and the release edition(s).
Lionreach Productions has done an excellent job with their digital screener of Gonzo Girls. Gonzo Girls is available on Adam & Eve TV. Gonzo Girls was shot digitally and is presented in the anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 1.66:1 in 1080p. The image quality is excellent free from any noticeable defects or issues. The colors in the short film are excellent.
Gonzo Girls is presented with an English Stereo audio track. There aren't any noticeable issues with the sound quality in Gonzo Girls, and the dialog is clear and easy to understand at all times.
Lionreach Productions didn't include any extras for review with the digital screener.
Final Thoughts |
Gonzo Girls is the pilot for an intended series for Adam & Eve TV that, unfortunately, never proceeded past the pilot. Gonzo Girls was released on Adam & Eve TV as a stand-alone short film. Even as a short film, Gonzo Girls makes for excellent watching with good sex and good comedy. Gonzo Girls is well worth watching.
