Running Time: 108 min.

Production Date: 5 / 4 - 5 / 2000

Director: Nicholas Steele

Cast: Adajja, Alex Foxe, Alexandra Nice, Amber Michaels, Harmony Grant, Skylar Knight, Keri Windsor, Evan Stone, Mark Davis, Erik Everhard, Rob Scott, and Joey Ray in sexual roles and Reenie Varga providing voiceovers for the narration

Initial Expectations: Nicholas Steele has been hit or miss for me. I’m not really sure what to expect other than beautiful sets.

Initial Reaction: It’s beautiful but extremely shallow.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting beautiful settings, elaborate costumes, and softer sex

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who wants to hear the performers or who doesn’t want much art direction

Audio /Video Quality: The audio leaves a bit to be desired. Much of the plot sequences are done with a voice-over by the storyteller, and they have a very soft feeling. Sadly, it’s so soft that I had an extremely hard time making out most of the words that were being said and had to go back many times to figure out what was being said. Luckily there isn’t a lot of plot here. The video also has a soft feel, but it’s done much better. It helps give the feature a more artistic feeling, and it’s well lit so you can see everything very well.

Music: Not surprisingly, the score is done by Saint. It’s almost immediately recognizable, and its dreamlike new age feeling seems perfect for the feature. Sadly, it’s the only audio through the scenes and robs all of the scenes of some of their heat.

Menus: The menus are pretty standard. There’s a little animation that’s nicely done in the main menu, which helps the DVD make a good first impression. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene, and lets you choose between the start of the scene and the pop shot.

The Feature: When Serenity’s grandmother dies, she’s left with a wooden box. It looks simple, but a letter from her Granny tells her that it will help her find her beauty within. Serenity (Skylar Knight), however, would much rather write about beauty than find it herself, and writes many tales of lovers throughout mythology. As she writes, she finds that the mirror her grandmother left her allows her to see what she has written take form.

The Lady in the Lake (Adajja) starts things off with King Arthur (Evan Stone). Evan, who surprisingly starts the scene leading a horse rather than a couple guys with coconuts, feels himself being called to the lake where Adajja presents him with Excaliber. After giving Evan her sword, Adajja comes up and makes it clear that she thinks that she should have a bit of Evan’s sword in return. Evan carries Adajja from the water to the rocks by the short to tongue and finger her twat before letting her down to suck and stroke his skin sword. Evan sheaths his sword in Adajja’s snatch reverse cowgirl style before giving it to her from behind in front of a waterfall and missionary style on a blanket that no doubt appeared from the Lady’s magic. Finally, Evan stands above the Lady and sprays his seed over her chest and stomach.

This is an okay scene. The costumes are excellent, but the cameras concentrated on close-ups so much that I had a hard time getting into it. It’s very artistic and beautiful to look at, but sadly it all seems to rob the scene of its heat.

Maiden Alex Foxe discovers Aphrodite (Keri Windsor) as she picks flowers in the wood in the second scene. Keri puts her amazing tongue to work on Alex’s pussy and ass before sliding a few fingers into her twat. Alex returns the favor with her own tongue and fingers before the scene seems to end without feeling close to finished.

As Keri and Alex go at it, Skylar Knight is turned on watching it in the mirror. She gently diddles herself without bothering to take off her sundress. Instead, Skylar just unbuttons the top and hoists it up to get at what she needs to. She also dreams of showering in a waterfall and swimming in a pool at the base.

This scene didn’t do a heck of a lot for me. Once again, it’s extremely artistic and that robs the scene of a lot of heat. A lot of the footage is noticeably reused, and the scene feels a bit like the food at a Japanese steakhouse. You see it all unfold in front of you at first and then it gets hacked into bits and scrambled up. This scene was a huge disappointment for me as Keri Windsor is easily one of my favorite performers (as well as being in incredibly nice person) and one of the main reasons I checked out this feature. Skylar is very cute in her part here, and I think her very soft masturbation is probably the highlight of the scene.

The Pharoah (Mark Davis) is awakened in an Egyptian style scene by Isis (Alexandra Nice, who’s barely recognizable due to her costume and makeup). She starts out sucking his cock slowly before letting Mark support her and eat her pussy. They work through a few of the standard positions, and even work in a nice standing position before moving onto the anal in a reverse cowgirl. They finish it with an impressive facial that Alexandra takes with her eyes wide open.

This is a very good scene that’s actually helped out by the art direction. This didn’t come as much of a surprise to me as Mark and Alexandra normally turn out very good scenes. They work together every bit as good as one would hope, and turn this into a very nicely done scene. Unfortunately, footage being reused is very noticeable once again.

Medusa (Amber Michaels), who strangely doesn’t have any snakes for her hair but has plenty around her, and one time victim Erik Everhard, who provides a snake of his own, get it on in the next scene. Amber starts things off by trying to take Erik’s snake with her oral charms before he buries it in her from behind. They work through a few more common positions as well as some nice standing fucking before Erik unleashes his spooge spray on Amber’s nice ass and back.

This is a pretty hot scene! I really like the creativity of the scene, and Erik puts out just like he’s always expected to! Amber’s eyes are also excellent here, and she’s amazing from the start of the scene right up to the end!

Promethius of Rome (Rob Scott) finds goddess of war Athena (Harmony Grant) in the penultimate scene in front of a burning building. Rob sucks Harmony’s tits before letting her drop down to mouth his manhood. Rob drops down to kiss Harmony’s kitty and let her fuck his fingers. He fucks Harmony standing up before giving it to her from behind before taking her ass reverse cowgirl style and spooning it. Finally, Harmony takes Rob’s spooge spray on her tits.

This is a pretty good scene. I’ll admit that my expectations weren’t that high when I saw Harmony as the stereotypical implanted bleached blonde, but she does a great job here! She sucks a mean cock and really seems to get into the fucking as Rob works over each of her holes. With Harmony as the goddess of war I expected this one to be a bit more intense, but it still keeps the very soft feeling and leaves the scene feeling like it has a bit of untapped potential.

Skylar Knight finishes things up with Phantom of Love Joey Ray. They exchange oral favors before Joey fucks her missionary style on a piano bench. Surprisingly, he doesn’t take her in another position before popping on her stomach.

This is another fairly disappointing scene. Skylar and Joey appear to have some nice chemistry going, but instead of letting that flow, clips are stuck into this scene from all of the other scenes. This interrupts the flow of this scene almost constantly, and robs it of most of the heat.

Goddess is an extremely creative and artistic adult film. Sadly, that’s as much of a strength of the movie as it is a weakness. I love the artistic feeling of the scenes, especially in the Medusa and Isis scenes. It makes the feature feel grand and glorious, as well as making it feel like a labour of love. Unfortunately, the artistic nature of the scenes holds back each and every scene as well. Every scene is slowed down, and except for during the last scene, I didn’t remember hearing a single moan by the time the movie had finished. The lack of hearing the performers made Goddess feel very cool to me, even though it looked like the performers were really into the action in almost every scene. The scenes were also hurt by many sequences looking like they were repeating footage. Goddess is a great idea and I love the creativity in it, but it never comes close to fulfilling its potential.

Overall: Currently, most of Adam & Eve’s Premium Collection DVDs can be found online for between $13 and $22, with many stores offering them for around $18. Look at the low end for this one. The movie is overly artistic and you barely hear from the performers. The technical aspects are okay, but the audio lacks and there isn’t much for extras. It’s a beautiful feature, but not too hot.

Note to Adam & Eve: There’s some nice thought here, and I hope it comes together all the way somewhere in the future!
