Lesbian videos are incredibly popular, and they're a favorite fantasy for straight guys. And yet most of them suck. Why?

A lot of it comes from the fact that a lot of the performers aren't lesbian, or even bi. They're just performing for a paycheck and when it's over it's done. So you get these videos where the girls strip and spend an hour lapping each others clits like labarador retrievers at a water bowl on a hot day, or getting their arms in up to their elbows, but a kiss? More than a peck looks like "ewww! Gross!" Nipples get a cursory suck. A shoulder rub, then a girl drops on her back and spreads her legs and twenty minutes of muff-diving ensues while both girls whine and wail as if they'd just missed a great sale on shoes.

There's a scene with Christy Canyon and a girl, and Christy says, "suck on my tits," a phrase that haunts my dreams, and the girl just gives her a doe-in-the-headlights look and gives them a quick rub. Cooties!

Christ! How bad can these get? Very bad, because that's the norm.

Abby Winters is the exception. When I first saw their girl/girl scenes, I wondered if the girls were really lesbians, because they look like what I imagined real real lesbian sex looked like. I still don't know, but I don't care. The sex looks real, the orgasms look real, the girls look like they're really into the sex, not just some dumb two-girl virtual lapdance that's as stylized and choreographed as water ballet.

This DVD has two main features, each with two girls. The first is Cleo and Violet, the second with Em and GIlian. Each feature gets about 6 chapters so you can skip around. Unlike a lot of movies which have checklists of positions or acts, these flow freely from one thing to another, so they look like real romps-in-the-sheets, rather than a series of reactions to an off-camera director. That makes it particularly immersive, and the moving camera is the only reminder that there's anyone else in the room besides the girls.

Production values are very good. Video and sound are crisp, clean and colorful. The scenes are shot in real homes or detailed sets. The girls look like college girls, young and natural and healthy looking. They're not glitzy gorgeous, and none of them appear to have seen a plastic surgeon yet. On the other hand, if you like your girls voluptuous or very busty, you'll need to find an AW title with other performers.

Special Features: This one has two of another AW specialty, the pre- and post-shoot interviews. Each couple gets an interview. There are also trailers for other movies, but that's it.

Final verdict: If you like lesbian action, real lesbian sex, not bullshit lap-dance/stripper shows, this is must-see DVD.
