The Short Story

Initial Expectations: Abby Winter's girl – girl movies have really impressed me. I can't help but look forward to every new installment.

Initial Reaction: There's some great action here, but with a movie that only lasts about forty five minutes before the extras are taken into account I couldn't help but feel like there should have been more here.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done. The audio is clear and well balanced and I didn't notice any background noises even in the outdoor portions of the scene. The video is nicely presented in anamorphic widescreen. There's a touch of grain and a little very minor camera motion, but for the most part it's clear, smooth, and nicely lit.

Music: There's a little soft music to start out the scene, but it quickly disappears.

Menus: The main menu blends a few clips from the movie with simply laid out choices. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a chapter number.

The Feature

When you care about somebody, it's amazing the things that can get the moment started. For Chloe and Marigold it's a mishap at the grill with an empty tank of propane. A lack of propane, however, isn't going to stop the heat from building up between the two of them.

Scene 1 – Chloe B. and Marigold

Strawberry blonde Chloe starts things out getting some food ready to grill up outside while dark brunette Marigold tries to hook up the gas and figure out how to light the grill. When it doesn't light they argue a bit on who's fault it is that the gas canister is empty before slapping each other with sausages and throwing a bit of the food at each other. Naturally their little spat turns to some passionate kissing and Marigold's shirt slides off before they start heading inside, kissing and groping each other all the way. This is a great scene. Even though the scene lasts nearly forty five minutes and is completely devoid of toys, the scene never drags once. There's fantastic passion between the two girls, and the action feels completely natural between them. They look to care not just that each other has a good experience, but about each other in general. This is what a girl on girl scene should be like.

Girls Down Under is a great scene. There's fantastic chemistry between the girls and it's captured very well. That said, it also doesn't quite make forty five minutes in length including the credits. Although the scene works very well for me, having it be the only scene in the movie and the movie being that short makes this seem like an easy release for people to skip by. Yes, I realize that there's two bonus scenes, but that still doesn't change the fact the they're extras and not part of the main movie. If Marigold and Chloe's bonus scene was included as part of the movie this would be a moot point, and the good news is that this is just a simple change in authoring and presentation and nothing about the action in the movie itself that's holding back the overall DVD. Girls Down Under is a great scene, but the overall main feature lacks by only being one scene that doesn't even last forty five minutes.

The Extra Stuff

The photo gallery lasts about a minute and a half with roughly four seconds per good looking snapshot or full screen capture. Trailers are included for Intimate Moments Shared, Girls in Private, Secret Pleasures, and the Abby Winters Website. There's also a behind the scenes feautrette, two bonus scenes, and credits.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts about ten minutes and is very nicely presented in anamorphic widescreen. After a quick opening with Chloe and Marigold on the bed it moves through some of the fun with Chloe, Marigold, and Susie as they run into problems shooting the grill portion of the scene. There's also a little time spent shooting the stills and other things going wrong around the girls throughout the shoot. This is a very fun behind the scenes featurette. Bonus Scene 1 – Chloe B. and Marigold

This is quite simply the best “Intimate Moments” scene I've seen from Abby Winters, partially because there's a little something going on between the girls rather than just having them diddle themselves laying next to each other. The girls each have several very natural and real feeling orgasms and there's a very nice pace to the scene. I also love how well it fits in with the feature scene. It fits in so well that with the interaction between the girls I couldn't help but wish that this would have been the second scene for the feature. I know it's just a simple authoring and layout change, but it would leave the main feature running over and hour and I think that would make a fair difference to a lot of people as many amateur releases run about an hour. This is a great scene and every bit as hot as the main feature.

Bonus Scene 2 – Michelle R. and Tammy B.

The girls into it okay, but there was just a little something missing for me. It might have been that neither of the girls drew me in much, but I just couldn't get into this scene as well as the others. This is one of those scenes that just didn't work well for me but which I could see others getting into very well.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many Abby Winters DVDs can be found online for between about $10 and $30 with several stores offering them in the $15 range. At the low end this one's a great deal. The sex is nicely captured, fun, and passionate, but at forty five minutes for the main feature I can easily understand many wanting to just rent it rather than buying it. The technical aspects show some nice care, and there's plenty of care put into the extras. With a few authoring tweaks this could have been a very good DVD rather than just a pretty good one.

Note to Abby Winters: People do take running time into their decision making even when the action is as good as it is in your movies. A few minor changes could have easily made this a better overall DVD. Also, please list a running time for your features instead of including all of the extras as that's the main thing to draw people in. When you list a total running time close to two hours like you did here, and then only give them a forty five minute movie, even though you weren't quite being dishonest it's easy to not trust your cover claims in the future. I think this release would have felt much better if both of the Chloe B. and Marigold scenes were included as the main feature rather than leaving one as a bonus.
