Audio /Video Quality:
The technical aspects are pretty good. The audio is nicely balanced, but the level changes a bit throughout the movie and there are quite a few background noises due to a lot of the movie being shot outside. There's a fair amount of wind noise, but with how windy it looked to be outside it's really impressive that it isn't a lot worse. The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen and looks very nice. There's just a hint of softness that works very good for the presentation as well as nicely done lighting and a steady hand on the camera. This might not be a perfect presentation, but for the conditions it is very impressive.
Watermark Warning:
Although I don't know of anyone who likes to see watermarks, I can't fault any studio who takes measures to try to protect themselves from the rampant internet piracy. Smash Pictures has a pretty decent watermark in the lower right corner. It's a touch big, but the main problem with it is that it uses a fairly bright pink for the “Smash” part of the watermark, and between the bright color and location it really makes the watermark stand out. It drew my eyes to it many times, which I really noticed when I was trying to decide on screen captures for this review. Smash is definitely on the right track here if they're going to include a watermark on their releases, but it would be greatly improved if it were a little smaller and not as bright for their future releases.
The Movie:
Girl Fiction features four all girl scenes with older women and younger girls. Each scene has a short story to set things up, and features a few breaks throughout the scene for one or both of the ladies to stop and give their thoughts on what's happening.

Girl Fiction is yet another solid lesbian release from Tanya Tate. I know it might annoy some, but having each scene stop for one of the ladies to talk to the camera about the action really worked well for me. It was a fun style and helped set Girl Fiction apart in a genre that can often seem quite limited. I also liked the setups for each scene. Yes, they can be a bit predictable at times, but they do a nice job establishing chemistry, working in a bit of tease, and just plain making the scenes fun. As for the action, that also worked very well for me and I was impressed how even it was throughout the movie. Tanya and Jenna started things out on a very high note, and it just plain didn't slow down. I especially loved Mercedes seduction of Chloe, while Alexis taking on Val and Alexa seemed just a little limited even if the chemistry was good. The action is also helped out by some very nice locations and outfits, as well as a very nice pace. If there's a complaint about Girl Fiction, the only one I can really come up with is that a lot of the locations are outside and the wind and some of the other action in the background is fairly noticeable. That said, the wind also looks like it was howling, and when I factored that in I ended up pretty impressed with the overall presentation. Girl Fiction is a great debut release for Tanya Tate with Smash Pictures, and even though I'm not a big fan of lesbian movies, I can't help but look forward to what Tanya does next.
The Extras:
Trailers are included for three other releases. Two photo galleries are included, a standard gallery and a glamor gallery, each of which last nearly ten minutes. There's also a behind the scenes featurette and interviews.
The behind the scenes featurette lasts about seven and a quarter minutes. There's a little fun between the girls, but the big focus here is on shooting photos. There's action photos as well as posing in front of a white screen which makes for plenty of eye candy but not a lot of extra substance.
The interviews last twenty eight minutes, and include the entire cast. Tanya starts things out talking about this being her first movie for Smash and talking a little about what makes it different from her other movies. Jenna talks about her scene, shares a couple sex stories, and talks about what she's hoping for with Tanya. Anya and Sandy each talk about their scene, seduction, and their personal sexual preferences. Cleo talks about her scene and where to find her online before Mercedes talks about seduction and her sexual preferences. Val talks about enjoying being seduced by MILFs, getting frisky, and where her fans can find her online. Alexis shows off plenty of personality as she talks about her scene, the beauty of coconut oil, her boobs and how friendly they are, and where to find her online. Finally Alexa talks about their scene, girls, how she's normally casted, and where to find her online. This is a very good collection of interviews. You get plenty of eye candy and personality from the girls, and it gives a very nice feeling for the movie. The only complaint I can really have about it is that Tanya Tate isn't behind the camera for them, as she seems to bring plenty out of her performers in her other movies. This is a great addition to the overall release that definitely brings it up a notch.
Final Thoughts:
It's yet another must buy lesbian release from Tanya Tate.
