Gia: Portrait of a Porn Star Review

Good morning porn fans got a quickie here and it's a big movie actually from Sunny Leone. The story is based on the Gia story and if you remember a few years back Angelina Jolie did a movie called Gia which also starred Elizabeth Mitchell as her female lover, well Sunny's lover in this one is the current Female Performer of the Year Tori Black so I'd say she did pretty good casting there. There are already a couple reviews on this one so let me just give a few impressions of what I took from this movie which Sunny decribed as her baby in the BTS.

The story as I mentioned is loosely based on the supermodel Gia from the 1980's who skyrocketed to fame and fortune and then suffered a big crash falling in drug abuse and eventually she loses her life. The same happens to Sunny in this movie as we see her not innocent but coming in off the streets to Herschel Savage's office to answer an ad for modeling. They come up with the Gia name and we soon Sunny's off on her first modeling gig with Monica Mayhem which neatly turned into our first scene. Sunny ends up with five scenes all told in pretty succession too. Some good shots as the ladies do their thing and I'm definitely a fan of the g/g especially when I'm gazing at such a beauty as Sunny and you add in Monica as the sex photographer, I'm down! Soon after this she meets Tori who's a makeup artist and the two connect right away leading to an early tryst but not a permanent hook up.

This movie also features some b/g action for Sunny with Ariel King who plays a male porn star, I know a big stretch! It seems like Ariel's character was the one who first introduced Gia to drugs too, at first I thought it was just marijuana but for what happened to Sunny's character to happen then she had to get into bigger drugs later on. That isn't hinted at or talked about much beyond seeing Gia smoke a couple times and I guess you can assume she was smoking heroin or cocaine- though I didn't see a pipe but please don't hold me to that as I'm not drug expert. The story is serious as we watch Gia descend. For a time she only does girls but that holds her money flow back and Ariel even suggests at the behest of the higher ups that Gia go back to doing guys so that leads to their breakup. Gia doesn't like to be alone so almost immediately she hooks up with Tori on a more permanent gig but even that is ruined when Tori finds Sunny's stash. The movie also features great interview segments as we listen to porn performers, legends in the biz, directors, PR people talk about their memories of Gia- it sounded so real and certainly added to the story. You know Gia dies but not before she tries rehab leading to a good scene with Sunny alone in a cell rolling about on the floor, the bed, banging her head against the wall-- suffering the big with drawl. Gia also tries directing some scenes in this and that gives us two good scenes, one with Breanne Benson and the other with Lexi Belle. I should also mention Jennifer Dark gets in on the action too so Sunny doesn't skimp on the talent in this, five scenes with her and then you add in those other hotties.

The subject matter was serious but the movie doesn't get preachy about it, just lays out the story with some good dialogue from the main participants- Sunny, Tori, Ariel and Herschel early on. The final death scene was emotional as we watch Tori lie in bed with Sunny who definitely has the look of near death but this proves to much for Tori who leaves and those last few moments feature just Sunny lying there. We see the time change, you hear the heart monitor beeping and then finally the last few beeps and then flat line. Life is what you make it, have no regrets-- the final send off from Sunny as the movie closes. Have to agree with those words.

Now for extras the movie provides a separate disc which features those interviews we watched spliced into the proper movie. There's a photo gallery as well as a nice BTS sgement where Sunny, the director both offer up good information/ motivation on how this project came together. It wasn't easy to do and I think they did pretty good and for fans of Sunny you get some fantastic sex, two scenes with Tori Black, two with her main man Ariel King and one with Monica Mayhem to start the show. Add in strong scenes from Lexi Belle, Jennifer Dark and Breanne Benson make this an event dvd and one worth checking out. I didn't even touch on Sunny's anal work in this which was with a toy courtesy of one Tori Black!
