"Gangsters at Large" is probably the most ethnically diverse Kristen Bjorn video this side of "World of Men," with North American, European, and South American models.

Story Synopsis: Tyler Grey has been kidnapped! Private eye Steve Sax has to track him down, defying both the Russian Mafia and the Columbian Lords. Oh, and there is a lot of sex along the way. The plot is about average for most porn, but is Masterpiece Theatre compared to most gay porn... still, I will hold it to the best the industry can offer and give the plot only a three.

Scene 1: Steve Sax, the cutest of the American models in this video, goes undercover at the modelling company where Grey was last seen. Of course, the company is a front for a kidnapping operation, and the Sax finds himself drugged while he is supposed to be in a photo shoot.. Boris Tominand Alexei Gromov help him strip down for the cameraman, whose face we never see but whose hard cock is well in (his) hand for the majority of the shoot. Scene 3: Steve Sax finds himself bound to a wall by fortunately loose leather wrist chains. And who should be in the fence across from him but Tyler Grey! Rafael Perez, apparently cousin of some Columbian family (the Velasquez's, I assume) if locked up with him. In the director's commentary, it is revealed that the scene was originally just going to be Sax and Tyler, but the two couldn't get into each other (I assume this means "Mr. Softy" problems). Both had no trouble getting it up for Rafael, though, so Bjorn changed the story around and the paring turned into a threeway.

Scene 4: I believe that this scene won the 1997 GVG Award for best group scene. It begins with the hot Kalman Faludi retrained like Sax earlier, and magically cumming on his own (must be a useful trick!). The beefy Csaba Zsiros bound next to him undoubtedly helped somewhat, as did Akos Matyas one device over. A crowd of fifteen masked men (well, that is how they are billed in the credits) are watching while the three onstage get down to business. Basically the watchers being in masks and blue jeans while the Akos and Kalman give a double BJ to Csaba, then strip down and start a massive orgy while Akos, Kalman, and Csaba go through the porno ropes. Csaba is shouting through much of the scene's beginning for some reason- I assume he is trying to escape the ropes (though why he would want to be free while having the adorable Kalman and well-hung Akos slurping on his cock, I'll never fathom). This scene is pretty hot, and those Greek boys are cute! Csaba's face is a little plain but his muscles make up for it, and I have a thing for sharp features like Kalman's. I find a model's face and eyes as sexual as their bodies, in case you haven't detected, and there is the only weakness with the scene- I didn't care for the masks of the fifteen orgy guys. The bodies were hot and the cocks were big (generally), but the anonymous sex wasn't a big turn on for me. Still, I think most guys would love this stuff!

Scene 5: The last whole scene of the movie is one of the best. The Russians (returning Alexei, cutie Sergei Jordonov, and the absolutely beautiful Ivan Cseska) are bringing in a blonde American (Garret Hunt) when the Columbians (sexy older-type Adriano Marquez, and entirely forgettable Pedro Pandilla) cum knocking (looking for their cousin). Being in rival gangs, competition soon arises- "Who has the bigger cocks, Columbians or Russians?" Useful that they all somehow understand each others' languages and we have subtitles, eh? I won't tell who wins, but the two competitors' (Ivan and Pedro) hard cocks are too much for Sergei to resist! This is where I really wish the American would shut up, because his mundane comments ("yeah, suck that cock!") just ruin the scene for me. I guess Alexei gets bugged too, because he start licking Garret's ass to divert him (jockstrap fans, Garret is wearing one!) Anyway, I guess they decide to go for best of three for the whole competition, because Adriano wants to know who can shoot the biggest load. Sergei jacks the pair of to simultanious cumming, but there is no solid winner yet... next up, the blowjob competition! Pedro and Ivan suck off Alexei and Sergei respectively, with Adriano and Garret cheering them on from the sidelines (someone needs to stick something in their mouths to shut them up! Well, a blow-by-blow of the rest of the scene would take forever, but I will just say that it is the best group scene I have ever seen! I hope this was the scene that won that GVG award!

Scene 5.5: Just FYI, the movie ends with Tyler giving Sax a quick BJ- not really much of a sex scene, but it has the "surprise" ending that wraps up all the loose ends of the "plot." I won't tell the ending here just in case someone actually is interested in the plot.. actually, I will, becuase it is so trite it deserves to br ruined--- (skip to the next paragraph if you don't want to know)--- the whole thing was a dream! Sax and Tyler are lovers and Sax was having some fantasy/dream.

Extras: The picture slideshow is accompanied by Bjorn himself talking about the production of the movie (with an option to mute the narration, for those who just want to see the pictures)- interesting material for fans of Bjorn, which all gay men should be! No trailers, but that's the norm for Bjorn DVDs. I really like the commentary though, so the "extras" gets a four.

Video Quality: I warn you now that I am not an expert by any means on video quality, but the high-end of porn AV to me is Bel Ami (his later works expecially). Given that standard and that this is a DVD, I feel pretty comfortable still giving this film a five. The editing is top- notch, the lighting never fails, and the audio never skips.

Bottom Line: Another great video from Kristen Bjorn, but more importantly, it is distinct enough from his other movies to satisfy anyone who might be a little jaded with Bjorn. The guys are mostly top notch, and for every so-so guy there are two that are so hot that entire videos could be made around them (not like anyone would ever try and do that, right?). Given the large cast, the ugly guys only dropped the "male looks" rating a half point- and were the masks not present in the orgy scene, it would probably have been a five.

Definitely my favorite video, but then it is also my only Kristen Bjorn video (I have seen the others but own none). But, if I owned only one gay video, this would be it (sorry Bel Ami- if you would start making DVDs, maybe I would change my mind...)
