The Movie

G O'Clock is a fictional short film by writer and director Mitchell Marion that explores the use of gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid, more commonly known as GHB, in the gay party scene and the negative effects that GHB has for the users. Mitchell Marion has done an excellent job of fitting a lot into a very short time frame yet not making the short film feel crammed or overwhelming.

G O'Clock looks at the issue of GHB on the gay party scene by looking at the character of Alex (Phillip Weddell). Alex is a paramedic, who has seen the results of GHB partying gone wrong close up on the job. However, Alex is gay and, on the side, also participates in the GHB party scene thinking he is smart enough to handle GHB. He brings gay GHB partier Nik (Mark 'Kibo' Rovira) under his wing to teach Nik how to handle partying with GHB. But does Alex really know what he is doing more than anyone else?

Mitchell Marion does a great job of creating three-dimensional characters in the short time that is offered in G O'Clock and the cast does a great job of bringing Marion's characters to life on the screen. Marion also does a good job creating a conversation piece about GHB use in the gay party scene in a non-condescending manner. G O'Clock is beautifully shot and has some unique lighting techniques that bring the short film to life. Marion also does a great job of making softcore sex scenes look hardcore. G O'Clock is well worth watching.

Final Thoughts

G O'Clock has been released by NakedSword through their NakedSword Film Works (NSFW) division that was launched in 2016 to exhibit gay independent movies that aren't exactly pornographic yet aren't exactly mainstream. G O'Clock talks about the issue of using GHB at gay parties by looking at a gay paramedic, Alex, who parties with GHB on the side because he believes he is smart enough to handle the drug. G O'Clock has some great acting, a good story, and will honestly make the viewer think at the end. G O'Clock is well worth watching.
