The tones & mood send back to the opening scene, with warm colours & sensuous shadows sublimating this trio of perfect bodies. Quite unexpected ! A brilliant climax.


SO ? : Floored. I'm floored. I bought this Paul Thomas movie expecting a heavily scripted couple drama, and while the drama is undoubtedly there, the script seems to have vanished. Couple-in-crisis Savanna & Justin free-wheel their resentment and/or displays of affection in a series of improvised jousts which, though inevitably overacted, keep the minimal plot alive and, instead of weighing in the sex, actually enhances it. Paul Thomas' direction unexpectedly switches from classic to freestyle, its surprising editing choices & various visual codes punctuated by a couple of innocent Lynchian visions. Missy Monroe dancing naked on the lawn is a sight you're not likely to forget. A repetitive jazzy theme adds to the kooky atmosphere. Save for a sound editing mishap happening in the aftermath of Savanna & Justin's blistering bathroom romp, there's nothing to keep this pleasantly unsettling scorcher from achieving its fully-deserved 5-star status, and it would be sorry that the upcoming release of the same director's "New Devil in Miss Jones" eclipses its tranquil brilliance. Savanna Samson is perfect. Simple and fantastic.
