Initial Expectations: John Leslie has made some amazing gonzo sex features. I’m hoping this is another to add to the list.

Initial Reaction: It’s very well done and should please a lot of fans of John Leslie’s style.

Audio /Video Quality: John Leslie has a very distinct style to many of his movies, which gives them a kind of minimalist approach that some might consider a sign of low production values, but are done deliberately. The lighting is often a bit on the low side, which makes it appear that he was using the natural light present rather than bringing in a lot of lights to kill every shadow. There’s also a bit of grain to his features, which gives it a little bit of a film look. This is completely deliberate from what I’ve been told, as Mr. Leslie shoots on video and then adds the grain in later through one of his mastering processes. The audio has a little bit of background noise, but it’s very little and barely noticeable. For the most part, the audio is very clear and very well balanced.

Music: None.

Menus: As usual, Evil Angel has some of the best thought out menus around. The main menu is nicely done with a little bit of animation to give it a nice start. The chapter menu nicely lists the star in each chapter, which is something Evil Angel has done almost from the start. It’s a great touch and shows a lot of care for the viewer. Finally, they have a fetish menu that allows you to watch specific sex acts. This is something else that Evil Angel has done for a long time, and once again shows a lot of care for the viewer and trying to give the viewers what they want to see.

The Feature: John Leslie’s twelfth entry to the Fresh Meat series focuses entirely on European performers, all of which appear to be completely natural. There’s almost no lead in to any scene, and it’s rare to have to even go thirty seconds into a scene before something happens. The scenes are also completely independent, so if a viewer doesn’t care for a particular star they can easily skip past the scene without worrying about missing too much.

Rita Faltoyano, a very realistic and cute looking brunette (on the cover she looks very blonde), starts things off with Chris Mountain, Ian Scott, and Pascal St. James. Pascal shows off Rita’s ass, which is enough to stop traffic as they stand on a second floor landing. For those who haven’t seen Leslie’s style, he has a minimalist feel to it that gives them a very simple feeling. The lighting is often a bit on the low side, and it often feels like he tries to use as much natural light as possible. This gives many of John Leslie’s scenes a bit of a more realistic feel. The performers help this out also, since they don’t get into the moaning frenzy that many of today’s performers do. It’s clear that they’re enjoying what they’re doing, but they let their entire body tell you rather than telling you through loud one syllable words. John Leslie also uses a few different camera angles. He uses quite a few longer distance shots here so you see everything that’s going on with the group, and often holds back a little on the close-ups, so you can see the close-up as well as a bit more of the action, such as natural tits jiggling, which is always nice to see. Personally, I enjoyed the scene between Petra Short, Veronica B., and the Animal the best, but Suzanne, Nick Lange, and Leslie Taylor weren’t far behind. All combined, it lets Fresh Meat 12 stand nicely apart from many of the other adult movies that are being made today, and allows it to stand there with the pride of a job well done.

Extras: The photo gallery contains about forty eight very nice looking photos. Trailers are included for The Voyeur 7, The Voyeur 18, and Fresh Meat 4. The cast listing nicely lets you know who’s in each scene, and the filmographies help things even further by identifying each of the girls, giving you a photo of them, and letting you know of their other Evil Angel films. Rounding off the more minor extras is website information, a bio for John Leslie, and a short commercial for the John Leslie Blues Band CD, which sounds pretty dang good.

The main extra, however, is almost forty minutes of extra sexual footage. It’s nicely set up with an opening menu that lets you jump directly to any of the scenes, which should make fans of certain stars very happy. John Leslie’s comments to the talent are left in throughout the footage, which lets this also work as a kind of behind the scenes look at the feature. He doesn’t say too much, so it isn’t so much that it ruins it for people who are watching it solely for the sex, but it is there enough for the people who enjoy learning about how the feature was made. Although some of the sex might feel familiar, there’s quite a bit that feels completely new, and I think there might have even been an extra position or two thrown in. It’s a great extra, and one that I’m very pleased John Leslie has continued to include in so many of his features.

Overall: Currently, Fresh Meat 12 can be found online for between $20 (on sale) and $32 with most stores offering it for around $25. If you’re a fan of anal sex and European girls, this one is going to be well worth the money and have a lot of replay value. The girls are all natural, and most get into the sex extremely well. The transfer appears well done, but with Leslie’s minimalist style, some people might be a little turned off. The extras are also very well done, and the extra footage nicely adds to the package.
