The Review

Synopsis:
Freakazoids is a plotless gonzo style all-sex film.

Video/Audio:
Freakazoids is presented in the full screen aspect ratio, 1.33:1, which appears to be the original aspect ratio for the film. The picture is soft with no artifacts or blemishes present. The color levels are correctly set.

The available audio track is a 2.0 English Mono track which is more than adequate for the film. There is no dialog to the film and the music sounds good. As the music is not present during the sex scene, it never drowns out the sex noises. There are no other language tracks and no subtitle options available or necessary given the style of the film. A viewer of any language can watch the film and understand what is going on.

Chapters/Time Code:
There are no chapters available in the film at all. The entire film is on one big chapter. There is a time code so that is your only means of navigation through the film. This navigation set up is unacceptable and makes it very difficult to find any portion of the film, let alone the part you are looking for.

Special Features:
Freakazoids is crammed with an amazingly huge volume of no extra features. Nothing what-so-ever. The box promises a photo gallery but it is not present anywhere on the disc.

Review:
To begin with I must comment on the cheapness of the presentation of the film. When you pop the disc in the movie starts, a common occurrence on some discs, but when you attempt to go to the menu you find the truth behind the disc, there is no menu system at all, just the film. The box proudly proclaims that the disc contains “motion chapters,” “jump to the sex scene you want” and a “photo gallery of at least 100 shots” but apparently these features were to time consuming to put on the disc. That is just as well since with no menu system it would be impossible to use these features. The film itself is on one track containing one chapter and amazingly enough Elegant Angel did throw in the money for a time code. On top of all this, the picture is soft, just as it would be on a VHS tape. In short, the only benefit that you get from buying this film on disc over a VHS tape is, assuming that it is manufactured with genuine plastic, the disc won't break down over time. I removed one and a half stars from the overall rating due to this.

The film itself I found to be rather average. There is no plot to get in the way of the sex, so viewers that hate it when an adult actress tries to act will be pleased. The sex scenes run from long to extremely long, so viewers that hate short sex scenes will be pleased. Prior to each of the sex scenes, the film does use negative photography and motion enhanced scenes, which I felt did not work in favor of the film.

The scenes themselves start in the same fashion. You get to watch a girl or girls in a short soft-core scene. Then they go into the hardcore sex. During the soft-core portion, there is rap music as the only audio in the scene. When they go into the hardcore portion, the rap music goes away and the only audio is the moans and groans of the performers. In the first scene, between the soft-core portion and the hardcore portion, they showed the male being picked up by the girls with motion enhanced video, which worked very poorly for the scene.

The sex scenes start out tame at the beginning of the film and slowly get harder as the film goes on. The talent in the film is attractive, so at least they don't hurt your eyes while you are watching the film, and seem to be having fun with each other. The sexual themes that are present during the film are vaginal, anal and oral sex with toys, rimming (male to female), and DP.

The Money Shot:
I only recommend purchasing this film if you are a hardened fan of the film or stars and must have it. If you do purchase it, don't pay more than you would pay for a VHS since there is no benefit to buying it on DVD format. If you are not a hardened fan, I would recommend passing on this disc altogether.
