Of Jules Jordan's various lines, Flesh Hunter is more of the general gonzo genre, without the specific fetishes in Ass Worship, Weapons of Anal Destruction, Feeding Frenzy, etc. Because my preference is largely one-on-one sex and anal isn't a requirement for every scene, the variety of Flesh Hunter scenes works well for me.

Things I have come to expect from a Jules Jordan video: hot babes in sexy outfits, generous tease footage, scorching sex, and great production values. As he has started releasing two-disc sets on DVD, the viewer gets more of the good stuff. Seven scenes totaling over four hours are split between two discs; all of the DVD extras are on the second disc.

It looks like the eighth episode has a very solid and attractive cast: with at least one future Hall of Famer, the incomparable Tiffany Mynx, and one porn debutante, Merrick Morgan.

The opening credits (7:35) gives us a taste of what's in store and introduces us to the girls, logically in order by scene. Jules also uses these intros as trailers, both in other DVDs as well as online (the 24.2MB QuickTime file I downloaded from Evil Angel's website knocked my socks off).

Production Values

Jules Jordan is amongst a handful on gonzo directors who put a substantial effort into high-quality video and audio production. While it is really just nit-picking, a few shots have a rather orangish cast, so the assistant cameraman needs to check white balance more frequently.

The DVD menus are simple and easy to use although the text is a bit small on some screens (more nit-picking). There are some quick, but very pretty and colorful kaleidoscopic transitions between some of the menus.

Post-production and mastering was handled by DVDemon and, as always, the results are superb.

DVD Extras

Fetish Menu - Six categories: Tease, Blowjobs, Toys, Anal, Double Penetration, and Cumshots are conveniently broken up into individual chapters.

Extra Footage (47:40) - While some of this footage is indistinguishable from that of the feature, there are some moments where there's an unsteady hand or some direction being given. A few bloopers pepper the segments as well as some behind-the-scenes moments. As Jules and Christie Lee watch some of Kayla Marie's scene with Mandingo from Once You Go Black You Never Go Back 3, we are treated to some truly genuine looking expressions on Christie's face and her enthusiasm; that just takes the cake for me. There's also a spectacular shot of Tiffany Holiday's cum-covered body and her deep blue eyes. Unsurprisingly, the extra footage of Tiffany Mynx is just as hot as anything in her segment in the feature. Gina Lynn's extra footage includes a fair amount of behind-the-scene stuff, including her getting dressed and the photo shoot after Jules's cumshot.

Conclusion

I don't think anyone can say that they're not getting their money's worth with this two-disc set. If the cast list appeals to you, you're going to really like it.

What it may come down to is whether or not you like the longer-length scenes. Some people will prefer the snappier pace of a more tightly-edited feature. Others will revel in the more comprehensive presentation of a director's cut. Conceivably, the first six scenes could have edited down to 20 minutes apiece with a special Merrick Morgan intro apart from the feature.

Personally, I like the longer scene setups and tease segments. Too many gonzos have girls walking through the front door and immediately dropping to their knees to suck cock, all in the desperate goal of cramming as much sex as possible into the 140 minute limit of a standard VHS cassette.

Understandably, Merrick's scene is the weakest here since it is her porn debut, but she's up against some very good performers. Even in the twilight of her long career and when others might be half-heartedly going through the motions, Tiffany Mynx keeps dishing out truly solid performances. The scene that really stands out for me is Christie Lee's pairing with monster dick Mandingo.

My expectations for Jules Jordan are almost impossibly high; what is less than perfect for him would the crowning achievement in most gonzo shooters' portfolios. That, rather than the lack of a decimal-point rating system is why I'm going to give the overall score of five.
