Initial Expectations: I don't think I've seen anything from Reality Kings before, but with this series being nominated for an XRCO award I can't help but have pretty high expectations for it.

Initial Reaction: It didn't take long for me to realize how this series earned an XRCO nomination, and left me looking forward to checking out more of the series.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done. The audio is clear and well balanced, including the comments from behind the camera. The video is presented in the full frame format and looks nice. There are a few places with some minor pixelation, but the lighting is well done and the camera work is smooth.

Music: There's a little minor and generic music at the start and end of each scene that doesn't do much one way or another for the movie.

Menus: The main menu is fairly generic, and gives a few clips of action from the movie along with a little minor animation and the cover still. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene along with the name of the girl in the scene. There's also the option to choose a scene based on a headshot of each girl and her name.

The Feature

The First Time Auditions series keeps things pretty simple. Each scene start with a girl answering an ad in the paper or being discovered on the street before moving through a little interview and tease. Finally the girl shows some of what she can do.

First Time Auditions 9 definitely gave me a great first impression. So often when I watch “First Time” movies it seems like I've already seen half of the girls in the movie, and even if it was their first time in front of the camera it just doesn't seem like it because I've already watched the girls in action multiple times. That isn't the case with First Time Auditions 9, and even though the girls do feel like they have a bit of experience the fantasy of it being their first time in front of the camera is perpetuated nicely. Cristien is the only girl who fell a bit short for me, which is due to her attitude more than anything, and all of the girls had a look to them as if they might have just come off the street rather than being around the industry for a few months. I always go into movies like this with a bit of hesitation, but First Time Auditions 9 surprised me in a very good way and definitely has me looking forward to checking out more of the series.

Currently, many Reality Kings DVDs can be found online for between about $16 and $24 with most stores offering them for $20 or under. At the low end this one's a great buy. The girls have a fresh and real feeling to them and the action is nicely captured. The technical aspects also show some nice care, although there unfortunately isn't any effort put into the extras. This is a hot movie on a DVD that could use a touch more care overall.

Note to Reality Kings: It's easy to see why you've earned a reputation as being a top notch reality porn studio. I hope that in the near future you put a little effort into the extras on your DVDs instead of just into your scenes.
