The Short Story

Initial Expectations: I think Paul Norman made some decent movies, and P. J. and Jill headlining this one has me interested and expecting something decent.

Initial Reaction: It has a few good ideas, but comes out dull and uninspired mostly due to the camera work.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody missing early nineties porn or who’s an extrmee Jill Kelly or P. J. Sparxx fan

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting well balanced camera work and porn that gets the blood flowing good.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: For a movie from the mid-nineties, the technical aspects are pretty good. The audio is clear and well balanced, although there are a couple points were I thought I heard a very brief and very quiet background noise. The video is just as good. It’s extremely clear and nicely lit. There are a few shadows, but they normally fit in with the locations and don’t interfere with things too much.

Music: The music is pretty typical for early to mid nineties couples porn, and is definitely a bit on the loud side.

Menus: The main menu nicely brings animation to the boxcover for a very pleasing first impression. The chapter menu is fairly standard, and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a chapter number.

The Feature

After watching a private show with wife P. J. Sparxx, Mickey G. decides he doesn’t like how turned on she got. He tries to teach her a lesson about who’s in control with their relationship by making her have sex in back alleys with bums and even stripping. She’s a bit unsure about the stripping, but Jill takes her under her wing to help her get a decent start.

Scene 1 - Nikki Darling and Bobby Vitale

Nikki (who some might know as Nyrobi) starts things out on stage with Bobby while Jill Kelly, Vince Voyeur, P. J. Sparxx, and Mickey G. watch. After walking around the pole Bobby helps Nikki out of her bikini while kissing his way across her body and munching her muff. She gobbles his knob in return before laying back for him to bone her. After a little missionary work Nikki turns around for Bobby’s butt boning and then takes his nutty goodness on her ass.

This is an okay at best scene. Nikki looks to get into things okay, but you never see the penetration along with her response. Instead you get to see either close-ups of her face or the penetration and long distance shots of the action where you can’t see much of anything. This made it hard for me to get much of a feeling of chemistry, and left me bored with almost the entire scene.

Scene 2 - P. J. Sparxx and Tom Byron

Hubby Mickey G. makes P. J. get out of the car in a back alley and get it on with bum Tom, who really looks the part. She gets to her knees at Mickey’s command and starts sucking Tom while giving both of them plenty of eyes. Tom takes Mickey up on his offer to fuck P. J. after watching her play with herself and putting on the rubber Mickey throws at him.

This is a fairly uncomfortable scene, and is supposed to be that way. Mickey adds most of this to the scene, and both he and P. J. do a great job with their acting and the mistrust and dislike between them in their apparently loveless marriage. P. J. looks to get into it with Tom a bit, which doesn’t quite work for the scene, but it makes it much more watchable. The camera work is better than the first scene, but still leaves a bit to be desired.

Scene 3 - Jill Kelly and Nick Night

Jill follows Vince’s instructions when she goes to work stripping. She nonchalantly unzips Nick’s pants when giving him a lap dance, and starts fucking him. She bounces up and down on him until he pops as Vince watches it all from another table.

This is a short scene, and barely more than a tease. Unfortunately the camera work lacks again, and Jill seems almost like she’s phoning in her performance. This somewhat fits with the plot, but that doesn’t really make it fun to watch.

Scene 4 - Jill Kelly and Vince Voyeur

In the back room Jill has Vince eat her pussy while they’re both all horned up from her fucking Nick. She talks dirty to Vince about fucking the other guy as he tongues her, and after a bit sucks his cock in return. Jill moves back to ride Vince’s cock before having him pop in her pussy. Rather than let it go to waste, Jill moves up and has Vince eat his cum out of her pussy before she kisses it off of him.

This is an okay scene, mostly due to the camera work and slow pacing. There’s great chemistry between Vince and Jill, which shouldn’t be much of a surprise because I think they were involved with each other off screen at this time of their career. The camera work is okay, and surprisingly the cum eating didn’t hold the scene back too far. I have to give Wicked credit for trying something like that here, as I’m sure that it will turn off most guys and turn on quite a few women.

Scene 5 - Chonnone and Dick Nasty

While P. J. and Jill get it on on stage, Chonnone and Dick get it on elsewhere. Chonnone kisses her way across Dick’s body and down to his cock before letting him return the favor with his tongue and fingers. They keep things going as Dick stands up to fuck Chonnone while she lays back in her chair. Dick also fucks each of her holes from behind before ripping off his rubber and decorating her face nicely.

This is an okay scene that felt like it could have been better with a little different camera work. It’s rather lackluster even though there’s some nice energy and chemistry between Dick and Chonnone. I guess this is supposed to make it ‘couples friendly’, but instead it just left it feeling pretty dull.

Scene 6 - Jill Kelly and P. J. Sparxx

As soon as Dick and Chonnone finish up, Jill and P. J. really get into it. Jill licks both of P.J.’s holes and fingers her before letting P. J. return the favor. Finally they walk around the pole and kiss.

This is one heck of a boring scene! It’s back and forth and done, and I’m not sure but I think the dancing around before Dick and Chonnone’s scene might have been hotter than this scene. It’s a sad scene, and definitely ends the movie on a low note.

Fire and Ice: Caught in the Act is a disappointing couples feature. There’s some thought put towards the plot, but it never really goes all the way. It sets things up well, but then leaves things drop. Jill just comes off like a stripper slut because of it, and P. J. comes off as a broken down wife who will do any sexual act her husband tells her to. It’s not a good combination, especially since all the plot seems to do is tell us that’s what they’re like, and the camera work holds things back just as much. The scenes look like they have good chemistry and energy, but due to the style of the camera work everything is held back to being slow and more often than not, boring. I repeatedly had the feeling that Paul Norman was aiming more for a cable version than a hardcore version, and it ruined much of the sex for me. This was all too common in the early to mid nineties, but that doesn’t make it right. Fire and Ice: Caught in the Act might be worth watching if you do it on somebody else’s buck.

The Extra Stuff

The photo gallery lasts a little under a minute and a half with about four seconds per good looking snapshot. Audio bios are included for P. J. Sparxx, Channone, Jill Kelly, Tom Byron, and Vince Voyeur, each of which includes a little personal information, a few photos, and a link to the star’s scene. Trailers are included for Crazed, Double Feature!, Dream Quest, Flashpoint, Heartache, Hell on Heels, Knockout, Pornogothic, Satyr, Sex Safari, Spellbound, The Kissing Game, Vengeance, Working Girl, and The Bride of Double Feature. There’s also bloopers, promotional materials, DVD-ROM stuff, and a commercial for the Free Speech Coalition.

The blooper reel lasts two minutes. About a third of it is Vince Voyeur stumbling with a couple lines, which I guess might show why he’s only done gonzo porn now that he’s behind the camera. There’s also a bit between P. J. Sparxx and Jill Kelly, as well as a few sexual bloopers. It’s short and sweet, and gives you a nice variety of bloopers.

Currently, many of Wicked’s DVDs can be found online for between $15 and $30 with many stores offering them for around $21. Rent this one before you buy it! The movie’s disappointing, but there is some care put into the overall DVD. It has nice technical aspects and a little effort towards the extras.

Note to Wicked: It’s great to see you putting some of these older titles out at a low enough price that stores can offer them at a middle tier.
