Initial Expectations: Private’s Pirate is about the only series I can think of that nicely mixes well done hardcore sex with some good fetish aspects. I’m hoping this is going to become another series to rival it.

Initial Reaction: It starts with an okay idea and then shows almost exactly how it shouldn’t be done.

Who Should Watch It : Well, fetish junkies, meaning junkies who like fetish sex, preferably after shooting up

Who Should Avoid It: Most everybody else

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is very poor. It’s partially dubbed, and I think the synching could have been done better by deaf people who cared rather than whoever did it. The numbskulls who put this together couldn’t even synch a girl walking across a concrete floor right. There’s also some very hollow sounding audio, and some extremely off balanced audio with none of it even achieving average quality. Not surprisingly, the video is also a little below average and very grainy. It also has some odd tints and the colors aren’t anything close to consistent even throughout many of the scenes.

Music: The music has a kind of German techno feel that, in a word, sucks. It’s frequently too loud and sometimes is the only audio. Thankfully, there’s also a few places where it’s completely missing.

Menus: The main menu is fairly plain, and offers little to set it apart from any other releases. The chapter menu is pretty standard, offering a small clip from the scene to help you choose.

The Feature: Fetish Junkies tells the story of two guys watching fetish related porn scenes. They watch the scenes together while jerking off, and no, there aren’t any women present while this is happening. After each scene they put the tape back on the shelf, write a note or two, and move on. It’s not much of a plot or even framework, but it’s not much of a movie either.

Barbie Belle starts things out getting dressed in a pair of spiked heel knee high latex boots and a corset before dancing for a guy on the ledge above the couch he’s sitting on. She finally thinks she’s danced enough and tells him he has to eat her. He doesn’t take a lot of time to eat Barbie’s pussy, and instead makes it clear that she should do her womanly duty and suck his cock in a few positions. They move on to a little doggie style before stuffing her ass in a reverse cowgirl and spoon while frequently grinning like the Joker and fingering her pussy. Before cutting to Barbie taking the below average facial, the director shows a few seconds of somebody watching the scene and jerking off. I know this has a fetish feel, but this definitely wasn’t something I needed to see. Barbie is quite cute despite her poor implants, but this is a fairly poor scene. The guy is every bit as annoying as Ed Powers, even though he doesn’t say a single thing, and although Barbie does an okay job, she doesn’t do such a great job as to be able to save the scene.

Next up, Vashina, a slightly below average looking girl with dyed red hair and implants, performs for a group of people behind a glass wall. She starts out playing with herself before sucking Luke Loader’s tool She does a decent job, although nothing spectacular, and gets her pussy played with a little in return before getting nailed from behind. They move on to spoon and missionary before Vashina takes an impressive load from her stomach to her face. This was a pretty average scene, and almost all the credit goes to Vashina. It seemed pretty clear that she was really enjoying having the group of people watching them, and she pushed it nicely through the scene. Luke was pretty much there so it could be more than just a masturbation scene.

Jade Sweet, an attractive woman with straight dark hair and natural tits, starts out the next scene laying back in a corner tub wearing a bit of red fetishwear with red stockings and a garter belt. She washes up a bit before fishing toys out of the bubble bath to work over both her holes with, and thankfully not singing anything like “rub-a-dub-dub, stuff my snatch in the tub”. The camera moves away to show she has a partner sucking her toes, and she rewards him with a nice foot job before squirting water out her snatch. She moves on to give him a nice little hummer before taking some real meat in her twat, both in and out of the tub. Not surprisingly, she takes the guy in each of her holes, and gives her ass a good strong workout in several positions before taking an nice does of the guy’s ball butter in and around her mouth. It feels like it should be a good scene, but as usual, the editing really hurts it.

Diamond 4Ever, a cute dishwater blond with a pierced nipple and tongue, as well as an overall very nice body with a bald pussy, shows up where the guys are jerking off, and strangely appears to be there on purpose. She’s pretty easily the best looking girl here, and sucks off both of the guys while the audio concentrates on a drain in the same room. I’m not sure, but I think it’s the sound of director Marc Hendrix’s future going down the drain. She moves through a few of the standard positions, sometimes sucking or giving one a handjob while the other fucks her, before the guys kind of DP her. I say kind of because one guy fucks her while the other thumbs her ass. She continues to fuck Luke while the other guy jerks himself off, and shows herself to be quite the trooper. Luke seems to be having wood problems and frequently has to hold his cock so it doesn’t pop out of her pussy, yet she keeps moving on and acting like she’s enjoying it. The only time she hesitates is the pop shot, where she all but covers her eyes and tries to completely shut her face, which makes her resemble Mr. Magoo. Diamond puts in some decent effort here, but it’s definitely too little too late.

Surprisingly, there’s kind of credits at the end of the feature. The last ten to eleven minutes are done as almost a highlight and blooper reel with each girls name flashed up before the scene starts. There’s a bit of a scene with Gabrielle Gold in it that never really seemed to make it into the feature. I think her scene, which also includes an unnamed girl, was blessed to be cut from this dud. I’m not sure if the entire thing was cut footage or not, but the entire thing feels like it’s just an excuse to extend the feature length as it only appears to be a blooper reel for a couple seconds.

Unfortunately, Fetish Junkies is the worst feature I’ve ever seen from Digital Sin. The sex is occasionally okay, and the girls range from average to pretty dang good looking. Sadly, the editing comes close to ruining almost every scene. There’s nothing even close to a transition between positions and the camera work feels like it’s done by a complete novice. If these aren’t bad enough, the frequently horrible job of synching the audio and video together brings it down even more. Recently another reviewer and I were discussing overall ratings and critiquing DVDs, more specifically the assumption that almost everybody who makes a DVD does care about their work. Although this seems a little optimistic, which is rarely a bad thing, even Ed Powers can make the claim that the sales of his features justify an “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach. Although I’ve always thought there’s plenty broke about Ed’s features, Marc Hendrix makes him look like Spielberg. At least Ed can use what he has at his disposal to make something that appears to resemble a feature and can be halfway viewable, especially when Ed doesn’t get in front of the camera. Fetish Junkies runs a little too long. Fetish Junk is more like it.

Extras: The only new extra here is a photo gallery, which contains about two dozen nice looking full screen photos. The rest is all stuff you’ve seen before if you’ve seen anything from Digital Sin in the last year or so. The B-side is filled with a large selection of trailers, none of which are for any releases even remotely close to recent, as well as a few short featurettes on many of the stars that have been in Digital Sin’s features. About a year or so ago when the B-side format first came out it was a nice change and seemed like a great extra. Now it’s something that’s dreary and boring and is actually a negative about Digital Sin’s DVDs because to me it doesn’t appear that they care about their DVDs enough to give the viewer anything new. If this would be your first Digital Sin DVD, you can probably add a two and a half points to the extras rating.

Overall: Currently, Fetish Junkies can be found online for between $17 and $25, with most stores offering it for about $20. Rent this one first if you think it might be for you. There’s some decent sex here and there, but the editing completely ruined whatever there was decent here. The picture’s grainy and there’s nothing worthwhile for extras that you haven’t seen on another Digital Sin DVD.

Note to Digital Sin: Due to your normal high quality I was thrilled that you brought out a fetish tape. I’d recommend slapping somebody severely for putting this DVD out, but unfortunately the people involved with this kind of feature would probably enjoy that sort of thing. Instead I’m recommending you strap them to a chair and make them watch Barney to make up for this.
