PREFACE:
My relatively new understanding of the wonders of European porn has led me in several directions. I was always aware of the most prominent European directors (i.e. Pierre Woodman, Rocco Siffredi, etc.) but I never really gave them much of a fighting chance because of my love for American performers. The primary reason for my reluctance to join the Euro-babe loving ranks was merely the fact that because of my culture and background I can relate to American women. Besides my obvious understanding of their spoken language, I understand the nuances of their voices and the language of their bodies better because I'm an American too; and this, in addition to physical beauty and good performance, is as much a factor in my arousal as anything else. However, over the last year or so, I've realized that my tunnel vision in this regard has been a mistake.

INTRODUCTION:
Euro Angels #5 will be my second Christoph Clark movie. Christoph Clark has two things going for him, one is that he works for the Evil Empire (which means that he's probably pretty adept at shooting both tease and good sex), and the other is that he is European himself. My relatively little experience with porn of the overseas variety is that European porn tends to be (but is not always) better produced by European directors. I imagine this has to do with the nuances of communication that can take place between director and directee both verbally and non-verbally. This is clearly not always the case, as John Stagliano has shown more than once, but my experience with some of the early Sodomania titles from Elegant Angel were probably most responsible for my souring to European talent in the first place. However, I am rather confident that Christoph Clark won't have this problem. Judging from other work I've seen from Clark, though, I am somewhat less confident in his sex toy sensibilities. My experience with his Euro-Hardball 16 was a mixed bag and I found myself disappointed in the over-use of toys. Just when we'd start to see some nice anal fucking, he'd replace his dick with a dildo. I just couldn't understand for the life of me how the heat of the moment could possibly dictate that course of action. Toys for tease and build up is one thing, but once you're fucking a girl who looks like that, why on EARTH would you want to let a piece of plastic have all the fun? Judging from the photos on the back of the Euro Angels #5 box cover, it looks like I might be in for more of the same. There look to be some hot women here, though, so I'll have to comfort myself with the hope that there will be a high looks to low dildo ratio.

SCENE 1:
ORSI & CHRISTOPH CLARK
The Girl
Orsi is a very pretty blonde who doesn't speak a lot of English. She has rather large, but beautiful natural breasts, a great pair of legs and a nice ass. The Action

The Gist
I liked this scene decently well, but it had a lot more potential than it had actual heat. Although Orsi is beautiful, she suffers a tad from the patented "Euro-lethargy". She didn't seem very into the scene. The scene's saving grace was the really nice tease footage in the beginning, and a decent POV facial at the end. In between though I was pretty frustrated with the boring and static camera angles. Christoph was the camera operator, and very little of the action was point of view, which leaves the proverbial tri-pod to do the work. While the tri-pod can hold the camera still, it can't pan over to the beautiful face of this woman, or give us a reactive and unedited exploration of the action between these two performers. This Powers-ian (Ed that is) method of capturing the action was disappointing, and it was not worthy of Orsi's beauty, or of Christoph's talent.

The Girls

Since I didn't see much of anything special between these two, I was for the most part bored with this scene. However, just because I wasn't attracted to them doesn't mean they weren't attractive. They had their points, but they just weren't my type. I found the most interesting part of the scene to be near the end, when each girl independently dildoed her asshole as they were side by side in the doggy position on the bed. There was something erotic about this idea, but unfortunately, its execution seemed technical and boring, with little interaction or heat between the two women. They even had the opportunity to kiss during this time, but they didn't follow through. For me this scene was boring, and a bit frustrating because of a glimmering spark of real heat that never successfully fanned into flame.

The Girl
Judith is the main cover girl on this particular feature and for pretty good reason. She's a very attractive blonde with a great body.

The point of view action was nice, but it was not the best captured point of view sex I've ever seen. The scene's action, however seemed to be dictated as much by the limitations of how they recorded it as it was by Christoph's preferences, which clearly tend toward quick fire, semi-automatic-rifle-sex (i.e. BAM, BAM, BAM, COCK, FINGER, TOY, TONGUE, FINGER, COCK, TOY, COCK, FINGER, TONGUE, BAM, BAM, BAM, etc). His style doesn't allow me to immerse myself in the scene as much as it makes me realize that we are shooting a porn video where an attempt is made at generating sexual excitement through quick fire variety. On the bright side though, the tease footage here was fantastic, easily making the scene worth watching, and Marilyn's body stocking which remains on for the entire scene is a great plus. If not for Christoph's propensity for outstanding tease, however, this scene would probably have been 1% Perspiration, 90% Frustration, and 9% Masturbation.

The Gist
This is the best scene so far, and I really liked it. Besides Reka being a flat out hottie, there was also a welcome absence of toys in this scene. This left man and woman to their own devices and the result was the nicest flowing of the scenes so far. It was all anal, all the time as Christoph's dick never penetrated Reka's pussy. I enjoy traditional fucking, but this scene flowed nicely and I didn't mind its absence here. The camera work was still one dimensional, but given it's limitations I was fairly satisfied with what I saw of Reka. The tease footage was amazing, and I loved the facial, which was captured with an extreme close-up on Reka's beautiful mouth. One other thing I liked about this scene was some of the editing during the interview. Christoph's discussion with Reka occasionally gave way to almost subliminal snippets of the sex scene that followed it (reminiscent of some of Gregory Dark's work), and I personally love that kind of thing. If done well it can tease just as well as a half naked girl can. In all, I found this to be a very sexy scene with two performers who had a rapport together.

The Gist

This was a very nice scene. Before I get into what I wished happened here, I should cover what did happen. It was very nice to see some better camera work from Christoph, who this time, was not involved in the scene. It allowed him to pan from ass fucking to Brunetta's face, and from close-ups to long shots freely, without having to plan ahead, stop the action, and move the camera. The scene flowed much better than the previous scenes because of this and I was glad to see it. Despite Brunetta's lack of distinctiveness, she was looking damn fuckable here, and I loved her black nylons. I liked the set up pretty well, but two thoughts occurred to me as I was watching it. First I wished that the husband wasn't so eager to join in the action, but rather that he was forced to watch, knowing this was the only way out of a jam. Second, when he finally did participate, I wish he'd have blown his load early, and then had to sit and watch the banker as he continued to royally pound his beautiful "wife" until he was satisfied with his payment. Granted it would have lent a darker theme to the scene, but that aspect of the husband's humiliation, and the banker's insatiable appetite would have fascinated me, and would have turned me on. As it was, though, I thought this was the best scene of the movie so far, although I still have a soft spot for Reka's scene with Christoph earlier in the disc.

The Girl

The Gist
First off, the lighting in the scene was horrible. It looked like Christoph had little more than the bedroom fixtures to do the job, and speaking as a professional, that didn't do the job. Looking beyond that technical flaw, however, this was an average masturbation seen by my tastes. Caroline did show some great energy and despite some frightening facial expressions. The highlight for me was the end of the scene, however, when a cum-covered Caroline continued pumping herself with a dildo for the camera.

PRODUCTION QUALITY:
I think I've said my peace about the camera work in this video. Based on my admittedly limited experience, I think Christoph is a much better director than he is a performer, but regardless of whether he performs or not, I do not like his one man band style of shooting. Unless he was willing to commit fully to the point of view style, I think an independent camera person is a must. As this production is relatively old (originally produced in 1998), many things might have changed about Christoph's style, so I may be speaking out of turn. In any case, I enjoyed the quick editing tricks that he often employed that interspersed scene snippets with interview and tease footage. That kind of thing turns me on and reminds me of Gregory Dark's work. The lighting for the most part was moderately functional, but there was a lot of room for improvement and the last scene especially was not up to par. However, the disc displayed some decent production elements, but I would expect that improvements have been made to Christoph's methods since this video was produced.

DVD QUALITY:
The video quality was substandard in terms of what Evil Angel is now capable of producing on their latest simultaneous releases. At times there was some severe graininess, and although that might have been artistic choice, it looked to me like technical mistake and a possible failing of the equipment used. The video was watch able, but not crystal clear by any means. The audio was similarly functional but nothing spectacular. I had to strain to hear and understand performers at times, and even though few of them spoke great English, I still wanted the opportunity to try to understand them.

EXTRAS:
As this is part of Evil Angel's back catalogue, there was no extra footage on this disc. However, it did come with the normal compliment of Evil Angel features. These included extremely well chaptered scene stops, as well as the fetish menu. This time the fetish menu options included Tease, Breasts, Dildos, Pussy Licking, Blowjobs, Anal [Fingers/Toys], Anal Sex, and Double Penetration. The fetish menu is a great feature, especially when it comes to re-watchable porn. Other special features include the requisite photo gallery, the extremely helpful "Cast List By Scene", filmographies of some of the girls, and a biography of Christoph Clark. It's a solid package of standard features, but nothing that stands out as really special.

OVERALL:
Let me just say right up front that Christoph Clark knows how to make women look good. His gift for showing off the women before the sex begins is not in question, and anyone who loves good tease footage of pretty girls in some damn sexy outfits would do well to give this movie a shot. European or American, a beautiful woman is a beautiful woman. Unfortunately, this disc has several shortcomings as well. I don't share Christoph's love of toy play, especially after the scene has gotten hot and heavy. This rapid fire sexual style he has tends to interrupt the flow of the scene for me. The two scenes that stood out the most on this disc were those that didn't involve toy play at all. Reka is fucking gorgeous and has a very enjoyable encounter with Christoph. Brunetta is not so bad herself and gets nicely fucked by two guys while Christoph keeps his hands to himself and covers the camera work. I really enjoyed both these scenes equally, but for different reasons. The other scenes on the disc, while decent, fell short for me, though; but from what I hear, many people like Christoph's style, so just because I wasn't in love with it doesn't mean that you won't be. The stuff I did like, though, I liked a lot and the tease footage in all the scenes really was worth the price of admission all by itself. The production values were not up to Evil Angel's current caliber, but this movie is from their back catalogue so that is somewhat understandable. In any case, if you like tease and anal play, or think you might like Christoph Clark's style, I would suggest giving this one its fair shake with a rental.
