The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are pretty well done. The audio is very clear and very nicely balanced. The video is also pretty good, but starts out a step down for me by going with a widescreen format and then giving it a non-anamorphic transfer rather than the anamorphic transfer the format deserves. There's a touch of grain that shows up now and then as well as a few low lighting areas. The shadows do interfere just a little, but at the same time they appear in locations where it seems like high quality lighting would either be a drawback from the style of the scene or would be nearly impossible.

Menus: The main menu has some decent animation to lead into a still with a clip of the movie. The chapter menu also shows some nice care, and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of the scene and the name of the girl(s) in each scene.

The Feature

Canadian Beaver is a few minor things short of being an exceptional fuck flick. Yes, it's great to have three and a half hour movies, but I think the movie would have been a little tighter and hotter if it were cut back to about three hours. Next is some of the camera work. Jimmie Scaffnetti has a tendency to move quite fast, and there's a fair amount of fast pans and camera shake. No, he doesn't always have the easiest of circumstances to shoot in, but it was rare for me to not be reminded that the movie was being shot by hand due to his style. At the same time, there's a part of me that likes the style. I'm used to Everhard's movies being a little cleaner when it comes to the camera work, but here it has a bit of a reality style whose roughness helps to set it apart from a lot of other movies being released at the Evil Empire. Finally, the action was a bit similar throughout the movie. I would have really liked to have seen a little more variety with maybe Erik and Steve breaking apart to take on a girl or two by themselves for a scene or two. All that said, it can't hold the movie back too much just due to the chemistry and cast. Zeina is one heck of a hottie, and I'm amazed that she hasn't shown up in a ton more movies with her natural beauty, fantastic body, and great appreciation for sex. Canadian Beaver is a darn hot fuck flick that mixes things up nicely with a string of girls you probably haven't seen much of before.

The technical aspects are pretty good, but the lighting varies a bit due to some of the locations and holds itself back with a non-anamorphic transfer for the widescreen presentation. The extras show a lot of effort, and are well worth checking out. This is a hot movie that shows some very nice effort.

Note to Erik Everhard / Evil Angel: It's great to see you going with the widescreen format, but if you're going to do so please give it the anamorphic transfer it deserves. If you don't think it matters, ask yourself when the last mainstream DVD you saw was that came out with a non-anamorphic format that people didn't mind.
