Initial Expectations: I know nothing about Nikki Nine, but Jerome Tanner has put out some hot and fun movies and there's some nice talent around the rest of the cast. I'm going into this one with a bit of hope.

Initial Reaction: It's extremely forgettable.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are okay. The audio is clear and well balanced, and I didn't notice any background noises. The video is presented in non-anamorphic widescreen, and looks okay. The camera work is smooth, but there's a touch of grain and much of the movie is a bit on the dark side.

Music: None worth mentioning

Disc Complaints: There's phone sex commercials before the main menu that you can't skip past or even scan forward through. This royally pisses me off, and I'm deducting a half point from the overall score because of it.

Menus: The main menu works through a little animation before settling in on the boxcover still. The chapter menu is okay, and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and the location of the scene. There's also a “Select a Star” option that lets you choose a scene based on a still of each girl and their name. After you choose a girl, you're given a second menu to let you choose where you want to go sexually.

The Feature

After Manuel meets Nikki in a hotel room with a quarter million in cash, she lets him question him on her having sex with Benjamin Cross, the biggest movie star in the world. She tells him about how she was taken by Nyomi Banxxx from being a fifty dollar whore to bedding some of the most important people in the world.

Scene 1 – Nikki Nine and James Deen

Nikki flashes back to when she was hooking in a dirty room where James shows up with wad of money and a flask he's drinking from. She gives him a little flash while insisting that he has to pay her before getting any more, and soon after has James between her legs munching away. This is a pretty hot scene. Nikki looks great, and for this being her first scene does a very nice job. She's vocal and energetic, and unlike so many other girls in their first few scenes, she doesn't seem clueless and like she needs to look at the camera for direction constantly. The action moves along nicely, and there's good chemistry through it. Sadly the scene is often a little dark and the camera work left a bit to be desired. This is a decent start to the movie as well as one of the best scenes in the movie.

Scene 2 – Amber Rayne, Alec Knight, and John Strong

At her first assignment, Nikki is told she is only to watch, and maybe to touch herself a little, as cute brunette Amber shows her how to take on two guys with the help of Alec and John. Alec moves right in and drops down to start working on Amber orally before John comes around the bar to let her suck his cock. She keeps sucking John as Alec fucks her from behind, and then turns around so John can fuck her from behind before picking her up to fuck her in midair. This is a nicely done group scene.

Scene 3 – Eva Angelina and Nyomi Banxxx

The editing is a bit rough causing the scene to jump from action to action rather than having any kind of flow to the scene, and it ends a bit abruptly. The action might be good between the girls, but the flow of the scene holds it back.

Scene 4 – Nikki Nine and Evan Stone

Nikki shows up to take on rich client Evan at his mansion for the penultimate scene. He has her show off and strip down for him and sets up a videocamera to capture the action for his collection. They kiss passionately and Evan has Nikki suck his fingers before reaching down to play with her tits and pussy. He moves down to tongue and finger her twat before having her suck his cock and balls. This is an okay scene. Nikki and Evan have pretty good chemistry, and once again Nikki puts out a bit of energy with some very nice vocals. The problem for me was that the scene seemed overly dark and didn't need to be. I guess this was supposed to add a bit of romance to the scene, but instead it just cheapened the scene.

Scene 5 – Tiffany Price and Manuel Ferrara

Nikki hooks Manuel up with bottle blonde Tiffany for the final scene. They kiss as Manuel plays with her tits and pussy around her skimpy black dress and then moves down to tongue her holes. This is an okay at best scene. I'll readily admit that Tiffany didn't do much right from the start, as being a tattooed bottle blonde with implants she seems extremely generic and downright disposable. She doesn't do a bad job, but there's also nothing special about her performance to make her at all memorable. This is a very generic scene.

Educating Nikki is a pretty average release. Jerome Tanner has done some decent sized features before, so seeing him do something such a light and generic porn feature left me disappointed right away. The plot is thin and generic even by porn standards, and there's no spark to the sex to take it too far past the average mark. It's also frequently held back by low lighting and camera work that doesn't seem that taken by the sex. That said, the main draw here is Nikki Nine, Hustler's eighteen year old contract girl in her first scenes. Those who are checking Educating Nikki out for that reason will probably have mixed results. Nikki does a nice job in both her scenes, and puts out some nice energy as well as plenty of vocals. She also shows a bit of acting ability, and for a first performance is damn impressive. On the downside, as I said before, the camera work seems far from excited about her and her scenes are easily the darkest in the movie. Educating Nikki has a decent idea, but there's rarely anything to take it past the average mark.

The Extra Stuff

Trailers are included for Booty Tales, Gaped Crusaders, Hustle & Blow 2, Kill Jill, 18 & Easy 5, Brunettes Eat More Cum, Gushing MILFs, and Cocktail Party. The photo gallery lasts about eight and three quarter minutes with about seven seconds per very nice looking snapshot or full screen photo. There's also a behind the scenes featurette (yes, unlike so many of Hustler's other releases in the last year or two, this release not only claims to have a behind the scenes featurette but also includes one on the DVD!) and commercial crap.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts nine and a half minutes and, unlike the movie, is presented in anamorphic widescreen. Nikki starts out talking with Jake Tanner about only doing one scene so far, why she got into the industry, and her favorite scene so far. Evan Stone adds a few comments as well with his usual fun before Nikki talks about her favorite toys. There's also a bit of fun around the set as well as more fun with Evan Stone talking about porno survival before Jake chats with Nyomi, Amber, and Eva about their roles in the movie. He also chats with Tiffany about how she got her start in the business before Manuel and Nikki “rehearse” a bit for their scene (hey, didn't they just have dialogue scenes???). This is a nice little behind the scenes featurette. It gives some nice personality to a few of the stars, and also mixes in some fun humor thanks to Evan Stone and a bit of the movie being shot. This is far from a deep behind the scenes featurette, but it is light and fun.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Hustler’s DVDs can be found online for between about $16 and $25 with stores offering it everywhere in between. Aim low here. This isn't a bad release, but it does seem very generic. The movie is average with no spark to take it further, and the technical aspects are much the same with a fair amount of poorly lit scenes. There's a little effort put into the extras, but they also seem weighed down by commercials (some of which you're forced to watch before the movie). This is a very average release.

Note to Hustler: Your commercials are obnoxious enough as it is without forcing people to watch them.
