The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are okay. The audio is fairly well balanced, but there are a few background noises. There’s also some very obvious dubbing. The video is nicely lit, especially for being shot outdoor for part of the movie, and has very few shadows. There is a little grain, but not much, in the main screen but the picture in picture multiple angle windows are so pixelated you can barely make out the people. Finally, the camera and crew occasionally pop into view.

Music: The music is nicely balanced with the rest of the action, and has a fairly soft yet familiar feel.

Menus: The main menu is okay. It has a nice little introduction from Dyanna Lauren, but that’s about it.

The Feature

Interactive Sex Splash collects six different sequences. Three of the sequences feature Violet Love, an auburn haired gal with braces on her lower teeth. The other three feature Shay Sights, a brunette with a good sized rack. Each sequence is broken down into several short segments, and you choose where you want to go through a chapter menu-like interface.

Violet Love - Passion Fruit

Violet’s first option is Passion Fruit. As you select from the five different segments, she dances, masturbates, and enjoys some fruit. She works herself over with strawberries, bananas, whipped cream, Fig Newtons, and even a little whipped cream, and adds plenty of dirty talk as she plays.

This area didn’t do a lot for me. I’m not a big fan of food play, and Violet’s look didn’t do a whole lot for me either (mostly because of the braces on her lower teeth). She tries to play to the camera, but it often came off as being slightly off. These segments left me fairly bored.

Violet Love - Bubble Bath

Violet lets you have six options this time. She plays with both her holes and her tits naturally, with the camera moving around a little from segment to segment. Once again, Violet mixes in a fair amount of dirty talk, but the scene never feels complete.

This is another segment that didn’t do a lot for me. Violet seems to force the vocals and the camera work rarely gave me an angle I was really happy with. Finally, the segments are so short that they seemed to be done before I got all the way into them each time.

Violet Love and Mark Davis - Bedroom Fun

Here you finally get to have a little more control of the action as Violet takes on “you”, played by Mark Davis. You can grope her tits, play with or finger her pussy, have her suck your cock, or fuck her in cowgirl, missionary, or doggie. Finally, there’s a pop on Violet’s tits after the doggie action.

This is another poorly done area. Violet overdoes many of her reactions to the point that what started out as a groan turned into more of a painful sneer. Once again the biggest problem was how the scenes were set up, and once again they were often over before I could even get into them much. I don’t want to say that this segment sucked, but I think it dumbed me down to the point that I can’t think of any other way to put it.

Shay Sights - Foot Worship

Shay starts things out with a little tease. You can have her greet you with a glass of champagne, massage her feet, play with her tits, or play with her pussy. As you play, Shay reads off lines that appear to be on a cue card next to the camera.

This segment is borderline horrible. As a foot worship area, Shay’s feet are almost completely ignored, and there isn’t even much of a foot tease to make up for it. It’s more concerned with showing “you” playing with Shay’s body, and even there it falls short. This segment did nothing for me.

Shay Sights and Steven St. Croix - Dominatrix

Shay starts out this segment in a latex outfit talking down to you. She continues to give a few commands as she jiggles her tits, lets you play with her pussy, and as she sucks cock. There’s even a bit of missionary and doggie before Shay teases you in her latex outfit.

Not surprisingly, this area didn’t come close to digging Interactive Sex Splash out of the hole it dug itself into. When Shay came out with the line of “Help Me”, it was all I could do to not shout back “What? Get acting lessons?”. There’s barely any passion in this area, and although Shay does a good job with the cocksucking, any time she tries to talk I wanted to reach for the remote. This area also struck out for me because the segments didn’t seem to flow. There’s no pop here, and going from the two sex positions to the dominating strip tease, which also didn’t fit well, just made it lack all the more.

Shay Sights and Steven St. Croix - Pool Party

Shay gets in the pool for this area of the DVD. You can have her greet you, play a little in the pool, and suck and titty fuck you to start things out. She’ll also fuck cowgirl, missionary, or anal doggie style before sucking the cock to a facial.

The only saving grace to this area is the anal and facial. Shay takes both of them very good, but it just isn’t enough. The anal only lasts about a minute and it takes Shay at least a minute to stroke the cock to get it to pop. She gets into the sex pretty good, which made me want to get into this area, but I just couldn’t due to the extremely short segment lengths. This is probably the best area on the DVD, but that isn’t saying much.

I know that Interactive Sex Splash was a fairly early interactive title, and because of that part of me wants to go easy on it. Unfortunately, it’s so basic and has so many faults that I just can’t. This DVD bored me to tears. The segments were very short, normally lasting around two minutes. Yes, there were some that got up to over eight and a half minutes, but most of the time they were between a minute and a half and two and a half minutes without any kind of looping to make them feel longer. The girls try to do a good job, but they’re normally so over the top in playing to the camera that I couldn’t help but wince repeatedly while watching the movie. The camera work isn’t much better, and often seemed like it was making a deliberate attempt to cut off Shay and Violet’s head. Finally, the interactive mechanism leaves almost everything to be desired. It’s just a chapter menu that the scene returns to every time there’s an editing cut, which completely ruins any heat that was starting to build, and then the scenes aren’t always complete. Interactive Sex Splash might be best used to prevent the splashes from the glass holding your adult beverage from staining the table it rests on.

The Extra Stuff

Multiple angles are included for some areas of the DVD, but they’re quite obviously not true multiple angles for many areas. The only nice thing about them is that you’re often shows the other angles in a picture-in-picture type format. The Dark Rooms is your typical photo gallery. It lasts about five minutes with roughly six seconds per okay looking snapshot or full screen photo. There’s also montages, bloopers, and a few words from Dyanna asking for help for her next release. If that isn’t enough, there’s also website information and the usual B-side of extras found on almost all of Vivid’s early DVDs.

There are also two montages. The first features Dyanna Lauren, and lasts about seven and a half minutes showing clips from her Vivid movies. The second lasts about thirty seconds and features a headless Dyanna dancing a little. As you change angles her clothes disappear. Neither montage did much for me.

The blooper reel lasts nearly nine minutes. There’s plenty of flubbed lines, crack-ups, and a bit of fun on the set. There’s even a few sexual bloopers. It’s a nice blooper reel and makes for a nice behind the scenes featurette as well. This is a very nice extra, and quite possibly the best part of the DVD.

The Bottom Line:

It doesn’t really matter how much this one costs. I rented it for $2 and felt like I wasted my money. It’s lacks so badly that if I bought it I’d be tempted to lend it to a friend who I knew wouldn’t return it just to get rid of it. There’s some extras and okay technical aspects, but the DVD as a whole left me completely cold.

Note to Vivid: It’s nice that you tried something different from everybody else when the interactive DVD craze started, but this definitely isn’t the way to do it!
