Drive’s five chapters are pornographic prose done with mastery by all involved. I was elated to even know of its presence. Angela White’s involvement as the main character was enough to show it was a full-fledged adult production with high aims. The DVD packaging comes in a slipcase with a shiny foil logo of the film’s title on the box and nothing more. Opening the packaging further shows the seriousness of what can be mistaken for a mainstream DVD on a shelf unless dissected after purchasing. Even if you don’t have the DVD the Deeper website has all of the individual chapters available as separate episodes.
I have to commend more “porn with a story” existing out here in the endless ocean of adult entertainment. If you really do love porn then you will appreciate studios like Deeper.com that add more to the usual gonzo diet. When you delve in with Deeper you get rewarded for the investment. A company that cares is usually catering to fans that actually care so the benefit is mutual. The reward is a film that will make you think about it for days to come after watching.
Films like Drive show that you can have that R-rated mainstream appeal and even a former mainstream actress while containing some of the most hardcore sex out there. It has a solid foundation in pristine packaging that reinforces the message. It is indeed a game with all of these studios vying to reach the same audience with the same old products. But when I see an adult feature film with Kayden Kross behind the camera I know it is usually meant to be something more.
The film starts in stride with Angela White’s character rolling through another routine day of a busy woman. A mission to get bread for her and her husband (played by Manuel Ferrara) almost feels sort of like an espionage film at first. But what transpires is so much more and becomes somewhat of an unexpected journey for Angela and the viewers. Maitland Ward’s character oozes into existence after Angela White steps into the dark chambers of the red-headed fortune teller. Every last detail from here on out must be paid attention to as a viewer of this film. Even the lighter that is picked up by Angela White has some significance with a quote by Shakespeare that is etched on it. This is a major clue to start piecing your own interpretations for a film that won’t hold your hand. In fact, the film starts with a mysterious quote from writer Maggie Nelson. A Marquis de Sade quote will find its way into one of the chapters in this film as well.
After stepping into the grasp of Maitland’s allure the Lynchian lustscape sets into full swing. Maitland’s reading is telling of this inaugural meeting into the unknown. It is an odd encounter to Angela but she sits through it anyway as she locks eyes with the ice-eyed flame before her. The first encounter intensifies between the two as Angela suddenly orgasms at the beckoning of Maitland’s mind-reading. Who is really in control here?
After Angela darts out of Maitland’s chambers due to a distressing sound outside we see something that is symbolic of how time and moments connect us. Another segment in Drive that will surely meet up with you as a viewer later in a surprising twist that I refuse to spoil in this review. What is certain is the salacious sex scene that sizzles into view with Ivy Lebelle, Maitland Ward and Manuel Ferrara. It is meant to show what this film entails for a complete build of some of the hottest sex scenes I’ve ever witnessed. More than the tags that the scenes provide these sexual chapters are connectors between Angela’s psyche and how far the viewer is willing to be driven by Kayden Kross. Maitland’s top tier acting is coupled with her sexual dances in hardcore porn. Ivey Lebelle arches into this scene hard as she supplements her sexual aura in this smoky threesome scene.
Angela White can’t stop chasing the white rabbit. Maitland’s constant interference in what is proposed to be a normal life for Angela’s character leads to more mysteries and insane sex scenes. Lack of sleep for Angela will have her seeking out a therapist which only becomes another key into these dark pathways of unstoppable lust. The sleepless nights blur into these dream states but once Angela is able to actually speak to someone about them they get even darker. Her therapist then asks her about sex during the dissecting discussions. This is where another threesome of a different tone happens with Manuel and Gabbie Carter playing out a dominant vision of Angela’s making.
The stage set is in a workplace environment where Angela catches this dream version of her husband flirting with Gabbie Carter. Angela then erupts into a domineering fury as she demands the infidelity she perceives to be turned into her own view of “intimacy”. From there you’ll see Angela White play the badass bitch barking orders on how to properly fuck her husband to a submissive Gabbie Carter. The scene tumbles into a glorious session between these three performers but in this film’s own reality it is only the beginning of Angela’s awakening.
Maitland isn’t finished with Angela and like a Christmas spirit visiting Ebenezer Scrooge in differing versions of reality, there is more to show her. During this next chaperoning Brooklyn Gray becomes the specimen as she is torn into like a sex doll by the hungered Small Hands and Owen Gray. She is lead out into an alleyway to be ravaged in a boy/boy/girl threesome with some DP dodging. Rest assured there is some intense fucking that has spitting and choking to further drive the imagery home of hardcore sleaze next to a dumpster. Is this another dream or is Maitland really there showing Angela this?
As each chapter progresses so does the sex. The final two chapters in this film are complete explosions of lust and debauchery. There was no telling where this film would go once it started and the final two visions of Drive are its best. The awesome adultery that ensues in this film is a complete surprise in every turn. I couldn’t be more shocked by the end result as a plot twist. And as the scenes got hotter and hotter they got bigger with even more performers popping up before the ultimate climax. The final sex scene reminded me of those epic adult features that were capped off with the standard fare orgy scene to send it home. But what Drive does is ten times more extravagant and is worth more than a mention, it needs to be experienced.
