Initial Expectations: I’ve heard that I should really be checking out what Outback’s doing, so I’m going into this one curious and with some hope.

Initial Reaction: The movie’s okay, but the DVD shows some good hope for Outback.

Who Should Watch It : Somebody looking for standard couples fare.

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting anything unique or with anything a bit nastier.

Audio /Video Quality: The audio varies throughout the feature. Some of it is very clear, while other areas are rough and scratchy, almost as if the microphones were adjusted so that they maxed out repeatedly through the scene. It also varies quite a bit in balance, going from a nice level to dropping so low I couldn’t hear anything and then going back up a little later. At times it would even go louder with music only. This was more than a little annoying, and definitely interfered with the movie for me! The video is similar. It’s nicely lit, but has enough pixelation to be easily noticeable and hold the feature back.

Music: The music varies in style, but rarely feels like typical porn music. It varies in balance between being the only audio and being a little on the loud side, and at times is very repetitive.

Menus: The menus are pretty average. The main menu is unanimated while the chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a scene number.

The Feature: It’s never easy to get into the entertainment business, especially when you want to direct. Venus learns that the hard way, and after screwing a studio exec gets her chance to direct a music video. Things quickly shift from good to bad when she shows up at the set and finds that it’s been double booked with a porno shoot.

As her job interview comes to a close, Kyle Stone lets hot brunette Venus know she might have to do a little more to secure the job. She excuses herself to the ladies room where she lightly touches herself and practices her moaning and pillow talk before heading back out in some purple and white lingerie and white fuck-me pumps rather than her pinstriped black business suit. She puts on a show for Kyle before coming over to free him from the confinement of his clothes. Venus works her way down from Kyle’s nipples to his cock, giving him great eyes almost the entire time and nicely working him into her throat. Kyle works his way around her purple panties to let his tongue thank her rather than just giving Venus mere lip service. Venus rides Kyle reverse cowgirl style and lets him spoon her before taking an impressive oral pop and possibly even swallowing some down.

This is a pretty good scene. Kyle and Venus has nice chemistry, and Venus puts some very nice energy into the scene. I’ve been fairly impressed with the little I’ve seen of Venus so far, and this scene does nothing to change the impression I have of her.

Felecia and Cynara Fox are next. Cynara starts out ready to play wearing a strap-on, while Felecia looks about as innocent as she can get in her sun dress. Felecia drops down and sucks Cynara’s cock, as well as giving it a little titty fucking, before riding it in the mandatory reverse cowgirl. Felecia also lays back and lets Cynara take her missionary style before going down on Cynara with her tongue and fingers and finishing things with a bit of kissing.

This scene didn’t do much of anything for me. I liked the way they basically worked in reverse, going from toys to natural, but that’s the only thing unique about the entire scene. Most of it seemed average at best, and I was frequently bored with the scene.

Nikita Denise and Lee Stone get it on next. They start out sixty-nining before Lee moves around so he can fully concentrate on Nikita’s twat. Amazingly, Lee starts out nailing Nikita missionary style rather than reverse cowgirl, although they do work that in next. Finally, Lee gives Nikita a nice dose of dick droppings in her mouth.

This is an okay scene, but Lee and Nikita have nice chemistry and energy. The problem comes in with the style of the scene. The lighting is very different, and plenty of shadows are thrown around because of it. The camera angles also seem very unique, going with a lot of distance shots or slightly off-center close-ups. The lighting interferes the most here, as it throws so many shadows around that you can barely even make out the penetration at times.

Cynara Fox takes care of herself in the next scene. She starts out diddling herself naturally before breaking out a blue vibe. She works herself over with the vibe in a few positions before the scene fades out leaving it feeling mostly done.

This is another pretty average scene. Cynara looks like she’s enjoying herself fairly well, but the scene is fairly laid back and boring. I was easily distracted watching this scene.

Gen Padova and Felix Vicious get it on in the penultimate scene. Gen takes the lead, helping Felix out of her clothes and dropping down to sample her nearly shaven snatch. Gen also works on Felix with a jackrabbit vibe before letting Felix return the favor with a dildo while spanking her ass. Felix gives it to Gen fast and furious, complete with a little hair pulling, before they finish things up naturally with Gen riding Felix’ pierced tongue before the scene fades out.

This scene didn’t do much for me either. It took forever to get going, with most of it being so slow and tame that I started to doze off. Once it got going it was okay, but the entire think also had some odd camera angles that didn’t help anything.

Venus finishes things up with Steve Hatcher. They playfully fight and roll back and forth to establish who gets to go down on who first, with Steve winning, or would that be Venus winning because she gets to receive first. Steve gives Venus’ pussy and ass a good tonguing, as well as fingering her pussy before letting her suck his cock. Venus takes Steve’s cock nearly to the base as she throats it before climbing up to ride it cowgirl style, and bringing up the total positions in the movie to three. Venus finishes things up letting Steve spoon her before taking a nice pop in the mouth.

This is a pretty good scene, and one of the best in the feature. The sex isn’t overly engrossing, but it has a soft and playful feel that work very good for it. Steve and Venus come off feeling like a real couple, as well as feeling true to their characters. This is a good scene to finish things up with.

Double Booked is a fairly typical couples feature. As such, it has many of the usual strengths and weaknesses. On the strength side, there’s normally nice chemistry in the scenes, and you don’t have to worry about whether or not something in the movie is going to be too extreme to show to the chick you picked up at your weekly Bible study. On the negative side, things often feel overly tame and are slow enough that some people might feel the need to doze off. There are a few other problems, such as the camera work often seems a little amateurish and the story seems to forget what it’s about halfway through the movie. Double Booked had some nice chances to do something fun with the plot, but instead it felt like it ran out of steam when the matchbook ran out of room to write on. Heck, I’m not even sure how some of the scenes fit into the story! Double Booked is pretty standard couples fare, and has all of the problems associated with it while not offering anything unique in any way.

Extras: The photo gallery lasts about six and a half minutes, with nearly ten seconds per nice looking photo. There’s also a behind the scenes featurette which lasts roughly fifteen minutes. There’s a very nice interview with Gen Padova, where they talk about art, sex, and her pussy. Cynara Fox talks about being a chameleon, while Steve Hatcher talks about the best part of having sex on the set. Finally, Felix Vicious and Gen Padova talk about their toys and talk with the director about their scene and Felecia gives a very short interview. It’s a nice behind the scene featurette that gives a very nice taste of most of the cast. I would have really liked an interview with Venus, since she was the lead of the movie, but what’s here is very nice.

Overall: Currently, most of Outback Productions’ DVDs can be found online for between $15 and $25 with stores offering it everywhere in between. I’d rent this one before buying it. It’s not quite an average couples movie, and the technical aspects are lacking. On the plus side, there’s a nice behind the scenes featurette.

Note to Outback Productions: I think the most important thing you could do right now is improve your technical aspects. You have a very good start here, with a decent movie and a very nice behind the scenes feature. The movie was a bit tame, but there are people out there that want that, and even then the technical aspects did interfere with my enjoyment of the movie. Although some of us really enjoy the extras, everybody enjoys top notch technical aspects, and when they see you wanting to start out right they’ll be patient when you expand in other areas.
