Initial Expectations: Homegrown has been very hit or miss for me, but with it being all double anal I can't help but be a little curious about this one.

Initial Reaction: The sex is good but the technical aspects hold back the entire release.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects leave plenty to be desired. The audio level is very low forcing me to crank the volume and then varies a bit through the presentation so that I had to adjust it repeatedly. If that isn't annoying enough, there's a lot of chatter from behind the camera that not only annoyed me, but seemed to annoy the performers at times as well. The video is presented in the full frame format and leaves a bit to be desired. The lighting is inconsistent, there's a fair amount of grain, and there's quite a bit of motion as well. I can live with the grain when I consider the age of the movie, but the others seemed to be more a lack of care behind the camera than anything.

Music: None

Disc Complaints: You are forced to watch an opening for Xplor lasting nearly a minute that you can't skip by or scan through. This always pisses me off, and I'm deducting a half point from the overall score because of it.

Menus: The main menu gives you a few clips from the movie in blue along with some funky art covering part of it for an impression that leaves a bit to be desired. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip from each scene and a scene number, along with letting you choose where you want to go in the scene sexually.

The Feature

Double Anal Club 5 focuses on one of the most extreme sex acts out there, the double anal penetration. Each scene starts out with a girl or two chatting with the cameraman and showing off for him a little before getting it on with a couple guys. As the action progresses, each girl takes both guys in her ass at the same time.

Brunettes Catherine and Daniella strut through a park chatting and holding hands before the action cuts to them sitting on a couch and kissing each other lizard style. This is a hot but sloppy scene. The girls each do a great job, and seem into each other as well as the guys right from the start. The only problem here is behind the camera, as the camera work is pretty shaky and you get to hear plenty of comments from behind the camera both in English and in Czech. This is a hot scene, but would have been a lot better with a touch more skill behind the camera.

This is a pretty hot scene. Once again there's nice chemistry around the group and Gabi gets into the scene nicely. Once again the camera work held the scene back a bit, and this time the camera angles held the scene back as much as the shakier work. There was quite a bit of footage where it looked like the guys were DPing Gabi but you never got to see the actual penetration to really know if it was staged or not. This is a pretty hot scene thanks to the performers, but once again the camera work and editing held it back from behind as hot as it might have been.

She makes the double anal almost look easy, and if there's a complaint about the scene beyond constantly hearing the camera man, it's that there was quite a wait to get to the double anal. This is a hot scene, but as usual it would have been much hotter with a bit more skill behind the camera.

Double Anal Club 5 is a pretty hot fuck flick. There's no doubt as to whether the girls here are really taking two cocks in the ass or not in their scene, and most of the time there's very nice chemistry to go with the action in the scenes. That said, there were two problems I had with the release. The first is the thought that this could be an amateur movie, as it is released by Homegrown. With the exception of Gabi, who looks to have only appeared in this movie, the rest of the cast had been fairly active in adult movies before this. The other complaint I have about the movie is the camera work. Although the performers in front of the camera show plenty of skill and experience, the work behind the camera does not. There's plenty of motion to distract from the action, and that's nothing compared to the amount of the amount of instructions one hears from behind the camera. Maybe this is supposed to give the movie an “amateur feel”, but instead all it did was make the release feel extremely sloppy and careless. If you're a fan of double anal action I think you can do a lot worse than Double Anal Club 5, but don't go into it expecting much skill from behind the camera.

The Extra Stuff

The photo gallery includes about eighteen okay looking screen captures and automatically advances about every five seconds. About fifteen minutes of trailers are included, as a mix of boxcovers and quotes flashing by with a few clips of action as well. There's also weblinks and a blooper reel.

The blooper reel lasts a little under an hour. This is a generic blooper reel, but one that isn't too bad due to the footage it contains. There's a few chuckles as well as some surprisingly long sex clips that last nearly five minutes as opposed to the fifteen second clips one often finds in a porn blooper reel. You're sure to recognize some faces here, but this is a nice addition to the overall DVD.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many Homegrown DVDs can be found online for between about $13 and $25 with a few stores offering them near the low end. Aim low here. The sex is nicely done, but the entire movie is held back by the lack of skill behind the camera. The technical aspects leave a bit to be desired, but there is a touch of effort put into the extras with a generic but nicely done blooper reel. This is a pretty hot release that felt like it had a lot more potential.

Note to Homegrown: I hope you sometime learn that “sloppy” doesn't mean the same thing as “amateur”.
