The Review

Synopsis:
In the 1800's old west, a stage coach carrying several ladies, who turn out to be prostitutes, and an old man is hijacked by a group of bandits. The bandits, who are making their way to San Francisco, hold up with the ladies in a small western town.

Video/Audio:
The aspect ratio of Dirty Western 2 is 1.33:1 (full screen). There is no noticeable cropping even in the beginning and end credits, so this is probably the original aspect ratio of the film. The film from the general look of it, appears to have been originally shot on film. This presentation of the film has a slightly grainy clean picture with occasional artifacts. From the look of the picture, the film appears to be older than it really is however, the colors are not washed out and edges are well defined.

Dirty Western 2 has a 2.0 mono soundtrack, the music fills the room but spoken audio sounds very flat. The music through the film is a combination of western sounding music and occasional synthesized light rock, which is a nice change from the standard sounding adult film music. At points the spoken audio is slightly hard to hear since it is at a lower volume than the music. The only language track is in English and there are no available subtitles.

Special Features:
This disk has essentially no special features and the few that are present add nothing to the film. The full motion chapter index breaks the film into six chapters, making most chapters too large to be useful, the film would have been more accessible through this feature if there were twelve chapter stops instead of six. The photo gallery of the stars is a three and a quarter minute track showing cropped shots from the film. This film would have been slightly better if you could flip through the photos yourself instead of having them automatically change for you. The preview trailers of DVD releases are on the B side of the disk. My DVD player was able to tell me that the B side is a VCD not DVD but was unable to play the actual trailers, I don't know if this is a player issue or a problem with the disk coding itself.

Conclusion:
Dirty Western 2 is the sequel to the classic 1975 film A Dirty Western and is done by the same writer/director, Joseph F. Robertson. Dirty Western 2 is a well-done film in all aspects except for the plot. The plot that is present is very thin but manages to hold the film together. However, what it is lacking in the plot is made up for with lavish sets and great costuming, except for a very out of place nipple ring. The cinematography of the film is beautifully shot with a good combination of indoor and outdoor scenes. Except for the first male/female bedroom scene, all of the sets looked realistic. The costuming and props were from the period and even included a stagecoach.

The sex, except for one lesbian scene, is all one male to one female action. Different positions in each sex scene keep each one fresh and interesting. The cast is good looking and it appears that only one female in the cast has had a breast enlargement.

The plot and scenery pauses between each scene might be longer than some people prefer but add a good period feel to the film. The plot doesn't get too thick, but isn't so bad that it detracts from the film. Overall, a nice couple film especially for those who enjoy films from the western genre. I'd recommend picking this one up, especially since it isn't very expensive.
