Synopsis:
This is the eighty-third volume in one of Ed Powers popular long running gonzo style all sex adult film series, which features amateur females being introduced to the world of porn by him.

Audio/Video:
Dirty Debutantes 83 is presented with an English 2.0 Mono track, which is decent considering the production values of the film. The track is probably the best that can be done with the source material. All the dialog in the film is clear and easy to hear. New Machine hasn't included any foreign language tracks or subtitle options for the feature film.

Dirty Debutantes 83 is presented in the full screen aspect ratio of 1.33:1, which is the original aspect ratio for the film. The video is in decent shape aside from a very bad video glitch present at the beginning of the first scene. The color levels are correctly set. I've seen Dirty Debutantes volumes in better shape than this one and in much worse shape than this one.

Special Features:
There are several extras on the disc and although none of them deals with the feature film, most of them do have to do with Ed Powers. These seem to be the same extras as available on all of the Dirty Debutantes series discs. First up is the photo gallery containing twelve stills of now famous porn stars from other Ed Powers Debutante films. “Love From Ed” is a three minute video clip of Ed Powers rambling to the viewer. There is a text biography of Ed Powers career. Transmissions contains audio excerpts from Ed Powers radio show Bedtime Stories from KLSX 97.1 FM, LA. The final extra is trailers for Cockless 1, Real Naturals 3, Global Warming Debutantes 11, Dirty Debutantes 47, Dirty Debutantes 157, and Dirty Debutantes 185.

Disc Design/Navigation:
This disc is designed in the same manner that most of the earlier Dirty Debutantes discs were designed. The main menu allows you to pick which woman you are interested in or to play the film in it's entirety. If you pick on a woman, you get to pick from five to six different chapters for each scene, each identified by a video clip. There are 37 chapter stops within the film itself. There is a time code encoded on the disc for the feature film.

General Review:
I've never been a fan of Ed Powers films. His technical inadequacies aside, which I could possibly deal with, I have a hard time enjoying a scene that he is in. He's an older balding male, with long hair that's tied back, a pot belly and he wears his glasses throughout the scenes. At least this film gives the viewer three scenes with his early partner Jake Steed. Unfortunately, the scenes with Jake are shorter than the scenes with Ed. It would have been much better if it were the other way around.

The low production values are very visible here with continual focus problems and flash bulbs going off during the scenes. The scenes all take place in generic rooms that look like they are a cheap motel. The production equipment is very visible in the scenes along with the playback monitors. Ed also calls out directions while in the middle of being in a scene. He also puts little text messages on the screen to the viewer.

As far as the sex scenes go, Ed's bad looks aside, they aren't too bad. They are long scenes which will please a lot of viewers and there is a lot of variety to them. None of the scenes managed to resemble any of the other scenes in the film. The females in this volume are decent to very nice looking, which is average for an Ed Powers film. They all appear to be into the sex scenes that they are in. The sexual themes in the film are vaginal and anal sex with blow jobs, pussy eating, female masturbation, male masturbation, hand jobs, anal fingering and anilingus. For viewers that care about condom use, condoms are used in one of the sex scenes for both the blow job and the sex, but not in any of the others.

Scene Synopsis:
The first scene brings us Taylor Cherri with Ed Powers and starts out with some pussy eating before going into a blow job and female masturbation combination. The scene ends with some anal sex. The second scene brings us Taylor Cherri with Jake Steed and starts out with some male masturbation before going into a hand job. The scene then goes into a blow job before concluding with some vaginal sex.

The third scene brings us Tia and Ed Powers and starts out with some female masturbation before going into a pussy eating and anal fingering combination. The scene continues with some anilingus before going into a hand job. The hand job is followed by a blow job and some more anal fingering. The scene concludes with some anal sex. The fourth scene features Sheena and Ed Powers and starts out with some female masturbation before going into the pussy eating. The pussy eating is followed by a blow job and female masturbation combination. The scene then goes into some vaginal and anal sex.

The fifth scene features Sheena and Jake Steed and starts out with a blow job before concluding with some vaginal sex. The sixth scene gives us Victoria del Rio and Ed Powers and starts out with a female masturbation and blow job combination before going into a pussy eating and anilingus combination. The scene then goes into the vaginal sex, stops for a reprise of the blow job and goes back to the vaginal sex. The scene concludes with some anal sex. The seventh and final scene brings us Victoria del Rio and Jake Steed and starts out with a blow job and concludes with some vaginal sex.

Parting Thoughts:
As far as Ed Powers films go, this one falls about average. The usual technical inadequacies are present and the females are average to very good looking. If you are a huge fan of Ed's films you'll probably want to pick this one up. If you aren't you'll probably want to pass on this title or buy it on sale. If you dislike Ed's films, this one won't change your opinion of them.
