Synopsis:
This is the two hundred and twentieth volume in one of Ed Powers popular long running gonzo style all sex adult film series, which features amateur females being introduced to the world of porn by him.

Audio/Video:
Dirty Debutantes 220 is presented with its original English 2.0 Mono audio track. The audio track is decent but there are several places where you have trouble hearing what is said. A great example of this is Sheila's scene, where it is hard to hear a word that she says without the volume being turned up considerably. Other than this issue, there are no problems with the audio in the film. New Machine hasn't included any foreign language tracks or subtitle options for the film.

Dirty Debutantes 220 is presented in its original full screen aspect ratio of 1.33:1. The video presentation in this volume is good with a clear picture free of blemishes, artifacts and glitches. The picture is soft but adequate detail is provided. There are occasional problems with the color levels being too light. This is most evident in the scene with Molly. From one angle the flesh tones look accurate and from the other angle the flesh tones are too pale. This issue doesn't ruin the viewing experience though.

Special Features:
There are several extras on the disc and although none of them deals with the feature film, most of them do have to do with Ed Powers. These seem to be the same extras as available on all of the Dirty Debutantes series discs. First up is the photo gallery containing twelve stills of now famous porn stars from other Ed Powers Debutante films. Love From Ed is a three minute video clip of Ed Powers rambling to the viewer. There is a text biography of Ed Powers career. Transmissions contains audio excerpts from Ed Powers radio show Bedtime Stories from KLSX. About New Machine contains the contact info for New Machine Publishing. The final extra is previews for Cockless 1, Real Naturals 3, Global Warming Debutantes 11, Dirty Debutantes 47, Dirty Debutantes 157, and Dirty Debutantes 185.

Navigation:
There are two main ways of navigating on the disc. From the main menu, you can select from any of the main scene in the film. The scenes are identified by the female performers and a video clip. From the chapter menu, titled 'Action Menu' on the disc, you can select from 23 available chapter stops. Each one is identified by a video clip and the female talent in the scene. There is a time code encoded on the disc for the feature film.

General Review:
Ed Powers has never created what I considered to be a good adult film. He gets some great female cast members, but usually that's as far as it goes. His films are technically incompetent. Don't get me wrong, I don't think that you need to drop tons of money into making a film and I have nothing against the gonzo genre. It's just that he doesn't seem to try too hard. In the beginning, it could be chalked up to being an amateur himself, but unlike other film makers, instead of growing better as time goes on, Ed has gone backwards.

He has, for the most part, fixed his problems with focus problems in the film but his poor camera work has gotten even worse now. Some scenes no longer even have a camera man as evident from the editing being between two stationary cameras or one stationary camera and one held by Ed. Ed's long scenes become monotonous when viewed by only two angles and even when a camera man is present, there isn't much to the camera work, usually just a brief pan before switching to the other camera. What little life this series did have is now gone and someone needs to declare it DOA.

One of the few good features to this series in the past was there was variety to the sex scenes. Although in some volumes they started becoming formulaic, there were variances to them. Fast forward to this volume and the variances to the scenes are gone. The entire film is the same scene repeated ad nauseam, from the sex acts to the positions in the sex scenes. I could have done the scene descriptions for this film after watching only the first scene. Even fans of Ed Powers past films are sure to be disappointed by this venture.

Ed Powers new cum shot technique is fully in play here. For viewers that haven't experienced it, he cums in the condom and then drips the cum from the condom onto the female's chest. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be erotic, or if others find it erotic, but I certainly don't. The sexual themes in the film are oral, vaginal and anal sex with female masturbation. For viewers that care about such things, condoms are used in all the scenes and for the blow jobs as well.

Parting Thoughts:
This series has finally finished its downward decent and has hit rock bottom and is sure to disappoint all viewers, even fans of past volumes of the Dirty Debutantes series. I can't recommend a purchase of this disc and recommend that if you are considering purchasing it that you give it a rental first.
