The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are okay. The audio is clear and well balanced for the most part, but there are a few background noises that do interfere a little in a few places. The video is nicely presented in anamorphic widescreen, and looks pretty good. The action is clear and well lit, but there is a fair amount of camera motion and a few soft focus blurs that interfere with the action.

Music: There's a little music here and there that normally disappears before the action starts.

Menus: The main menu works together a still from the front cover with a clip from the movie for a fairly generic first impression. The chapter menu nicely lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and the name of the girl joining the Madisons.

The Feature

The Dirty 30's series focuses on women with a bit more experience. Each scene starts with a small story to lead into the real action, and always features a new girl getting it on with Ryan Madison and sometimes Kelly as well.

Busty brunette Claire comes out to welcome Ryan and Kelly as they pull up in their pickup and fifth wheel before heading back in to do a little cleaning. When she sees their camper rocking she comes down to peek in the window and can't help but let her hands wander a little. Claire peeks through the door before heading in to watch while continuing to play with herself, and gets embarrassed when a surprised Kelly finally notices her as she rides Ryan cowgirl style. Claire offers to leave but instead they have her stay to watch before joining in. There's also something about the scene that gave me the feeling that it seemed to be more about Ryan getting his pleasure than either of the girls getting theirs. This isn't a bad scene, but it doesn't make it too far beyond the average mark either.

It's a step above homemade porn due to some of the technical aspects and doesn't have the strong charm and chemistry of homemade porn, but it does have the same style of camera work where is seems like whoever was behind the camera wasn't quite sure of what they were doing. This isn't a bad scene, but it also never drew me in.

This is an okay scene. The opening is mildly amusing, and Hunter has a nice body and a cute face. She and Ryan do look to be having a good time, but I just couldn't get into the scene too much. This is another okay scene.

This is a pretty good scene, The opening drags out a little more than it needed, but Brandi looks hot enough through it that I had a hard time complaining too much. There's nice chemistry between her and Ryan, but his femmy looking friend watching them fuck while he drank wine didn't do anything to help the mood of the scene. Brandi and Ryan put out some nice energy along with good vocals from Brandi, but she also seems to overdo things a little much as they play. This is a decent scene, but nothing overly special.

Dirty 30's 8 is an above average fuck flick. There's frequently pretty good chemistry in the scenes, and the action moves along at a nice pace. Brandi might have turned out the best scene here, and although she played into it nicely, I think Claire's scene came out as one of the weakest due to the location with Hunter's being very close due to her yellow squirts and overdone vocals. At the same time the girls often seem like they're pushing the vocals a little much and the camera work feels like it's shot by somebody who doesn't really know how to work the camera that well. This gives the movie a slightly amateurish feeling, and it's saved from being the bad kind of amateurish just due to the cast looking like most of the time they are having quite a bit of fun. Although the scenes might not have always worked the best for me, they do come out feeling like the Madisons care about what they're doing, but they just seem like they need a little more guidance on how to do things a little better. The other problem for me is the limited cast and action. Ryan doesn't do a bad job with the girls, but seeing him in every single scene definitely got old for me and just having one threesome to mix things up didn't help much either. Mixing in a scene with Kelly taking on another girl would have really helped the release out, and a little anal wouldn't have hurt anything either. Dirty 30's 8 has a kind of amateurish charm which seems like it's going to be very hit or miss with people, and combined with the limited cast leaves the movie hanging just above the average mark.

The Extra Stuff

The feature slideshow lasts about three and a half minutes while the the BTS slideshow lasts about two and three quarter minutes. In each case you get about five seconds per decent looking snapshot that sometimes seems a bit skewed. There's also website information, a trailer for Pornstar Brides 2, and a behind the scenes featurette.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts about ten minutes and is nicely presented in anamorphic widescreen. Claire starts things out lotioning herself up while talking about her upcoming website, her tattoos, and what she's learned from her time in the business. Brittany is next, who talks a bit about what she's been doing in her time away from porn valley and how things have changed as well as showing off a bit. Brandi is next, who talks about feet with Ryan as well as fooling around a little in the bathroom. This is a nice behind the scenes featurette. There's some very nice personality from the girls and Ryan as well as some nice eye candy. It would have been nice if Hunter would have been included in here as well, but this is still a nice featurette that helps out the overall DVD.

Currently, many of Kelly Madison Productions DVDs can be found for between about $12 and $25 with many stores offering them in the $15 to $20 range. Aim for the low end or rent this one first. I can see this one having a charm for many people, but others might find it a bit rough. The technical aspects are above average and there's a touch of effort put into the extras to help out the overall DVD. This is an above average release.
