Devinn Lane Show Episode 2, The Review

If you can get your mind around the idea that two of the “Violation of…” series of films could win the award for best girl/girl, that the series itself could win as best series—twice—then you probably have a higher regard for AVN than I do. While I don’t disagree with everything AVN stands for, I think their credibility in the girl/girl arena is somewhere south of nil. Devinn Lane’s credibility takes a substantial hit in “The Devinn Lane Show 2: Less Talk More Action.” Taking her cue from a top ten list devised by the editorial staff at AVN (the top ten things they’d like to see more of in porn), she builds a scene with T. J. Hart around double masturbation and camera babble (that’s when a porn star talks to the camera, trying to coax a reaction out of the audience that the lousy sex isn’t capable of producing on its own). The result—not to put too fine a point on it—is, of course, crap.

But then Devinn’s sense of what constitutes good girl/girl is highly suspect anyway. An earlier scene in this film starts as a commercial for her own line of sex toys; together with Stephanie Swift, she moves to more comfortable surroundings to provide a demonstration of two of her favorites. Both women are quite vocal and neither addresses the camera that I recall, but the demonstration theme kills the scene. Why is it that these chicks never demonstrate how to look like you’re having a really good time?

Except for a spectacularly unimpressive solo masturbation scene to conclude the film, the rest of this movie is boy/girl—that is, two couples scenes, one threesome, and a three-couple fuck fest. Remarkably, three of the scenes have something, but only one of them is truly good.

The first scene is a “secret” scene. It’s a secret to Kristal Summers, who is brought on to a 70s style set in a blindfold and seated on a sofa. Reaching out, she finds Eric Masterson soon enough, but Billy Glide has to approach from behind and pull her hair to get her attention. It’s a hell of a setup, I think, and offers some intriguing possibilities, but Kristal’s too much the pro to milk the best from it. After the blindfold comes off, it’s just another MMF fuck scene, albeit one without double penetration.

In the next to last scene, we’re treated to a little lesson in anal sex by “specialists” Nicole Sheridan and real-life partner Voodoo. Afterwards they screw, every which way. Where most porn star pairings lack chemistry, this is one that fairly overflows with it. In fact, if anything, it’s too personal. Nicole and Voodoo tease each other in such a way that they seem to be pioneering a whole new genre: the porno in-joke.

The only scene that really works is a nightclub job that stars Frank Fortuna and Amber Michaels, who show Nicole and Voodoo a thing or two about anal. Amber’s a chick who just has to have it in the ass, and she takes Frank that way in five different positions. Amber’s so energetic, so sexually dynamic that Frank has all he can do just to keep up. But Amber pays him back in advance, with a deep and enthusiastic opening blowjob. Interestingly, this is the only scene in the film that doesn’t directly involve the performers in any playful or hammy nonsense before the sex begins. That should tell us something. I just hope it doesn’t take an AVN top ten list to get the message through to Devinn.
