The Short Story

Initial Expectations: Deeper has been one of my favorite series from Digital Playground. I can't help but go into each new installment with very high expectations.

Initial Reaction: It's another worthy entry into what's been a great and reliable series.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting power themes that don't go over the top and an artistic eye

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting heavy art or degradation with their power themes

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done. The audio is clear and well balanced, and I didn't notice any background noises. The video is nicely presented in anamorphic widescreen. The lighting is nicely done and there's a slight hint of grain that helps the artistic feeling of the movie. The only complaint I can have about the video is that during some of the fourth scene the sun shade on the camera seems to get a little extra aggressive on the corners.

Music: None

Menus: The main menu blends a little animation with a still for a simple but nice first impression. The chapter menu is much the same way, and lets you choose a scene bases on a small clip of each scene and a chapter number, as well as the name of the girl in her first chapter.

The Feature

Digital Playground's Deeper series has focused on style more than plot, and often chooses a theme to build the movie around. Here the theme is power.

As bottle blonde maid Lacey washes dishes, brunette Adrianna questions Mick about whether he'll make it home for dinner and doesn't believe him when he says he'll call her. At roughly twenty five minutes it's definitely a long scene for Digital Playground, but it uses the time very well and never feels like it's dragging the scene out. This is a great scene that gives the movie a very strong start.

Kayden starts out the second scene asking Tommy what he wants. When he tells her to do what she wants and what she does best, she bitchily tells him that she doesn't have a best and he tells her that she should go if she doesn't have a best. When she slaps him letting him know that it's her best, he lets her know that it was a pretty sad best and that he should show her his best as he kisses her hard and they start to undress each other. He kisses his way across her tits and down to her pussy as she stands in front of him, and then lets Kayden get down to suck and stroke his cock in return. They move to a fake fur rug on the carpet for him to spoon her before Kayden gets on top to ride him in each of the cowgirls. This is another impressive scene. The opening has a very nice edge and the chemistry quickly develops between Kayden and Tommy. This is another scene that worked very well for me and kept the momentum of the movie rolling very well.

Dark haired Priya starts the third scene kneeling on a black fake fur rug with her wrists bound wearing black bug-eye shades looking at a silver phone by a black piano in a white room. He says that he will if she won't, and when she refuses another change he sets it down on the floor beside her and starts to kiss her neck while groping her tits. He pulls out her tits as he continues to kiss and grope her before she lays back and lets him rub her pussy. Of course Tony moves down to lick her pussy as well, and soon after Priya is sucking his cock in reciprocation. This is a pretty hot scene. I love the opening with Tony laying the phone down for Priya's main man to her them, and the chemistry between them starts out fairly strong. The scene is every bit as well captured as the others, but there's something about Priya's vocals that seemed a little forced and the scene seemed a little hung up on the spooning. This left this scene lagging behind the first two slightly, and although it's still a hot scene it doesn't quite keep the momentum going in this scene that was flowing through the first two.

Kimberly Kane puts the final touches on setting a table wearing only a black necklace, fishnets, and panties before the doorbell rings and Camryn, dressed in a similar white outfit and Johnny, dressed all in black, arrive and take their seats at the table. They chat about the upcoming meal before deciding to play a little truth or dare, and when Kimberly dares Camryn to make Johnny jealous, Camryn comes over to give her a long, deep, and playful kiss. Camryn goes back to give Johnny a kiss, and when Kimberly brings Camryn out for another kiss Johnny isn't far behind to get in on the action and starts kissing Camryn's tits. They head upstairs to a bedroom and starts kissing all around on the bed while Kimberly gets Johnny's belt around her neck for a leash and Camryn breaks out Johnny's cock to start sucking while Kimberly starts to play with Camryn's pussy. This is another pretty hot scene. Camryn and Johnny keep things moving well, and Kimberly fits into the mix well also. The opening doesn't have quite the spark as the other scenes do, but the chemistry builds nicely as the scene goes on. This also came off as one of the weaker scenes for me, but in this case I can say that it's probably due to Kimberly Kane more than anything as she's a star who just doesn't do much for me even though she normally turns out a nice performance and gets into the sex well. This is a good scene, but I just couldn't get into it that well.

Tommy coaxes Adrianna to give him a little more as he watches her in her kind of vintage lingerie and stockings with a video camera. When he chokes her lightly he quickly learns that she likes it and she lets him play with her a bit while giving him plenty of looks at her multiply pierced tongue. There's a nice struggle for power to start the scene and I love the vintage style to Adrianna's outfit. This scene doesn't quite get up to the level of the opening scenes, but it isn't far off.

Deeper 9 is a pretty hot fuck flick. It does a great job blending a style that's slightly artistic with issues of power and control in a manner where neither the style nor the power issues completely overpower the other, and better yet, neither of them overpowers the sex. There's nice chemistry in each of the scenes, but the opening scene with Adrianna Lynn, Lacey Maguire, and Mick Blue and the second scene with Kayden Kross and Tommy Gunn were easily my favorites here, The next two scenes faltered a little due to Priya Rae's vocals and Kimberly Kane, who just doesn't do anything for me, but there isn't a single scene in the movie that falls anywhere close to the average level. Obviously the main draw here is Digital Playground contract girl Adrianna Lynn, and she does a very nice job in each of her two scenes. I know that many consider Digital Playground a “couples studio”, but each of her scenes has a nice edge to it and the action never feels watered down like it can be at some other studios who aim their movies at the couples market. The Deeper series has long been one of my favorite series from Digital Playground, and Deeper 9 is another very nice addition to the series.

The Extra Stuff

Trailers are included for Pirates 2, Island Fever 4, Jack’s Teen America: Mission 18, Babysitters, Jana: Sexual Freak 4, Hannah: Erotique, Pirates, and the Virtual Sex With... series. The photo gallery can be viewed either manually or as a slide show lasting nearly four minutes with about six seconds per very nice looking snapshot or full screen photo. There's also a biography for Adrianna Lynn, cumshot recaps, contact information, and a behind the scenes featurette.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts about six minutes. Adrianna, Priya, and Camryn each give a little eye candy to Jamal behind the camera, and there's also a little fun with Kimberly Kane. For the second day Adrianna talks about her dog and shows the damage it did to her and has a little fun between takes. There's also a few moments and a bit of eye candy with Kayden. This is an okay behind the scenes featurette. At only six minutes there isn't much time to get much going, but there are a few chuckles and some decent eye candy.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Digital Playground’s releases can be found online for between about $18 and $28 with a few stores offering them for under $20. At the low end this one's a pretty good buy. The first two scenes are great, but the others fall around the good mark. The technical aspects are nicely done and there's a bit of care put into the extras as well with a modest behind the scenes featurette. This is a good release that nicely blends an artistic eye with power and control themes.
