Initial Expectations: This has been a great series right from the start, and with Deeper 3 being one of my picks as Best 10 Releases of 2006 I can't help but really look forward to this one.

Initial Reaction: It's good, but not nearly as good as some of the other installments of the series.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting stylized porn with a touch of intensity.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done. The audio is clear and well balanced, and I don't think I noticed a single background noise. The video is very nicely presented in anamorphic widescreen, and I can see it being a bit hit or miss for many people. The video has a stylized look that mixes in a bit of natural light, a washed out look, and other artistic effects that seems to be very hit or miss with people. For me it's normally a hit, but there's a bit of camera motion and some extreme close-ups that did hold it back slightly for me.

Music: The music starts out soft and romantic to start the first scene, and then changes to a hard dance beat as the sex starts. That beat never changes for the rest of the movie, but it does fade away into the background.

Menus: The main menu nicely works a bit of animation into a look that's very similar to the boxcover for a very nice first impression. The chapter menu is a bit generic giving you a clip of each scene and a chapter number, but does help itself out by letting you know who the girl is in her first chapter each time.

The Feature

Deeper 4 continues Robby D.'s more artistic series for Digital Playground. This time hottie Shay Jordan gets to be the girl of choice who gets into two scenes. There isn't a plot to the movie, but there is a touch of intensity provided by the scenes having a bit of fetish play or just a touch of a more intense sex theme to them.

Scene 1 – Shay Jordan and Jerry

Shay starts things out enjoying a bottle of wine with Jerry as she wonders aloud if she gets many girls with his accent and lets him know she's getting a bit of a buzz. Scene 2 – Marie Luv and Marco Duato

The camera gets a little close for my tastes here, but the playful nature of the scene and the chemistry helped it to rise above that very nicely for me. This scene was a bit slow for me at times, but it still ended up working very well for me.

Scene 5 – Holly Morgan, Mikayla, and Ben English

That said, at over a half hour the scene also got way too long for me and I started to lose interest in it about two thirds of the way through. There's nice chemistry and a great idea for this scene, but it just lasted a little too long for me.

Deeper 4 is a pretty hot and piece of artistic smut. I really like how Robby starts each scene with a touch of more intense fetish, such as Shay and Scott's smothering or the peeing between Celina and Scott. There's a nice mix of playfulness and intensity to the sex as well, and more often than not the scenes mix it up a bit. Robby adds a bit of style to it all by going with a more artistic style, and that's where I can see some people having problems with it. I like more stylized porn now and then because it helps the movie to feel a little more unique and artistic, but I can understand others wanting to see everything crystal clear when they have equipment which will allow them to do so. My other problem was that the scenes got a little too similar. In the previous installments of this series, Robby really seemed to be pushing himself creatively, but here the style and setups seem a bit more pedestrian and restrained. The final scene, which was the longest in the movie, also got a bit too long for me. Deeper 4 has some nice style and ideas, but it isn't quite at the same level as the rest of the series.

This is a nice behind the scenes featurette. Jordan seems a bit lost at times, but it doesn't really hold things back due to her intro of going from Kraft Services babe to behind the scenes babe. The featurette is a bit choppy, but still captures some nice personality while also including some nice humor. This is a pretty good behind the scenes featurette.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Digital Playground’s bigger releases can be found online for between about $18 and $28 with a few stores offering them for under $20. Rent this one first or aim a bit lower than this. The movie isn't bad, but it doesn't feel as original and varied as some of the others in the series. The technical aspects a nicely artistic, and show some nice care. There's also some care put into the extras to help out the overall DVD. Even though the movie didn't work for me as well as some others in this series, this DVD shows some nice care.
