Initial Expectations: The Quaze is normally good for a good sex, low plot feature, which is what I expect here.

Initial Reaction: It’s a fine fuck film without much fast forward fodder.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody looking for a light fuck film

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody looking for a heavy plot of extremely hardcore sex

Audio /Video Quality: The audio and video are both very good. There is very little grain to the video as well as very few lighting problems. The audio is very well balanced and doesn’t have any background noises.

Music: The music is pretty normal porn music and is balanced extremely well with the rest of the audio.

Menus: The menus have a nice animation using a picture of the DVD case. It’s kind of a video game feel, but it’s fun. Sadly, the chapter menu lists the scenes by scene number rather than the performers in them.

Disc Problems: I had repeated problems playing this DVD on my DVD-ROM. Every now and then I have a problem that I blame on the hardware. I had more problems with this one DVD than I’ve had with all others combined. I also know that I’m not the only one who’s had problems with this DVD .

The Feature: Nicole Sheridan and Joel Lawrence are married, but just barely. They’re constantly fighting, often over sex and Joel’s porno collection, and finally agree to go to a marriage counselor. The marriage counselor tells them that they have some major sexual problems and need to explore the dark side but indulging their fantasies for 24 hours without repercussions and without ever talking about it again.

Alexandra Quinn starts things off with gal pals Casha Rae Allias and Wendi Knight while Mark Davis videotapes them before joining in himself. Alexandra looks almost like she’s riding a mechanical bull as she straddles Mark Davis’s face before bending down to help Wendi suck Mark’s cock. Casha, meanwhile, is content to much away on Wendi’s pussy. They break into two couples next with Mark starting out on Alexandra before moving onto Wendi, with Casha eating pussy the whole time. Although it’s a good idea and handled pretty well, Dark Side doesn’t live up to its full potential. Quasarman does his normal above average job of capturing the sex, but the story leaves much to be desired. Rather than having fun with the fantasies that Nicole and Joel have, they’re almost completely ignored. The fantasies are also tame enough that it doesn’t seem like much. Don’t get me wrong, there’s some hot sex here, it just could have been better. At least Metro and Quasarman care enough to finish the feature with real credits.

Extras: The slide show lasts just over two minutes with five seconds per good quality photo. Trailers are available for Things Change: My First Time, Justine: Nothing to Hide 2, Sexy Nurses 2 , Taboo 12, Taboo 13, Things Change: Letting Go, and Hot Buttered Blues . There’s a long gap between each trailer, and sadly there’s no menu if you only want to check out a certain trailer. There’s also a little website and corporate information.

Rather than give the standard bios, Metro has included a few interviews with the stars. Bianca Jordan talks about where she’s from, what she likes and won’t do, and dancing. Ashley Sage, one of the few porn stars with braces, talks about what she will and won’t do, shows off her body a little, and comes off more than a little airheaded overall. Finally, Nicole Sheridan talks about not wearing panties and what she loves to do and have done to her, as well as showing off an amazing ass. It’s a nice change from the standard bio while giving some of the same information.

There are multiple angles included, and thankfully Metro doesn’t list them as “true” multiple angles. Some of the time they are the real multiple angle, but more often they just seem to be the same scene just off by a minute or two.

Finally, there’s twenty four minute behind the scenes featurette on the making of Dark Side shot by Frank Bruno. Although it doesn’t include any real interviews with the cast or the Quaze, it includes almost everything else. There’s the cast and crew joking around, the cast screwing up their lines, and Tom Byron giving directions. Wait a minute, my bad. That’s Quasarman giving directions, as well as adding a little information here and there. There’s even a suitcase pimp sighting or two. Although it isn’t as organized as some other behind the scenes features, it’s still very good.

Overall: Currently, Dark Side can be found online for between $21 and $24 with very few retailers offering it so far. Although this seems a little high, fans of Quasarman will probably be happy. The sex is above average, as are both the transfer and extras. Be warned, however, that there have been some problems with this DVD.
