Dangerous Liaisons (Lucas Entertainment) Review

There have been many film versions of Choderlos de Laclos’ classic French novel Les liaisons dangereuses. Although the best one is called Valmont and stars Colin Friel and Annette Benning, the one most viewers have probably seen is the one called Dangerous Liaisons with Glenn Close and an appallingly miscast John Malkovitch. In this immortal immoral tale, the Glenn/Annette character spurred by jealousy wants the John/Colin character to seduce the intended bride of her former lover. It’s the old case of Hell hath no fury like woman scorned. The reward for successfully deflowering the bride to be is a romp with the scorned lady.

Now Michael Lucas has used the novel to make a gay porn version. In Michael’s version set in the fashion industry, Michael has wisely cast himself in the role of the rejected lover who here is the head of a large fashion empire and is called Marcus von Halpern. (A rather long name to go on a label.) Gus Mattox is cast in the John/Colin role, and here he is a fashion photographer, Valentine Moore. Gus is quite a macho hunk and in hope of bedding Michael (uh, Marcus) he agrees to seduce Sebastian, the model lover (Wilfried Knight) of Marcus’ former partner and lover Tom Mercedes (Kent Larson).

When we first see this duo, Wilfried is all-agog at going to be photographed by the renowned photographer. Kent, smelling a rat, tries to dissuade him, but Wilfried overcomes his lover’s objections by making love to him, giving us our first sex scene. I am surprised when Wilfried tops Kent, as I don’t remember ever seeing Kent bottom before. Then Kent tops Wilfried. Now although this is a great fuck with Wilfried shooting a great load all over his belly while Kent is still fucking him, I think it would have enhanced the plot more if it had been established that Wilfried always topped Kent. Then when Wilfried bottomed for Gus it would have been much more humiliating for Kent’s character if the lover who always topped him bottomed for someone else.

But before we get to that scene, we have Kent dallying with one of his young employees—Owen Hawk. Both are working late and Owen comes on to Kent in no uncertain terms. Their kissing is passionate—so passionate that one would think Kent’s present lover Wilfried is on his way out the door and Owen is going to take his place. However, Valentine’s triumph is short lived. I can’t tell you how, but there’s an unforeseen twist at the end you’ll just have to discover for yourself.

Two bonus scenes!
The first is with Lucas and Larson. Lucas said Kent would be easy to fall in love with. In watching this it appears that Michael has already fallen somewhat.
The second is with those two beauties Wilfried Knight and the breathtaking Bruce Beckham where we see their versatility in a flip-flop fuck. (I know now where to find a scene when I can’t sleep that is guaranteed to bring me off.)
Finally—there is a Watersport scene with Michael & Kent. It begins as yet another hot fuck and suck before Michael lets loose into Kent’s mouth and on his butt. So should you go for the director’s edit? I’m certainly glad I did!

Lucas says he wanted to make the best gay porn film ever. Undoubtedly it is one of the best. What incredible things Lucas has accomplished since he arrived in this counry. He's established a successful studio and produced many superior films. Dangerous Liaisons was an ambitious and expensive undertaking that has unquestionably paid off and should be hard to beat when the awards' time comes around. I loved it. It’s a definite must see! And see also if you don’t agree with me about Bruce Beckham.
