The Short Story

Initial Expectations: I haven't seen anything from Marquis Media, but I'm almost always open to try out a new fetish release. I'm going into this one with a bit of curiousity.

Initial Reaction: It leaves a bit to be desired as a solo movie, but does the fetish styles well enough to leave me curious about other offerings from Marquis.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects show some nice effort. The audio is dominated by the music, so there's very little of the performers to hear. The video is very nicely presented in anamorphic widescreen. The lighting varies a little, but the picture is clear and the camera work is smooth.

Music: There's a heavy electronic feel to the music that dominates the audio. In some cases that might interfere with the action, but here it fits in perfectly.

Menus: The main menu is extremely basic and just gives a still and the choices. The chapter menu is also very generic, and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a scene number rather than giving something useful like the name of the performer in the scene.

The Feature

CyberVamps puts a little twist on the standard female masturbation movie. Each scene features a girl masturbating, but focuses as much or more on The artistic sets and fetish outfits for the girls than it does on the sex.

This is another pretty good scene. Once again the focus is on the style as much as the substance, and the girl does a good job of mixing things up between the toy and her fingers. This scene worked pretty well for me.

The scene also seemed pretty cold, and although part of me thought it was over far too quickly another part was happy with the movie moving on. This is an okay scene without anything too special about it.

Lucy starts her scene in the pink and black room wearing a pink and black rubber outfit that gives access to all her goodies. This is a pretty good scene. I really like how it moved from the masturbation to the lesbian action, and although the blonde never gives too much, her giving a little as she joins the redhead on the floor added a lot to the scene for me. There's a touch of chemistry that develops there, and combined with the visuals helped to make this one of my favorite scenes in the movie.

The dark brunette in black rubber fetishwear with olive rubber stockings in from the first scene returns for the penultimate scene in the pink and black room running her hands around herself with a little oil. This is another pretty average scene. There's nice style, and the masturbation works a little better here than in some of the other scenes. This is an okay scene that matches most of the rest of the movie in style and substance.

The scene appears to be set around a photo shoot, and that's just the way it feels. The scene is all about the visuals, but there never seemed to be anything beyond that. Katsumi might be darn hot, but this scene was far from it.

Cybervamps is a movie that leaves me a bit torn. As a fetish movie and one that focuses on fetishwear and style, it's pretty good. There's some nice attention to the girls oiling themselves up as well as good attention being put towards their outfits. As a masturbation movie, however, it leaves a lot to be desired. There's so much attention put towards the outfits that most of the time the sexuality and masturbatory enjoyment gets lost. It does show up a few times, but it's very rare. The movie also fell a notch or two just due to how similar the scenes are to each other. The only real difference between the scenes is the color of the room and the fetishwear, and although the scenes often worked okay for me on their own, as they piled on each other they left me less satisfied all the time. Although Cybervamps was very hit or miss for me sexually, masturbation movies are always very hit or miss for me and the stylistic aspect of it is good enough that it does make me curious about what else Marquis has to offer. Cybervamps leaves a bit to be desired as a masturbation movie, but might work fairly well for those with an eye for fetish styles.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many Marquis Media DVDs can be found online for between about $20 and $28 with few stores offering them near the low end. Rent this one first. I can see it missing big for some people while working quite well for others. The technical aspects show some nice care, but sadly there's no effort put into the extras. This is a hit or miss movie on a DVD that could use a bit more effort.

Note to Marquis Media: You put some very nice effort into your main movie. I hope you soon do the same with the rest of the DVD. Something as simple as a bonus scene would really help the extras and including the performer's name for each scene by the chapter number in the chapter menu would make the DVD feel a bit friendlier and show a little more care towards the consumer.
