The Short Story

Initial Expectations: Homegrown has never really impressed me. I'm not expecting that to change here despite a love of cream pies.

Initial Reaction: It's an overly short and fairly weakly shot release on a DVD that doesn't show much effort. At least some of the cream pies look real.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting an ethnic mix of girls taking cream pies

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting a full length release or average camera work

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects don't quite make it to the average mark. The audio often has a good balance, but even more often has very noticeable background noises. The video is presented in the full frame format and looks okay. There's just a hint of pixelation but camera motion is not uncommon. The lighting is pretty good but there are a few places where the lighting is overly bright. A lot of people seem to consider this look “amateur”, but with how many scenes Homegrown has put out it comes off more like being sloppy and not caring to me.

False Advertising: The back cover claims there are ”five delectable darlings” in the movie, but there are only four. This does look like a fairly honest mistake since it also lists only four scenes, but due to Homegrown almost always having a sloppy rather than an amateur feel to it, I'm deducting another half point from the overall score.

Disc Complaints: The authoring is a bit funky, which doesn't seem to be anything too unusual with Homegrown. Rather than having the entire movie on a title that makes it easy for viewers to skip to where ever they choose in the movie (which is extremely nice if you get tired of a scene and just want to jump ahead randomly or if you're viewing the movie later and want to go to a specific point in the movie) each scene has its own title, similar to how some studios run their TV shows on DVD. This style of authoring has thankfully gone the way of the dodo with most studios, but Homegrown and Naughty America seem to be sticking with it. Both studios are distributed by Pure Play and also both don't seem to be willing to put any real effort into their extras (yes, Homegrown DVDs do have extras, but they also appear to be the same on all of their DVDs). Seeing that lack of care in the same areas for two studios being distributed by the same company I can't help but think that the problem and lack of care lies with Pure Play Media more than anything. With that little care coming from their releases maybe the customer should just be glad that they get a time stamp throughout the movie.

Menus: There's only one menu, and it blends a simple green background with text choices for extras and clips from each scene with each girl's name to let you jump to specific chapters. Oddly, you're never brought to the start of each scene and instead get to start each scene about thirty seconds in.

The Feature

Cream Pie 52 gives you just that. Each scene features girls who appear to be amateurs with scenes that are shot with a style that feels more sloppy and uncaring than amateur. At the end, each scene features an internal cumshot finish.

Scene 1 – Rachel and Dean

Overly implanted bottle blonde Rachel starts out sucking Dean's cock. She turns around so he can fuck her doggie style before letting her get up top for a reverse cowgirl ride. This is a pretty average scene. Rachel isn't bad looking, but really needed to save her pennies a little longer so she could get a well done boob job instead of the C- one she ended up with. She has a bit of an amateurish feel to her performance and looks around for a bit of guidance a few times, which makes this one of the most amateur feeling scenes I've watched from Homegrown. Sadly the “Wow! Look at all the cum in her pussy.” ending after the editing cut brought it back down. This is an average at best scene.

Scene 2 – Heidi Brooks and Jean Pierre

Half bottle blonde Heidi starts the second scene out in a black t-shirt and patterned white pants cleaning up in the kitchen. She strips down to a white bra and panties while chatting with the cameraman and cleans up a little more as he watches before deciding she's had enough cleaning. She strips all the way down and lets him play with her a bit before stroking and sucking his cock. Scene 3 – Mila and Lincoln

Mila, a twenty one year old black girl, starts her scene in a red t-shirt and jeans sitting on the edge of the couch and chatting with the cameraman. She strips down and shows off for the camera before letting him play with her pussy and oil up her ass as she bends over on the couch. This is a pretty average scene. Mila's good looking and has a very nice natural body with a smile that sadly doesn't appear nearly enough. She doesn't put out a lot of energy or vocals throughout the scene, and the scene is held back a little more by being dominated by gyno-cam footage. At least the cream pie appears to be real. Mila has some potential, but this scene barely taps it.

Scene 4 – Pica and Chu

While chatting about how they met laying back on the couch, Chu runs his hands around Pica's body as she lies back in a pair of short cutoff jean shorts and a red halter top. This is a decent scene, and one of the best in the movie. There's a great feeling of chemistry between Pica and Chu, and no shortage of smiles between them. Sadly the editing cuts really make me doubt the cream pie finish, but Pica's laughs and smiles help raise it back up rather than letting it kill the scene. This is an enjoyable scene that ends the movie on a fairly high note.

Cream Pie 52 is probably the best release I've seen from Homegrown Video, but that still isn't saying a lot. Unlike most of their releases it isn't filled with recognizable girls, and but sadly half of the cream pies leave me doubting their full authenticity. It's too bad because Pica and Chu put out some great chemistry and I love her smiles and reactions after the pop. The bigger problem is the overall feel. Homegrown is supposedly one of the top amateur porn companies out there, but every time I watch one of their movies they feel more sloppy than anything (and their DVD authoring doesn't help that feeling much). Cream Pie 52 doesn't quite make it to the average mark.

The Extra Stuff

The extras here appear to be the same extras that are on all other Homegrown DVDs. Roughly eighteen minutes of trailers are included for several other homegrown releases, and often feature fairly well known porn stars. Sadly, the title of each scene is put right across the middle of the screen through every trailer and after every movie you get a commercial for how to order them and Homegrown's other websites. The trailers are also all included on one chapter rather than each trailer having their own chapter so the viewer can easily skip trailers that doesn't interest them. There's also weblinks, a blooper reel, and a so-called bonus scene.

A so-called bonus scene is included from Homegrown 648 and features brunette Claudine who looks very familiar. I always like to see bonus scenes as it gives me a good feeling for how the rest of the movie or series might be. Sadly, this one did nothing for me. Rather than being a full scene, instead it looks to be a fifteen or twenty minute scene (guessing from the lengths of the scenes on this release) that's been hacked down to under five minutes. This isn't a bonus scene, this is a trailer focused on one scene and it brought down the extras for me since it seemed like there would have easily been room on the DVD for the full scene.

The blooper reel lasts about twelve and a half minutes. Unlike most blooper reels which actually contain bloopers from the movie on the DVD, this is a completely generic blooper reel that spans the entire range of Homegrown's releases. It spans so many movies that it's even organized into areas such as bodily functions. There's a few chuckles here, but it's not nearly as good as it might have been if it featured clips from this movie.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many Homegrown DVDs can be found online for between about $13 and $25 with a few stores offering them near the low end. Aim low here. The movie's one of the best I've seen from Homegrown, but it's quite short and still leaves a bit to be desired. The technical aspects are very inconsistent and every extra here can be found on other Homegrown DVDs. This is another disappointing Homegrown release.

Note to Homegrown: The four versus five girl claim on the back cover looks like an honest mistake, but it does continue to show you being more sloppy than amateur. If you're going to list a running time on the cover, please make sure it's accurate. A little effort towards the extras would also be nice rather than just reusing the same ones on every release.
