The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: Most amateur movies are lacking for technical aspects, and this one is no different. The audio often has background noises and a slightly muffled feel. The video is normally well lit, but often has a noticeable amount of grain and a tint that’s a little off. There’s also a little breakdown in places. Normally I get the feeling that the technical aspects lack because the equipment isn’t quite as good as what most pros use. Here, it seems like it lacks because people are sloppy and using it as an excuse to not do quite as good of a job.

Menus: The main menu is pretty good, and works in a clip from the movie to give a pretty good first impression. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene, and lets you choose between four places in each scene.

The Feature

Cream Pies gives you just that. Each scene uses an amateur performer and ends in a cream pie. Sometimes it includes a little interview at the start, and sometimes it just goes right into the scene.

Scene 1 - Silk and a guy

Silk, a homely brunette (who looks like she’s possibly Latino) with a gap in her teeth, several tattoos, and several piercings, starts things out with an interview as music plays loudly over it. She talks about dancing and doing her first cream pie before going right to sucking cock. This is a hit and miss scene. At the start, the scene goes far past Silk’s looks, and actually drew me in a bit. Her reactions looked real and she seemed fairly inexperienced. She did look at the camera a little, but did so in the way that’s so common with amateur scenes. The last few minutes of the scene, however, really disappointed me. Silk looks like she’s trying not to laugh as she’s claiming that she’s having an orgasm, and nothing about her body language does anything to make me think other than she’s faking it. The cream pie looks real, but for some reason about the time it’s about to ooze out of Silk’s pussy there’s an editing cut and it’s gone when the camera comes back. Silk works on pushing a little out, but only gets enough out to see and not enough to dribble down. This scene pushes average.

Scene 2 - Jayden Fox and a guy

This scene alone makes Cream Pie 27 worth the rental price, and is easily the best in the movie.

Scene 3 - Clarissa Doll and a guy

Blonde Clarissa starts out her scene showing off a little and letting the camera know that she’s going to do her first anal cream pie. She talks a little bit with the camera man before things cut to her taking a cock in her mouth as she frequently mugs the camera. This is a pretty average scene. The camera work also left a bit to be desired here, and focused heavily on the penetration close-ups or slightly off angles that I didn’t care for. I love the cream pie here, but that’s about it. This was the weakest scene in the movie for me.

Scene 4 - Faith and a guy

Faith, a slightly older but sultry dirty blonde with an implanted rack, starts things out learning that she’s about to do a cream pie scene and talking about it without too much enthusiasm while saying that she loves it. Scene 5 - Katie and a guy

Cream Pie 27 is a decent cream pie movie. I know that much of the charm that Xplor relies on is the amateur feel, and I think it hurt the movie for me more than anything else. Yes, the girls appear fresh, but none of the movie has the charm that shines in amateur movies. With amateur movies you normally have real couples, and I only got that feeling with Jayden and her partner. The rest of the scenes fell into the Ed Powers style of amateur movies, which I just don’t consider amateur. The camera work shows some ability, but never captures the roughness or the enthusiasm that’s normally in amateur movies. The scenes don’t have a continuous feel to their style, and Jayden and Faith easily put in the strongest scenes while Clarissa comes in at the other end. Cream Pie 27 is a decent cream pie movie, but suffered from feeling amateurish rather than like an amateur movie.

The Extra Stuff

There’s over an hour of previews for Homegrown’s releases, including both boxcovers and trailers for movies. The photo gallery lasts about two and a half minutes with roughly five seconds per below average full screen photo. There’s also bloopers and web links.

The blooper reel lasts fifteen minutes. It starts with a bit of extra footage and screwing around on the set of Eye Contact 19. It moves on with a Latino threesome, a few bloopers, and even a guy jerking himself off into his mouth. Sometimes you’re told where the sequences come from, but most times you’re not. You never really know what’s going to happen next here, and that’s not quite the complement it should be. There’s plenty of what goes wrong on a porn set, and although I’m sure that most of it is supposed to be amusing, I rarely had more than a chuckle here. I was also disappointed that none of the footage came from this feature.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Xplor’s DVDs can be found online for between about $12 and $25 with stores everywhere in between. I’d rent this one first, as I really don’t know if it will have much replay value for a lot of people. The cream pies are real, but the girls aren’t always the best. The extras show a little effort but are generic, and the technical aspects lack. I really have a hard time seeing this one as more than a one timer.

Note to Xplor: I know you’re trying to have an amateur look, but there’s a difference between amateur and sloppy. If you’re going to this extent, please include full credits and put some effort into unique extras rather than ones which appear to be completely generic for your releases.
