The Movie

The Cookie Jar is a feature-length vignette-style adult movie from writer Bree Mills and director Craven Moorehead. As is standard with Bree Mills' Gamma Films' Pure Taboo releases, The Cookie Jar isn't just a lame set-up and a sex scene. The establishment of the plot for the movie takes up a good portion of the runtime. The Cookie Jar takes the time to make an actual story, and develops three-dimensional characters, which is part of what makes Pure Taboo's vignette-style adult movies so good.

In The Cookie Jar, Travis (Ricky Johnson) brings his girlfriend Amy (Jaye Summers) home to meet his parents (Tyler Knight and Mercedes Carrera) for the first time. Once there, Amy gets the feeling that Travis' dad doesn't like her.

At first, The Cookie Jar feels like it is going to be a reverse of Jordan Peele's Get Out. However, viewers will quickly find out that The Cookie Jar isn't anything like Get Out. The set-up for The Cookie Jar is excellent. The movie takes its time to establish the characters of Travis and Amy, so we get a feel for them, but at the same time keeps Mr. and Mrs. Greene, Travis' parents, shrouded in mystery.

Much of why The Cookie Jar ultimately works so well is the cast in the movie. Bree Mills and Craven Moorehead tend to bring out the best of their cast in their Pure Taboo movies, and The Cookie Jar continues this trend. The Cookie Jar was perfectly cast; everyone in the movie puts in excellent non-sexual performances. The two highlights are Tyler Knight and Jaye Summers, who have to perform in some complicated situations with a range of emotions and both handle them perfectly.

The sex scenes are well done as well. Unlike many of the vignette-style movies that are made for Pure Taboo, in addition to the main sex scene, there are a couple of more tease-style sex scenes in the movie. All of the sex fits in with the plot, none of the sexual portions feel like a diversion from the story. The cast, who perform in the sexual sequences, does an excellent job as well.

The technical side of The Cookie Jar is perfect. The music used is ideal for the vignette-style movie giving the movie a haunting mood. The movie is beautifully shot in a cinematic-style not often seen in adult movies. This reviewer thinks the beginning was shot a little overly bright; however, this doesn't wreck the viewing experience. The sets and locations used are perfect for the movie. The Cookie Jar is definitely worth watching.

The Cookie Jar was shot digitally and is presented in the anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1 in 1080p. The Cookie Jar looks beautiful with a crisp, clean, and clear image without any noticeable imperfections. The colors in the movie are great. There is a PureTaboo bug in the bottom right-hand corner.

The Cookie Jar is presented with an English Stereo audio track. As with the video, there aren't any discernible issues with the sound. The movie sounds great, and the dialog is clear and easy to understand at all times.

Final Thoughts

The Cookie Jar is a twisted feature-length vignette-style adult movie from Pure Taboo. The Cookie Jar features a well-developed plot, excellent acting, and some great sex. Due to the amount of work that Pure Taboo puts into the set up of the plot, and the amount of work that went into making the movie, The Cookie Jar will appeal to fans of feature films and is well worth watching.
