The Short Story

Initial Expectations: Cherries 65 sticks in my mind as being pretty hot. For that reason I'm going into this one with a bit of hope.

Initial Reaction: It's quite possibly the best release I've seen from Homegrown.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects barely make it past the average mark. The audio is pretty clear from start to finish, although there are a few background noises that pop in occasionally. The video is presented in a mix of non-anamorphic widescreen and full frame format footage. The lighting and grain varies a bit from scene to scene, but for amateur porn it looks pretty good.

Disc Complaints: The authoring is a bit funky, which doesn't seem to be anything too unusual with Homegrown. Rather than having the entire movie on a title that makes it easy for viewers to skip to where ever they choose in the movie (which is extremely nice if you get tired of a scene and just want to jump ahead randomly or if you're viewing the movie later and want to go to a specific point in the movie) each scene has its own title, similar to how some studios run their TV shows on DVD. This style of authoring has thankfully gone the way of the dodo with most studios, but Homegrown and Naughty America seem to be sticking with it. Both studios are distributed by Pure Play and like Hundies (also distributed by Pure Play) there's only recently been an effort put into their extras (although Homegrown DVDs seem to use the same extras on all of their DVDs). Seeing that lack of care in the same areas for several studios being distributed by the same company I can't help but think that the problem and lack of care lies with Pure Play Media more than anything. With that little care coming from their releases maybe the customer should just be glad that they get a time stamp throughout the movie.

False Advertising: The boxcover lists a bonus scene as being on the DVD, but I couldn't find one anywhere. I'm deducting a half point from the overall score because of this. This false claim has also been on enough releases that I'm beginning to wonder if it's a case of somebody not doing their job or whether it's a deliberate attempt to mislead consumers.

Menus: There's only one menu, and it blends a simple background with text choices for extras and clips from each scene to let you jump to specific chapters. If you choose a scene, you're oddly taken shortly past the start of each scene rather than beginning at the start of the scene.

The Feature

Homegrown's Cherries series captures barely legal girls for their first time in front of the camera, or at least without much experience there. The scenes vary between having a touch of a story to open and just chatting with the girls and then move on with the action.

Strawberry blonde Leslie starts out on a bed in some sexy pink and black lingerie and happily shows off her natural tits. She lets Jay grope them before showing off her bald beaver, and he moves in to suck them while eyeing the camera after putting the camera on a tripod to capture the action. Leslie eagerly sucks his cock and gives him some great eyes before getting up to ride him cowgirl style. She lays back for a little missionary work before letting Jay slap her ass fucking her doggie style. They keep mixing it up before Jay lets an eager Leslie have a nice pop over her happy face. She waves goodbye before heading to the shower to clean up.

This is a nice opening scene. Leslie has a very normal and average look, and definitely seems new to porn. She looks like she's enjoying herself, but she often internalizes much of it like so many others new to porn. As usual with Homegrown the camera work leaves a bit to be desired, but unlike so many other Homegrown scenes that just seem sloppy, this one actually has an amateur porn feeling to it.

Cute brunette Heather and her hubby Alex, who really impressed me in Amateur Anal Attempts 19, hook up here for what I assume was the first scene they mentioned doing in the aforementioned release. She starts out in a little blue tank top with a short denim skirt straddling Alex talking about how it's their first scene and how they experiment quite a bit with sex. The scene cuts to them kissing passionately before cutting to them being partially stripped down with Heather helping Alex out of his shorts to suck and lick his cock. She rides him reverse cowgirl style before happily sucking him clean and then gets on all fours for him to take her from behind. They fuck scissor style before Heather straddles Alex so they can kiss and he can suck her tits before moving up to straddle his face. They mix in plenty more kissing as they fuck in each of the cowgirls and missionary. Finally Alex lets Heather have a very nice facial with her taking it with a huge enthusiastic smile on her face. Afterwards Alex wipes his mess off her and gives her a passionate kiss before they hold each other and chat about the scene.

This is a great scene with Heather and Alex cementing themselves in only two scenes as the best couple I've seen from Homegrown. Heather is cute as can be with a great body and Alex has a very “normal” look. The chemistry between them is off the charts and there's never any doubt as to whether or not they're having a fantastic time. With a hot body, a hotter attitude, and plenty of chemistry with her man one can only wish that more porn scenes were like Heather's scene with Alex and it has me hoping to see more of them in the future. This is not only the best scene in the movie, but one of the best scenes I've seen from Homegrown Video period.

Raven tressed Kacey kisses her short haired boyfriend on the couch before they strip down and she stoops down to suck his cock. This is a pretty standard amateur porn scene. Kacey and Sasha have pretty average looks and seem to be into each other nicely. The camera work is a bit rough and feels like it was shot from a distance due to some of the camera noise that's fairly noticeable at times in the scene. This is a pretty average.

After a heavily tattooed blonde with partially pink hair thanks her brunette friend for the help she's given her the past few days, the brunette makes a move kissing her. The blonde doesn't think she can do it, but her doubts fall aside as the brunette strips off her own top and kisses her again. The brunette continues to strip down and starts playing with her pierced and shaved pussy as the blonde watches and starts rubbing herself through her jeans. The blonde strips down and kisses the brunette before they go back to playing with themselves for each other. The brunette moves in to lick and finger the blonde a bit before they take to the floor so the blonde can return the favor. The brunette also works on the blonde with a blue dildo before laying back to take a red double dildo from the blonde. After a few pumps the blonde joins her on the other end before they finish things up holding each other and kissing.

This is an above average scene. The blonde's look did absolutely nothing, but I really liked the brunette and her attitude. There's nice chemistry between them, and the action was captured pretty good. The opening, however, seemed a little too generic porn for my tastes and together with the blonde's looks started the scene down a notch or two. The girls definitely recovered from it, and helped this scene to work pretty well.

Cherries 67 is a nice little amateur fuck flick. Unlike so many of Homegrown's other releases and series, the Cherries series actually seems to be about amateur porn rather than just doing things carelessly and trying to excuse it as amateur porn. There's plenty of chemistry in the scenes, and the camera work often has a feeling like it's something new rather than something that somebody doesn't quite care about. Heather and Alex definitely steal the show to the point of making this one a minimum of a rental, and have me hoping to see much more of them in the future. The other scenes are pretty good and all make it at least to the average mark, but none of them can come close to the chemistry in Heather and Alex's scene. Cherries 67 definitely has a few rough touches that won't work for everybody, but if you're looking for fresh faces and the charm of amateur porn it's definitely worth checking out.

The Extra Stuff

Trailers are included for many of Homegrown's previous releases as well as a few of their upcoming releases. They nicely let you see who's in each scene and give you several clips from each movie, but unfortunately also lump all of the trailers under two chapters so that you can't skip a title easily if you've already seen it or aren't interested in it. There's also weblinks and a blooper reel.

The blooper reel lasts about twelve and a half minutes. Unlike most blooper reels which actually contain bloopers from the movie on the DVD, this is a completely generic blooper reel that spans the entire range of Homegrown's releases. It spans so many movies that it's even organized into areas such as bodily functions. There's a few chuckles here, but it's not nearly as good as it might have been if it featured clips from this movie.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many Homegrown DVDs can be found online for between about $13 and $25 with a few stores offering them near the low end. At the low end this one's worth it just for Heather and Alex's scene. There isn't a single scene that gets below the average mark, but their scene really shines and makes this one worth checking out. The technical aspects vary from scene to scene, but overall the movie is safely above average. As usual for Homegrown, however, the extras show no effort and take the DVD down a notch because of it. This is a nice amateur porn release that has me hoping to see more of Heather and Alex in the future as well as wishing Homegrown would put a little more care into their overall DVDs.
