Casting Couch 1 (Brookland Bros) Review

Initial Expectations: This is the first type of feature like this I’ve seen from Brookland Brothers, so I’m trying to keep an open mind even though I thought Pacific Northwest Amateurs: Panty Peeks 1 pretty much blew large hairy chunks.

Initial Reaction: It’s not as bad as Pacific Northwest Amateurs: Panty Peeks 1, but that isn’t saying much.

Who Should Watch It : Extreme fans of amateur action

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who likes real audio to go with their sex scenes.

Audio /Video Quality: The audio basically sucks. No, it’s often clear, but it’s rare for the audio to be from the actual scenes in the movie. I know you never hear the girl in the solo scenes, and even the vibrator noises are obviously dubbed there. The one actual sex scene does have some audio that appears real, but parts of that also feel dubbed. Unfortunately, when there’s real audio there’s nothing edited out so you hear the cameraman asking the performers to look at them before you see a flash of the still camera. The video, however, is surprisingly good even when one doesn’t consider how horribly done the audio is. It’s normally well lit and shows hardly any grain, but there are a few soft focus problems.

Music: The music is pretty much the only audio in the feature, and ranges from a decent rock beat to the stuff they use in doctors offices as an anaesthetic.

Disc Problems / Complaints: There’s no time stamp! I frequently like to jump around in movies or go to specific places in the feature, but without a time stamp, which as I understand it takes next to no effort to include on a DVD, I can’t. The lack of a time stamp always makes a DVD feel a little half-assed to me.

Menus: The only menu on the DVD allows you to choose between a specific girl based on her name and a small photo or watching all of the scenes. It’s a nice way to do a chapter menu for a feature like this, and shows some decent care.

The Feature: Pacific Northwest Amateurs: Casting Couch 1 mixes together several types of scenes for amateur action. There’s masturbation, voyeurism, strip teases, and even a little sex. The scenes don’t have any lead-in to them, and nicely move along.

Secily, a cute brunette, starts things out. She dances around while stripping down to show a very nice natural body. After that, things cut to her scene from Pacific Northwest Amateurs: Panty Peeks 1, where Secily showed off her panties while talking on the phone. Finally, Secily plays with herself with a vibrator. She looks to enjoy herself, but the way it’s done is so boring that I couldn’t care less. This scene reeks of wasted potential. Secily is very cute and looks like she enjoys being in front of the camera. Unfortunately the cameraman seems to think that the camera should always be moving, and never takes a break to let you enjoy what you’re seeing. The absence of any real audio also keeps the scene from building any real heat.

Charis, a brunette with a body that might be a little too realistic, starts her portion with one of her segments from Pacific Northwest Amateurs: Panty Peeks 1. She moves on through a strip tease, a little masturbation, and the shower before getting dressed in a fishnet outfit and taking on her boyfriend. She tenderly sucks his cock before letting him munch her muff. They work through most of the common positions before the guy gives Charis a below average pop on her oversized tits. It’s an okay scene that seems to have some decent chemistry, but nothing too special.

Jasmine, a kinda cute bottle brunette, gestures playfully to the camera to come to her as she begins her strip tease. She plays with herself after stripping down, and as soon as she’s done, does another strip tease. Next, Jasmine does a shower scene, and in a boneheaded editing move, dresses in the clothes she took off in the opening portion of her scene. Finally, Jasmine works herself over with her fingers and a vibe after her nightly bible reading. This is easily the best part of the scene since Jasmine looks to be really getting into it. It’s also easily the best segment in the movie since it actually has a little emotion. Jasmine has some potential and is actually worth a second look.

Once again, the Brookland Brothers show that porn can’t be made by just anybody, at least, not good porn. I barely even got wood watching this. The scenes feel hastily edited together as well as recycled since I’d already seen several of the segments in this scene in the only other DVD I’ve seen from them. Jasmine easily takes home the prize in Casting Couch Vol. 1, as she looks like she’s having more fun than Secily and Charis put together and actually got me up to a semi. The biggest problem, however, is the technical aspects, which hold back the entire feature and had me turned off to the point that the girls were all fighting an uphill battle. Casting Couch Vol. 1 reminded me why the fast forward button was invented.

Overall: Currently, most of the DVDs from Brookland Brothers can be found online for $10. I wouldn’t suggest paying any more than unless you’re a major fan of amateur sex or have seen a few of the Brookland Brothers’ movies before. The action lacks and is only brought down further by audio that’s worse than the hair on a radical feminist’s legs. There’s also no extras. I wouldn’t recommend spending too much time on this one.

Note to Brookland Brothers: People like hearing sex. Your using music for the majority of the audio in your features brings down your product enough that by the time you hopefully change it, I don’t know if many people will be around to pay attention to it.
