The Movie

Camera and I is a surreal fantasy adult short film with a sense of humor from writer and director Shine Louise Houston. The concept behind the short film is that Jasko Fide is leaving a set after a shoot, and the Sony camera (voice of Shine Louise Houston) on the set starts talking with her. This concept is so bizarre it could never work, except it does.

Shine Louise Houston has put together a short film that works on multiple levels, which is why it is ultimately so successful with a scenario that at first seems impossible to get drawn into. At its heart, Camera and I is a play on the life of an adult entertainment performer. Whether the performer is a cam performer or a movie performer, they are always seducing the camera, so when you, the viewer, see it, the performance comes across as the performer is trying to seduce you. Shine Louise Houston has taken this action and brought it to the next level. She has added free thought to the production equipment, so the equipment and the star can converse.

The short film also has a wonderfully quirky sense of humor throughout, never seeming to take itself seriously. The humor helps the viewer accept the premise of the short film. Had Camera and I played itself seriously, this reviewer doesn't think it would have worked as well as it does.

Jasko Fide is another huge reason why Camera and I works so well. She does an excellent job of playing to the camera (pun intended). Her performance of literally seducing the camera is spot on and helps the viewer buy into the premise of the short film.

The short film is shot both POV from the eye of the camera and is shot in standard film style. The combination of techniques works very well. The sex scene portion of the short film stays mostly softcore, with only a little hardcore footage, making the scene seem more sensual and intimate, which is impressive considering the participants are Jasko Fide and a Sony camera. Had someone told this reviewer prior to viewing the short film that Shine Louise Houston could make a sex scene between a person and a camera sensual, he never would have believed them; but she did.

Camera and I seems too bizarre to work at first; however, the short film is well thought out, and the way that Shine Louise Houston has blended all the elements of the film ends up working beautifully. Camera and I is well worth watching. It is a unique and enjoyable adult short film that will entertain.

Final Thoughts

At first, Camera and I appears to be a short film that will never work. The concept is absurd; however, in the masterful hands of writer and director Shine Louise Houston and star Jasko Fide, the viewer quickly accepts the scenario presented to them. Camera and I is a beautiful mix of humor and sensuality that is a joy to watch from beginning to end. Camera and I is highly recommended.
