The Short Story

Initial Expectations: Evil Angel’s compilations have normally been pretty good. I’m looking forward to this one.

Initial Reaction: It’s a darn good compilation for seeing why John Stagliano has long been considered the King of Gonzo Porn.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody who’s curious as to what Evil Angel has to offer but who doesn’t want to pay full price to do it or anybody who’s curious as to how good porn can be

Who Should Avoid It: Prison convicts. This is way too good for anybody who’s supposed to be paying for their crimes.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: This is a compilation, and as such one expects a little variation between scenes. The audio is normally nicely balanced, but there are a few background noises such as planes flying over during the outdoor sequences and a little camera noise during the interior sequences. The video shows a little age. There’s a little grain, but that’s to be expected with the age of some of the scenes here. There are also a few lighting problems, but that too is something one expected with early gonzo. Although the technical aspects lack a little, when one considers the age of these scenes, the technical aspects are pretty good.

Music: With the exception of the final scene, which is almost pure music, very little. When there is music, it’s nicely done in both style and balance.

Menus: The menus are nicely done. The main menu is simple, but has a nice look and a little animation. The chapter menu shows some very nice care, and lets you know who the girl is in each scene, what movie the scene came from complete with a shot of the boxcover, and even gives you a clip of the movie.

The Feature

Buttman’s Favorite Big Butt Babes 2 collects four of John Stagliano’s scenes from the late eighties and the nineties. Each scene features at least one big butt babe, and you’re nicely told who’s in the scene as each scene starts.

Scene 1 - Krysti Lynn and Rocco Siffredi

Krysti’s scene comes from Buttman’s Big Butt Backdoor Babes. John starts things out admiring Krysti’s fine ass as she stands outside in a black dress admiring the view. She heads inside and gives him another great view of her ass through her dress, as well as how she’s not wearing panties. Scene 2 - Brandy Alexandre and Aldacir Mencato

Brandy’s scene comes from Buttman Goes to Rio. After admiring the scenery on the beach at Rio for a while, John finds dirty blonde Brandy lying out on the beach barely wearing a bikini. Perhaps the best part of the scene for me, though, was the ass eating. I loved the enthusiasm both Brandy and Aldacir had for eating each other’s ass, with Brandy really standing out at it. The scene’s a little short and I would have liked a little more fucking, but this is still a well done scene.

Scene 3 - Sascha Strange and Bionca

Sascha and Bionca’s scene comes from the start of it all, The Adventures of Buttman. John finds Sascha Strange and Bionca on the beach and convinces them to come back to his studio to make a demo tape. The scene is also a great addition here just to have something from the original Buttman. This is a very nice all girl scene that fits the Buttman style amazingly well.

The final scene comes from Rock ‘n’ Roll Heaven, which I will confess to never even having heard of before. This scene is a true orgy scene, and I never even tried keeping track of who was doing who. All I can really say is there’s pretty much anything you could want here. Blowjobs... pussy licking... pussy fucking... ass fucking... threesomes... lesbian... heck, about the only thing I didn’t notice here was ass eating. The sex is so much a part of the scene that the band even gets in on it a little and sings about sex. Of course, there’s plenty of pop shots as well, but they’re spaced throughout the scene rather than all being at the end.

This is a very different and a nicely done scene. I’m not much of an orgy fan, as I rarely get a good feeling of chemistry from them, but this one has a very fun feeling. People seem to change partners quite a bit while looking like they’re enjoying themselves the entire time. It also shows how skilled John Stagliano is both with sex and music (when he brings it into his movies). The music is the framework for the scene, and gives the entire scene a bit party feel. I really don’t think the scene would have been a fraction as satisfying if the music were taken away from it. I don’t know that this is a scene that I’d watch over and over again, but at the same time I would love to see the original version of the movie find its way onto DVD. Yes, it’s definitely dated with it’s style, but if it’s done as well as this scene is (and with Stagliano behind it I can’t think of any reason why it wouldn’t be) I’m curious as heck to see all of the movie. I’d also love to hear John’s thoughts on it with a commentary, which I think would probably be as worthwhile and enjoyable as the movie itself. This is a very unique scene, and something that I can see many people really getting into.

Buttman’s Favorite Big Butt Babes 2 is a nicely done compilation that shows some very nice care. It collects four of John Stagliano’s scenes with each of them having a different feel. Okay, the first and third have a similar feel, but with one being a Rocco anal scene and the other being a lesbian scene nicely sets them apart. Krysti and Rocco’s scene was easily my favorite in the movie, but there isn’t even an average scene in here. There’s all the tease and chemistry one expects from Stagliano, as well as some nicely done humor as well. This series of DVDs was put out to give people a more affordable way to check out some of what Evil Angel has to offer, and as such this DVD is a real gem. It’s not trying to conquer the DVD world by seeing how much can be crammed into one release, but instead offering a little taste at a lower price. As such, Buttman’s Favorite Big Butt Babes 2 is a nice enough release that I can’t help but recommend it to both those who are curious about what Evil Angel has to offer as well as those who know full well what it has to offer with a bookcase full of red DVD cases.

Although this is a compilation meant to introduce people to what Evil Angel has to offer, they didn’t short people on extras. Trailers are included for The Fashionistas, Buttman’s Anal Show 4, and the Buttman website. A cast list by scene is included, as well as an autobiography of John Stagliano, and filmographies for Krysti Lynn, Brandy Alexandre, Bionca, and Sharon Kane. The photo gallery contains roughly forty great looking snapshots. There’s also some website information.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, the Buttman’s Favorites line can be found online for between about $12 and $28 with a few stores offering it for under $15. This is quite a bit less than the normal Evil Angel release, which is just how it was planned. It’s a cheap way to check out Evil Angel and John Stagliano, and for the price you just can’t go wrong. These are some earlier scenes with a little weaker technical aspects, but they’re hotter than what most directors put out today. Although a cheap way in, Evil Angel still puts some nice effort into the extras. This is a DVD that I don’t think you can go wrong with, and one heck of a great buy.

Note to Evil Angel: I hope you keep bringing these compilations out. They’re a great buy and a nice way for people to satisfy their curiosity without damaging their checkbook (right away).
