Note: I've often complained about commercials and other such things put before the movie. Here instead I'd like to thank Sturgeon Court and Arrogant Entertainment for using it to help somebody instead of marketing by putting a quick message up to support Nicki Hunter's battle against cancer at www.huntercare.com. It's often the little things in life that can make a difference, and this little thing definitely gave me a very good feeling about a new company I hadn't heard about before.

The Short Story

Initial Expectations: I haven't heard of Arrogant Entertainment before, but with Sturgeon Court behind the camera and then caring enough to put a little effort in to help Nicki Hunter and her battle against cancer, I can't help but have a bit of hope for it.

Initial Reaction: It's surprisingly dark, but also unique enough that I couldn't help but get into it.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting porn with a darker edge but not all the nastiness

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting soft and cuddly porn

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are slightly above average. The audio is nicely done, and doesn't have any background noises to interfere with the action. The video is very nicely presented in anamorphic widescreen. It has a touch of grain at times and the lighting is often a bit low with shadows that do interfere with the action. There's also a bit of the action which looks tinted, but both of these faults do fit into the feel of the movie a little rather than completely interfering with it.

Music: There's a bit of music to start out each scene. It has a rough and eerie feel that really fits the mood of the movie well, and disappears shorting into the action each time.

Menus: The main menu has a bit of a hard edge with a few stills blended with a little animation for a dark opening feeling. The chapter menu is very generic, and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene.

The Feature

In the badlands of Bumper City, women and men don't love or even really like each other. That doesn't stop them from lusting after each other, which might be little more than just a survival instinct.

Scene 1 – Mindy Main and Alec Knight

Mindy starts out the action in a little black dress with panties and fishnets finding Alec on her bed and taking a swing at him with a baseball bat. He quickly disarms her and throws her back on the bed so he can strip off her panties and start devouring her pussy orally. This is an above average scene. There's a touch of desperation to the scene that's really kind of interesting to me. It fits into the theme of the movie very well, but at the same time is very different from most feelings I normally get in porn. Mindy and Alec put out some very nice energy that matches some equally nice vocals. Sadly the movie has some big problems with shadows. The lighting does play into the mood, but there's shadows in almost every shot that did interfere with the action for me. There's some good sex between Mindy and Alec, but the lighting and feeling of the scene give it a very different feel that did hold it back a little for me.

Scene 2 – Kristal Summers and Marcos Ramon

When bottle blonde Kristal comes at Marcos with a chainsaw wearing a red and black skirt and frayed top with red fishnets, he takes it away from her before throwing down a mattress so she can kneels on something while sucking his cock. Kristal gives him some good throat action as well as some great eyes as she works him over, and even lets Marcos strip her down to suck her tits a little in the middle of it. This is a darn hot scene. Kristal looks wonderfully slutty, and has great chemistry with Marcos. Once again there's both great vocals and great energy, and better yet they seem to fit together. The chainsaw opening was a bit different, but that's not a bad thing either with the kind of post-apocalyptic feeling of the movie. I really enjoyed this scene.

Scene 3 – Shi Reeves and Chris Cannon

Chris admires black beauty Shi from a few feet away kneeling in front of him before she knocks his hat off. He moves in to suck her tits before letting her drop down to suck his cock. This scene could have been hot, instead fails because the lighting never really lets you have a good look at the action. This is easily the weakest scene in the movie.

Scene 4 – Devon Lee and Marcus London

Buxom blonde Devon shows off outside a bit before hooking up with Marcus in a barn. They kiss while she strokes his cock with Devon mixing in a little titty action as well when she drops down to mouth his cock. This is a pretty good scene. There's still some very nice energy and vocals, but the camera work held this scene back a touch for me to finish a little above the average mark.

Scene 5 – Nicki Hunter and Josh Hunter

After a little peering around, Nicki brings Josh in and roughly tells him to suck her tits while slapping his face a little. She drops to her knees to reward him orally and of course works in some nice titty fucking and trash talk as she works him over. Instead it comes across as a fight for sexual control that gives the scene a great feeling of intensity and works even better due to seeing how into each other Josh and Nicki are. This is a very good scene to end the movie with.

Busted in the Badlands is a dark and different fuck flick. At times it borders on alt-porn with some of the outfits, locations, and the camera work, but the chemistry comes off much stronger than I've seen in alt-porn movies and the editing is well done, unlike most of what I've seen from alt-porn. Instead of coming off like an alt-porn movie, it comes off as more of a post-apocalyptic all sex porn movie with a common theme to keep it going. Although there's never a loving feel to the scenes, there is chemistry that comes across as a primal need and some very nice intensity throughout the movie. Mindy Main grabbed me right away with her opening scene, while I think Kristal Summers might have put out my favorite scene. The only scene that really fell flat for me was Shi Reeves', and that's just because it was so dark that you could barely make her out. Busted in the Badlands is a nicely different porno that shows a little more variety from Sturgeon Court, and has me looking for more from him in the future.

The Extra Stuff

The photo gallery lasts just over two minutes with about four seconds per good looking full screen photo or snapshot. There's also a behind the scenes featurette.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts about six and a quarter minutes and features camera work by the lovely Nicki Hunter, the “If only he were as hot as Nicki Hunter” Jim Orlando, and the “Who's he?” JR. Nicki starts things out letting the camera know that it just missed the boobies, but makes sure to tease it a bit with them. She does a little wardrobe adjustment before it moves on with Alec and Mindy having some fun. There's also a little of Devon's scene before the action cuts off. This is a pretty good little behind the scenes featurette. It felt a little 'clippy' rather than having a smooth flow to it, but it does show some very nice personality from plenty of the cast. This is a simple behind the scenes featurette, but it adds nicely to the overall DVD.

The Bottom Line:

Arrogant Entertainment is a new company, and since they were nice enough to send me a copy before it's released I have no idea how much they're going to go for. That said, I'd aim at the low end of average here and recommend a rental if you're a bit unsure about it. It has a darker feel that I'm sure will put some people off while really winning over some others. The sex has some good intensity to it, but never confuses intensity with nastiness. The technical aspects however just below the average mark due to some very low lighting, but there is a bit of effort put into the extras. This is a pretty good DVD that shows some nice care and some very nice potential.

Note to Arrogant Entertainment: This is a very nice start for you. I hope you put a little more care into your lighting, as it was the main thing to hold you back here, but beyond that this was a very nice debut release.
